1st fill
Same for me!! Today was my first fill. I was so nervous I had my husband go with me. My doctor had to go into surgery. so I had to wait an hour to be seen by a doctor I never met. Man I had myself work up for nothing. He said I had a really easy port to find and was done so fast. He put 3cc in my 14 band. No problems what so ever!

I think I made a mistake!!
I just want to thank everyone for sharring and for your advice. crystal-Sorry for your pain, but thanks for posting. I was kinda wonderring if there was something wrong with me or my DR. because I was the only one still in a lot of pain 2 wks after surgery. I did go to the doctors again today. I do have a slight infection, nothing major. He did take the metal instument they use to take out stiches, well he used this to scrape the scabs off the insision under my breast and around the areola. Not as painful as it sounds, but not fun either. He told me to order the compression bra. Kind of expensive. I was hoping to get away with just a sports bra. He also said the pain could be more for me because of my fibromyalgia and b/c I have had 3 surgeries in 4 months so my body is use to the pain meds. Anyways I do feel better having seen him and having fresh bandages. O my gosh I forgot this is not my blogg. Sorry for it being so long.

I think I made a mistake!!
I keep telling myself I am luky because my insurrance covered reduction only. My Dr. added the lipo and lift at no extra cost. I am sure one day I will look back on this and feel that is was all worth it, but for now I hurt! lol

I think I made a mistake!!
Well I go back to the Doctors today. Hopefully we well find out why I am still in so much pain. My breast are fine it is underneath and to the side. I think it might be more from the lipo. It is a constant burning feeling that hurts alot. Two vicodine every 4 hours helps but still does not take the pain away.

Almost 6 wks. Post-Op
Wow how time flys. I can't beleive it is time for my first fill. The Lap- Band has been great so far. Way less pain than I thought. The Lap-Band is helping me to change my relationship with food. I was loosing weight. That only stopped b/c of my Breast lift/reduction. I had that surgery 5/27.I woke up 10 pounds hevier. People here have told me that is normal and usally goes awat after about 2 wks. I have los 6 pounds. This surgery has been sooo painful. I did not research this one as much as the Band, and there is not as much support as with the band. I am a mess phisycal and Emotional! The pain has left me wonderring if it was really worth it, and I am so lonley. My friends have not called and my family has not been there for me as they were in the past.I did not tell anyone what kind of sugery I was having. I really did not want everybody looking at my boobies the first time they saw me. You know this would happen. I told everyone about the Band. Not sure that was a good idea b/c they now watch evrything I eat and some make comments not realizing they are not helpful. I cry alot. I can't help but wonder why I did this to myself!(breast reduction not the Band) I was suppose to have surgery in Jan. But I was having other issues. Finally found out I needed my gallblater removed. Had that sugery 2/22 then I got approved for Lap Band way sooner than I expected so I canceled the B/R again. Had the Lap Band 4/29. Then fanally had the B/R-B/L on 5/27. It was way to soon to have another surgery but my authorization was about to expire, so I went for it. Today I am 12 days post op I am starting to feel myself again. I had a good wkend. I finaly got out of the house and saw some friends. We had a gret visit without talking about me and my surgeries. That was nice. I also started walking 30 mins. Boy does that help. Also this morning I started. Dah, I was PSMing last wk. No wonder I was having a pitty party. I was not paying attention to the date, otherwize I would have known I was being emotional b/c I PMS really bad the wk. before. Sorry, TMI I know but it explains alot. My poor Husband. I won't even go into what I put him through. Anyways I am still in pain and need meds however I have gone from 2 percocets(sp?)and a anti-anxiety med to just 2 vicodin every 6 hours. I am looking on the bright side. My cramps are keeping my mind of my sore breast lol BTW my fill is in 2 days. I have read so many horror stories that I am scarred. Od cource I have read a ton of storie that everything went well, but those are not the ones that stick in my mind!!

Dr. Jay Jackson - Dr. Madaan
Dr. Madan did my Lap Band surgery on 4/29. I really like this Doctor and the staff. Everyone treated me well. I love that they had a sense of humor that put me at ease. I felt very comfortable going into surgery. This was a big surprise since I was a nervous wreck from the day I was approved! It has been 6 wks. and I go for my first fill wed. I am nervous about that. I do have a short blogg that gives a little more details. Good luck and please keep in touch, I would love to hear about your journey. Feel free to PM me with any ??

