I am 51 and have been banded now 31 days. I went into this know the band was a tool. The other tool I found is the lapband.com site for recording my progress and food. Be careful about eating too little calories. I stick between 1200 to 1400 and I have lost 16 lbs since the day before surgery. I know that is alot for one month. Moving is important but not sending your body into starvation mode is important. My first fill was last week. I am a bit more restricted but I still could go crazy with food if I didn't write it down and track the calories. I wish you the best!!

:thumbup:Use LAP-BAND®.com for logging you food. Use it as a tool. Keep your calories between 1200-1400. You will start loosing again. It's like keeping a check book balanced. Enjoy!

I have been using lapband.com to log my food. Keeping between 1200 to 1400 cals keeps 1.5 to 2 lbs a week coming off so far. I am only 3.5 weeks into this and my first fill is tomorrow. Keeping the mindset that the band is only a tool is the key for me and the logging food is a tool also. Good luck. What I do know is I have to eat less than I ever did before as I age.

I get my first fill tomorrow. I have taken the attitude that the band is a tool and logging my food is a tool also. I keep track because I tend to eat unconsciously. It really does help and helps me keep my calories about 1200 to 1400. I am hungry more often so I hope the fill will help. I am self pay so I have 2 free fills with that. I hope I hit my sweet spot soon. I have lost 14 lbs since my surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago. I know when I am head hungry it is the worst so writing it down or logging it on lapband.com really helps me. My worse day was 1800 calories. I have dieted my whole life. Getting use to 1200 calories will help me maintain when I reach my goal weight of 140. I will keep you in my thots and prayers. Keeping our eyes on the goal!

My first fill is next week. I understand. I have been keeping my calories under 1400 and I am loosing. You will be okay. If you eat it, own it. Write it down or use lapband.com to keep track. This will help. Also eating ONLY when you are hungry. My head hunger I am dealing with the root and praying what it is all about. I hope this helps.

My opinion is that you placed your body into "starvation" mode. Try uping your calories to 1200 and see what happens. I have been staying between 1100 to 1400 and I have lost 12.5 since the day before surgery. I am excercising now and I am 2.5 weeks post op. Good luck!

My doc said to make sure you get enough calories or your body will stave off starvation and hold on to weight. Make sure you are getting at least the min amount of calories for your weight to loose weight. I am 218. I will need min 1200 to loose and a balance of protein and carb.

Staying focused is the key and you are focused! Congrats!! I am one day post op and doing well!

The advice I have is pre op. I am banded today. My goal is to eat "normal" foods in smaller amounts and not get cravings. Food is not good or bad. Choices are. Choosing the lap band is your tool to eat "less" thus eating less food. It doesn't change your mind. You are the only one that can change your focus! Enjoy! 1/4 cup of ravioli is not out of control. Blessings and I will keep you in my prayers! Congrats on the weight loss!

I am 36 hours away and I totally understand the emotions. Tonight was the last "meal" of real food for a while. I didn't overeat. I am finished with that. I want to feel good also and I am excited for the change!

I think what your discription is my goal. Regular food in small portions and not focusing on diet...........good luck. I am banded on 4/30.
-
Man, that is awful. I hope and pray you are better! I am getting banded in 11 days. I appreciate you sharing.
-
I don't have any suggestions. I can relate though. I am a 2 year survivor. I am having lapband the end of this month to get healthy. I hope all goes well with you.
-
I get banded on the 30th so your blog was very encouraging! Keep it up!
-
You and I have about the same weight to loose. I am being banded 4/30. Join the blog group "April Bunny Bandster", Everyone will be or has been banded in April. God bless you on your new journey! I will be right there with you!
-
I will pray for you and your daughter. Eating won't change anything but your weight. Pray, pray, pray!

I haven't been banded yet. I know I have had complications with a hernia operation. I have had a seroma for 4 months that is turning into a hematoma. My surgeon said he can do the lapband around it without causing a problem. I hope and pray he is right. I will be praying for you. Keep your head up!

Yes that is awesome. I am banding on the 30th. Are you totally liquid diet?
-
Yes thank you. I love reading these post to help when I do get banded. Thanks!
-
I got turned down from insurance 2 times so I did try on my own. I am back and doing a self pay. I wish you the best. It is a tough decision to make.

I think finding comfort in something else other than food is the key. Make a list of other things you enjoy or will enjoy once you can move when thinner. I know I cannot do anything without prayer. The lapband is a tool to help in weight loss. That is how I have to look at it. I am not going to be banded until 4/30 so I am having lots of thoughts also. We will make it!

Thank you. I am cancer free and hope to stay that way. Being a normal weight stops the hormones that cause breast cancer. My hope is to be at goal weight by this time next year. I don't like being hungry, thus the lap band. I am going to use it as a tool to do a job that needs to be done. I guess I see it like you wouldn't put a nail in a wall without a hammer. I feel like that is what I have been trying to do lately dieting.
-
I will be praying for you. Your attitude is amazing. I had breast cancer two years ago. I know it is tough but you will make it through. If you need support just post.

I am new to this site. I am happy to be able to journal my progress.
My weight right now is 218. I have been denied by my insurance two times. I am two years out from a breast cancer diagnosis. I have had surgery, chemo and radiation. I am healthy except for my weight. I am wanting to loose the balance of my weight because the only contributing factor to the breast cancer was obesity MY top weight was 267 and I lost 100 lbs and have put on 51. I am afraid I will continue to go up. I also don't want to gain weight on purpose so my insurance with pay for the surgery, therefore I am paying for the lapband myself.
I am praying for peace and wisdom in this path to being healthy.

Food is not the enemy. It is how I have given so much power to it, that is the enemy. A bite or two of anything is possible. You can do it. Don't limit yourself to "good food" . The lapband isn't a diet but a new way of life. Smaller portions. Don't let the food get the upper hand.
