  1. Congrats! I too, am an Abkin/Bertha patient!!! See you at support group!

  3. Hey Bandster Sister!!! Thanks for all your support. I will continue to sing and dance!! It's all about feeling good these day!!! :biggrin1:
  4. Hi Bandida, Like I said, every day brings something new. And its funny how I don't just 'sit at the table for dinner'. Each meal is an 'event'. HA! And I was worried that it would be boring for me; no longer 'social'. Boy was I wrong. JUST the opposite.
  5. Learn from my 'mistake'...don't let too much time pass by without trying them on! You just might be surprised how quickly you get into them!
  6. Well, in my case, as in many...as a Large person - I DID eat alot! hehehe I love the 'why do you ask' - it shuts up many a moron.
  7. Ok, so I bought The Bean glow up excercise devise. Looks like it would be a great workout for my big ol' hiney. Great for legs, thighs, etc. Am I a sucker? Anyone buy it, or have used it???
  8. Seems like a lifetime when I don't post here for a few days. I wrote the following and shared it on a different post. You are all the greatest support. Thank you... When I first heard about the band, I was amazed that I could possibly 'finally' loose the weight. Without Gastric Bypass Now that I'm banded, I'm amazed at the following: 6 weeks and 20 pounds gone 5 inches off my hips 2 off my waist 4 off my bust Just 6 weeks, and my boyfriends friends noticed yesterday..."Wow..you look great! Wish you'd teach my wife how to loose weight!" (mean, I know...but was a backhanded compliment of sorts). He said he saw me from the profile and couldn't believe it! Called me 'slim'...far from it - but it felt OH SO GOOD! I can fit into clothes from a few years ago - that I tucked away for 'when I loose the weight'. Well...I'm loosing it. I NEVER fit into the 'someday' clothes again. I have bought some clothes in size 14/16 - so I'll have something to wear in the fall. $10 rule; anything under $10 and two sizes smaller is SAFE. Whoops!...the blouses I can get into NOW! I am VERY aware of what I eat. Minimally processed, high protein, low carb - which has always made me feel better. I was dancing around the house tonight. Just dancing. Good mood...nah - just more energy. I am amazed that TWO chicken strips, and 4 potatoe fries - FILLED ME for dinner last night (me????) I normally could eat 8 chicken strips. AMAZED that I'm not eating at night. No urges to get up for any midnight snack. (though I do admit to my chocolate craving being satisfied!) As a matter of fact - I'm totally freaked out that I am satisfied - never feel 'FULL'. Whole different animal. Truly something that has to be experienced to be understood. I'm amazed that I went out Friday night, ordered my first glass of wine, and sipped it for nearly an hour!!! ONE glass of wine - 60 minutes THIS coming from a girl who's cats are named Martini and Cosmopolitan! AND...I passed on the glass of wine yesterday. Why??? In my head I thought; "Empty Calories, unneeded sugar...don't bother"! HA!!!! I am amazed that even "I" can tell that I'm loosing my old shell. I see my face looking different. My entire puffiness is gone. I've got my hourglass back!!! I know that I have a long journey ahead, alot more weight to loose. I have my 6 week check up on Thursday, and then perhaps we'll discuss my first fill. I know once that happens...I'll be learning to eat all over again. What I eat now, what I tolerate now - will not be - once I start getting fill restrictions. Doesn't matter to me. What matters is that I am now leading a life, that daily...is amazing me. <!-- / message -->

  10. Tylenol has GREAT cold medications!!! Tylenol Cold, Tylenol Sinus, and they have day/night forumulas - which are wonderful!!!!!
  11. I can tell you that many of us have health issues going in. For me, I was not diagnosed with my diabetes until I went in for my pre surgery physcial. My high blood pressure, I've been dealing with for about 3 years. Almost 6 weeks out; and my blood sugars have droped alot - enough that I'm now on 1/2 of my meds than I was before surgery. My blood pressure is now measuring at 114/74. I am thrilled.
  12. I will say that other than the immediate post surgical gas pains - eating without drinking is the hardest part for me so far. I love to drink - and feel its necessary to drink and eat. Well I did think that - but I've been very, very good at not drinking and eating. I didn't think it was possible - but it is.