Exercise frequency
Chickie- I read your post, and it made me mad. I wanted to tell you how rude, and insensitive you are. I decided to read the the other post, before I gave you a piece of my mind. I mean how dare you put us down. Any exercise is good, at least we are moving, bla blah blah! I realized I was offended because it was very true. Every word you said. I have decide to print your post, hang it on my frige and read it daily. You have motivated me, not offended me. Sometimes we need to hear what we need to hear and not just what we want! Thanks

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
I went shopping for a bike yesterday. I want to look around some more, before I buy one. I live 2 miles from the beach. I day dream about cruising the strand on warm sunny day!! My family told me not to bother. It will just sit in the garage like everything else. They do not get yet. Life is different . I AM BANDED NOW!!

what if you don't have the weight/medical records?
Please tell your brother we are praying for him, and keep us posted. BTW my Doctor said BCBS is the fastest, and easiest insurance to work with. My BMI was 40 with no other medical issues and I was approved in 48 hrs. Good Luck to both of you:thumbup:

Special Bra??
I had breast lift/reduction a wk ago. I went for post op appt. yesterday. My dr. was sick so he was not there. The nurse gave me a pamphlet for surgical bras. She said she forgot to give it to me sooner. She had no info as to what my Doctor wanted me to get. Do I need one? if so what kind? or can I just wear a Sports Bra? Any tips would be appreciated.

what if you don't have the weight/medical records?
I have BSBC and was banded 4/29/10 For the 5 year history I just had to fill out the paperwork and I guessed alot on the dates, diets and weight. They did not ask for actual documentation. They do ask for and need prove of a 6 mos. medically supervised diet in the past year. It does not need to consecutive. I had only 4 mos. and I did that diet with my PCP 6 mos before, so they let me do a 2 mo diet with the Lap Band Dietition. BSBC accepted that. They approved me the very first time my Doctor summited the paperwork. I am in California so hopefully it will be the same. Call BSBC and request the requirments for WLS. They should send you a packet describing exactly what they cover and the requirments. My consult was in Jan and banded 3 mos later. I am still in shock. Good luck, and keep us posted! Feel free to PM me if you have any more ???

I think I made a mistake!!
Frankinboobs- What a great description!! That is exactly how I feel. He told me I would be a full C. So I did not think I would be a B. Good advice about waiting until goal before I decide what to do. How much do implants run. I'm just lookin for a ballpark figure. Did you get them done here or Mexico?

@`~~ May 2010 Workout Challenge @,~~
That's funny I didn't realize BCG was me!! Yes I really was born a blonde lol. I lost 7 of the 10 gained. I put a top on today that really made me look pregnant, because my stomach is rock hard perfectly round and with breast reduction it looks like the baby dropped. I decided to have a little fun at my husband's expence. When we went for a walk today, I put my hands on my hips and started waddling in front of the nosy neighbors who talk to no one yet has something to say about everyone. 3 mos ago I had my gall blatter removed 1 1/2 months ago my lap band and now this surgery. Everyday 4 times a day they see me take very slow walks up and down the block. I should also mention I am a Grandma who has raised 6 kid of my own. OK this is the high light of my wk. I think I am getting cabin fever.

Did you guys have to fill out a HUGE pack of papers?
Ooo. I am sure this can be overwhelming. Just try to take it one page at a time otherwise the whole paket can make you want to throw your arms up in the air and get a snack instead. Good Luck and please let us know how it turns out. It is a lot of work and can get very emotional at times but in the end it is worth it!!

What insurrance do you have? With BSBC I had to just really estamate my 5 year diet history. This was just a stab in the dark for me. I did not need to show proof for any of that. They did require a supervised 6 mo diet with in the past year. That I had to show the paprework. I had only 4 mos. so I did another 2 mos with the Lap Band Surgeon. They accepted that. I was supprised the diet did not have to be 6 consecutive months.

Can you call and find out what your insurance requires?

I think I made a mistake!!
Thanks Jill. I was wonderring if they would "fall into place". They seem so flat and rock hard. The worse part is where he did the lipo. near the arm pit. The skin is very tight and hot to the touch. I can't put my arms straight down. That is where most the pain comes from. I do not know if this is normal. I do have an appt. today with the Dr. I just scarred. I don't want to have to have the drain put in or some other painful procedure. O I need to stop!! I get myself so worked up, probably for nothing.

What is your favorite diet-friendly, non-carbonated alcoholic drink?

You are right, you would think the Surgeon would have mentioned a little wt. gain. I am still on liquids only and I am up 6 pounds.
