5 more days...
Well here is my story... I had my surgery monday the 17th. I woke up at 445 and off to the hospital at 5:20. Got there at 5:55 walked into the office and started filling out paper work. I started getting nervous and felt like throwing up! I havent been nervous up till this point. At about 6:15 two nurses came out and got me. They told me no one was allowed to come back with me, so to say good bye to my mom and she will see me after surgery. I really didn't like this and neither did my mom. They gave me a HUGE gown to put on, a hair net, and booties, and a cup to pee in. I was in the bathroom for 20 mintues and I couldn't go. So they sat me down in this chair that reclined and asked me questions and gave me a shot in the thigh. This did not hurt at all. Nothing as bad as some people made it seem. They then started my IV... got it in the first try.. i was so happy. So then I just sat there for awhile waiting for my dr to get there and I still needed to pee!! The anesthesiologist came in and talked to me and asked if I had any questions. It was time for me to try and pee again. Another 15 min later.. NOTHING! So they made me sign a piece of paper saying I wasnt pregnant and there wasnt ne way that I could be. I then talked to my surgeon and I walked off to the OR. I layed down and as they were getting ready my surgeon, nurse, and anesthesiologist were just talking to me, trying to keep me calm. I was then told that i was going to feel some pressure in my hand and at the time that I was about to kill him I would be asleep. Wow was he right! This stuff hurt! Ive been put asleep three times and it was nothing like this. But soon enough I was asleep. Next thing I know im waking up in the recovery room saying "im cold, im cold, im cold" as i am shivering. They put a warming blanket on me and told me surgery went well. My nurse told me to just take a little nap. I refused to do that though, I couldn't wait to get out of there and back to my own bed. About 45 minutes later they asked if I was ready to get up and go sit in the chair that I was in before. I agreed right away. They let me go to the washroom, because in order to be released I had to pee. I did right away! I was nervous I wasnt going to be able to because I was having issues before. I then sat in my recliner chair and had to drink 8oz of Water before they released me. I was sipping it very slowly because I was scared it was going to have to come back up! At about 10:30 I finished, they took my IV out and helped me get dressed, rolled me out to my moms car at 10:45 and I was off to my own house. I didn't need any pain medicine when I was in recovering and havent tooken anything but tylenol before I go to bed. The worst pain for me would prolly be the shoulder gas pain and where my port is, its tender and it feels like its ripping my insides. I feel that I cant even stand up straight!

Mourning over departing with food
I know this feeling! I am only 3 day post op but my brother came home with gyros and cheesy fries... MY FAVORITE. I seriously licked the cheese and gyro sauce.... I almost ate a piece of gyro meat, I kept telling myself ill chew it till it just dissolves! But i talked myself out of it, I still have 2 and a half weeks before I get to solid foods. I know one day I will be able to eat this stuff in moderation I just have been on liquids for 2 and a half weeks and its just about getting to me now!

Any May 2010 Bandsters?
I am on a week of liquids and I am glad thats it, because I was on 2 weeks pre-op. Then I go to 2 week mushies, then normal food. Im thinking that by the time mushies come around Ill finally be hungry.

Banded yesterday.. wooow the pain!
The gas pain is the worst! I take gasx, use the heating pad, and walk. The Gasx helps just a tad bit, it stops me from wanting to cut my shoulder off. The heating pad is the same way. The walking makes it 10x worse. Walking does not help with my gas pains AT ALL. The only thing that helps is laying on my left side. Im 3-days post op and the pain is still pretty bad. I am def in the stage of "what did i do to myself"

Pre-op diet
Mine was monday... it went really well. The only problem was I couldnt pee before surgery... hello they tell you not to drink after midnight and then I pee when i wake up.. there wasnt much going on after that... so after about 45 min of trying they had my sign something that said I wasnt pregnant and there was no possible way I could be. I was there from 6-11am.. I am so glad i didnt have to stay the night, I was ready to get out of there, when i woke up they told me to take a nap, i laughed and made myself stay up, i was ready to go home! I was having a lot of shoulder pain, it was really bad, it had me crying. It pretty much went away though, right now theres a consent pain in my shoulder and im not sure if its because of gas or its because I lay on it at night. I dont need my pain meds, although i do take tylenol at night so I get a better night sleep. My port is a bit troublesome. It feels like its ripping everything inside my stomach! blah.... I just hope that goes away soon. When i sneeze, cough, or laugh, omg pain pain pain! Other then that everything is going great! Not hungry at all though, having to force myself to eat and drink and when i do my stomach feels like its going to explode.

Just banded Yesterday May 17th 2010... I am sick as a dog!!
My head feels like its about to roll off too! My neck was killing me these past two days, today I woke up and it seemed that its a bit better. Idk if its the way they posistioned it during surgery or the way I only been sleeping at one side. I had horrible gas pains in my left shoulder that I was crying! I take gas x extra strength , been walking, drinking as much Water as I can before I feel like my stomach is going to explode. Nothing helped it. Now i just always have this consent annoyance in my shoulder and im not sure if its still gas or if its cuz i sleep on it now. I refuse to take the pain meds they gave me because I am not in that much pain, I do used extra strength tylenol before bed because its hard to move around without my port hurting. I really think your fine (inless your fever is 101 or over, call your dr now!) other then that you should be feeling better any time now. Today, day 3 post op is the first day that I felt alive. lol goodluck!

Pre-op diet
A lot of mushies food are not very healthy. Plus your body is so use to having the liquids (mine being three weeks) that its prolly holding on to anything it can get at that time.

I'm Home!!!! Banded 5/17!!!!!
Congrats!! But i must ask, how did you get two shakes down? I cant even get one down, i only used 4 onces of milk and drank half of it before i couldnt drink anymore! I cant eat much. Which is a good and bad thing. Any pain? I am taking tylenol at night and i have gas pains in my shoulder but thats about it.

How long did it take you guys before you started getting hungry again? This is day two post op and my mom made me eat some soup and apple sauce (at two different times) and I felt so bloated after. I want nothing to do with food right now. I would like to just sleep till this pain goes away :-(

Anyone else?
I get banded monday and have been on a pre-op diet since may 3rd. I havent been hungry for about a week and a half now. I have to force myself to drink my shakes. Today I had a venti skinny iced latte from startbucks (im allowed coffee) and it filled me up, i was so full! I felt like i just ate a thanksgiving dinner. Everyone keeps saying they are hungry but I can relate to you when you say you look in the fridge and just want to throw up.