  13. I was always and Advil girl...but I've adapted well to the Tylenol and their entire line of products.
  14. Desi, My prayers tonight will include you. Best wishes. Sheri Lynn
  15. I love that now that I'm loosing weight, I've lowered my blood sugars, as well as my blood pressure. I'm on my way to a healthy ME!:clap2:
  16. Well, I tried some cream of chicken soup for lunch - and it just wasn't 'good' for me - I chose to eat nothing. **Think I had my fill of cream Soups during post op care. So I had a few cups of hot tea with honey, and soreness was gone in a few hours. For dinner I stuck to mushies; I had 1/2 piece of stuffed tilapia filet. AND...I'm full - nothing stuck. Whew! Thanks again all! Now that THAT has happened, I don't fear it. Still fear the PB though! :omg:
  17. Since I'm just back to work now...I simply was NOT paying attention. Wow - that really hurt! I'm CERTAIN it could have been much worse. I'll get on the mushies for sure...liquids tonight though! UGH Thank you all for your input!
  18. Hey all... Being back to work, I wasn't paying attention to the slices of turkey I was eating. As a matter of fact, I'm certain I just bit, chewed and swallowed. Then came the PAIN! I didn't panic, as you've all educated me on what would happen. Anyway, now I feel 'sore'. Never PB'd or slimmed...just waited for the pain to go away, and everything unstuck. Now what? Should I only do liquids the rest of the day? I feel 'sore' in my chest now. Thanks Sheri :think
  19. Unfortunately, alot of processed, prepackaged foods are high in sodium; helps to preserve them. I have/had really high blood pressure...its perfect now. But I'm very aware of salt contents in food, and I know how much Water I retain when I'm on a high salt binge. Heck, even if you try all 'fresh' foods for a week - see if you notice a difference in the puffiness in your hands, fingers, ankles, etc. For me, it makes a difference. I'm also on the Special K Protein water kick. Each bottle has just 50 calories, but 5 grams of protein. Another way I get FULL when I'm feeling hungry; I put 1 cup of Skim Milk plus in a blender with ice, and my protein powder; it gets nice and thick - and it satisfies me for a long time.
  20. Hey Ryanband, First of all, congrats on that amazing weight loss!!!! Fabulous! Just a little advice I got from my nutritionist; beware of the Soups, and vienna sausages. The soups unless homemade, are most likely LOADED with sodium, which helps you retain Water. As for the vienna sausage - as 'cute and compact and yummy' as they are - they too are loaded with salt. I am really trying very hard to keep myself on NON-processed foods. Trying to stay fresh with most of what I'm eating now. Somehow it seems to fill me more too. I do eat tuna salad, egg salad, ham salad (high salt!). I had two links of italian sausage and some mushy green peppers - wonderful! And there is plently left over in that. I was plenty full on the two links. I'm also eating String cheese for Snacks, cottage cheese keeps me full. Salmon is a heavier fish and marinated in mustard, then baked - its delicious. I'm also experimenting with different types of sardines. I can't eat 'real' sardines, the skin and bones gross me out. But I'm trying the skinless/boneless- and one can is VERY high in Protein. How about a meatloaf made with ground turkey? For veggies, I'm cutting up broccolli, cauliflower, spinach - and putting it in a plastic ziploc type of bag with about 1/4 cup of water. I poke 3 holes in the bag on top - and microwave it - this steams the veggies. I'm not eating any pasta/carbs - though I did splurge on the little confetti potatoes at Trader Joes (another GREAT place to shop, if you have on in your area...great single serve frozen seafood and chicken dishes). There is a really great food Forum on this site - if my ideas were too boring for you; visit that thread - for some Wonderful ideas! If you have any recipies or ideas to share - feel free!!!
  21. I still have not weighed myself on my own scale at home; going on three weeks. I went to my nutritionist today for my first post surgical visit. He took my measurements and so far I've only lost 17 (on my surgeons scale, three weeks ago) but have lost 2" in my waist, 4" in my bust and 5" on my hips! I knew the clothes were getting loose - but thought that this was just too good to be true!!! So NOT weighing has paid off for me mentally. Even if I have gained some weight back to lack of restriction; the inches ARE coming off!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  22. Sweetheart.....N-E-X-T!!! Too many people who ARE in 'a good place' themselves, and will want to be happy WITH you.
  23. I was RIGHT!?????? :biggrin1: Nine days of "Goodbye Girl". Can ya give me a 10, 10, 10, 10?????
  24. Welcome and good luck!!!!
  25. I went to my nutritionist today for my first post surgical visit. He took my measurements and so far I've only lost 17 (on my surgeons scale) but have lost 2" in my waist, 4" in my bust and 5" on my hips! I knew the clothes were getting loose - but thought that this was just too good to be true. I can't understand how just 17 pounds can show such a huge measure!!! Was also told to add B-complex to my vitamin regimin, as well as get some fruits in my diet. Over all, he was very pleased with my 1 month progress. Unfortnately, my new insurance does NOT pay for any nutrionists visits!!!!
