  1. I've never inquired about this. I'm curious to know, if I drink 1/2 cup of Water, how fast does it empty out of the pouch? Only curious, b/c I'm being told to sip sip sip sip, etc. to keep me well and hydrated. I'm afraid of overflowing the pouch. Any ideas? I guess it varies, considering that I'm starting to understand NOW - 10 days later - that I'm swollen in there!
  2. GOSH.....you all inspire me! I'm 10 days out...and just miserable. For any of you who have read my posts, I'm just not feeling well. I want to feel good, plan dinners out, heck, I even want to have an appetite! I have no desire for food, Water, Protein shakes - nothing at all. Funny, isn't it!?? I've done walking around the house, too cold/icy here to go outside. Got on my rebounder just one day and walked for 5 minutes, thought I'd die afterwards. There is definately something to say for taking it easy!! Well, hopefully I'll head toward my two week mark feeling alot better, by next Tuesday. My first appointment for my after visit with the Doctor is on Wednesday.
  3. I've been struggling w/pain from gas etc since surgery. Taking percocet and tonight at 10 p.m. took liquid tylenol. At 12:20 just two hours ago, I had a burp. Not like any burp - it immediately made me feel horribly nauseous. I started to panic, I started to spit up just spit; no bile. Then came the spasms as if I was vommiting. Luckily I was able to stop it. I sat in the recliner for the last two hours, hardly moving. Put a cold cloth on my face and tried to relax. Just got up for the potty, and some more burps. I am horrified. This is really turning out to be a disaster for me. I don't feel pain, just some discomfort. How worried should I be about a slip? Should I call the Dr. in the a.m.?
  4. I know they told me the gas gets caught up in the shoulders; I'm past that point. Then the gas was moving up and down the belly. That's going too. Now I'm feeling more 'tingling' in the belly - air bubbles. But my biggest complaint is in my left lower back. I was worried it was my kidney. I was wondering if the bubbles can get 'caught' back there as well? I was increased today from 60 - 80 ounces of liquids...b/c of my pains, etc.
  5. I wish I felt like I was doing great, thanks for the encouraging words. This is like a soap opera to me. So much drama; would love to fast forward a few days. Get all the pain over with!
  6. Hey Enterprise, I'm just staying in sweats until the day I have to go back to work. Today was another horrible day; gas galore. I have it stuck by my left kidney. I just worry that it could be a kidney issue. I know, all sorts of crazy stuff goes through my head. Steri Strips didn't budge in the shower today. No rush, I don't think I want to see what lies beneath! lol I took a percocet today and it nearly knocked me out! I just laid down, and let that horrible feeling pass. I don't want to go to bed too early, as I'd love to be able to sleep through the night. I only have a few percocet left, so I'm rationing them. Did find a bottle of liquid Vicodin from my Dads surgery a few months ago. I may eventually have to dip into that.
  7. Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement. I suppose I'm not the most patient person. I did speak with the surgeons nurse practioner; she made me feel better as well. She said the same that all of you have been telling me - GIVE IT TIME! As for today, I've done alot of crying. But I'm over that now, and hopefully tomorrow there will be no tears.
  8. Hey That Girl, Again, we're in the same boat. NONE of mine have fallen off yet. And I don't go to the Dr. until 2/14!!!!! I'm assuming the longer the better; less scarring perhaps. Fortunately, they don't itch. I was told to be sure and use Dial antibacterial when I shower. My port steri strip has a bit of moisture, but I'm told thats normal.
  9. Hey That Girl, I'm up at this hour, trying to walk off the gas pains. Luckily, I'm not scheduled to go back to work until the 20th. Yup; taking all I can get. I want 'normal'...I just hope this won't be it!
  10. Enterprise, you are my hero! As horrible as it sounds, I'm so glad to know there is someone out there who is struggling. Its frustrating to think I'm the only one. I keep hearing all these 'I had my band put in on Wednesday, and Thursday I climbed Kilamanjaro'! I'm up now, b/c I'm trying to walk off the gas pains.
  11. OH LADIES! I'm 8 days post op; and miserable. I've got it all over this board. I want relief from the annoying pain in my tummy and the gas pains! I just want 'normal' back.
  12. I come on here for support; the best I could ever get anywhere - thank you all. But I also come on here now, since I've started feeling bad...and I'm just 'Debbie Downer'. I don't mean to be, thats not the person I am. I'm just reading all the January Bandsters posts; and everyone is doing so fabulous. And then there is me. Up again tonight with gas pains so uncomfortable, I'm just walking in circles. Mom keeps saying give it time, time, time. Yea yea yea. I'm being impatient perhaps. Some of the Bandsters around the same time as me, are up and out and about. Not me - I'm still weak and cranky and aggitated. I'm trying alot of 'self talk'...that I feel great, etc. Ain't workin'. lol I just feel that mine is the 1 in 100 that turns out bad after surgery. I'll tell you what, I'm down 12.5lbs in the week...and I'd rather not have lost anything my first week, in order to feel better.:sick
  13. Good lord, yes I'm taking the GasX strips. Tonight, I'm so uncomfortable, I'll do anything. Maybe a percocet to just knock me out. I've got to get rid of this gas. Seems to me that they're tinier bubbles now, more 'piercing' in the center of my belly. Actually feels like little pins and needles. Uhhhh. Only me. :faint:
  14. Thanks all. This is really helping me to feel like I'm not the odd man out. It's mental also, now eating for 'strength' and not for the sake of eating. Hopefully these aches will go away sooner than later, especially the gas pains.
  15. I was banded last Tuesday, Aunt Flo was supposed to arrive on Thursday (I'm like clockwork b/c of the BCP). Well, she barely made an appearance - I'm talking a drop. Then she was gone. Makes me a little concerened, but I know that anesthesia can do that sort of thing. As for the crying - You're talking to the Queen. This past week; I just cry for no reason. I feel like such a big baby.
  16. I had to be on clear liquids for 24 hours prior to surgery. That was it for me. Just be careful of the Last Supper Syndrome! Good Luck!
  17. Hey Diva, I can say "HECK NO"! With this dancing, you'd better check with your surgeon...twisting is a no-no the first few weeks worth of excercise. The port is still trying to 'settle' into its new home - and dancing could be too much, distruptive infact. As far as singing, my voice is still a little off from having the anesthesia tube down my throat. I'd rather see you get well before you did your play, or just put off the band until after the play is over.
  18. Hi, I'm just 8 days out. I know it was surgery, but nothing like a bypass would have been. I am very uncomfortable; still can't get a right position in the night to sleep through, without an Ambien. I feel like I'm getting some headaches, that can be due to the cold I've seemed to have caught right after surgery. My major complaint is that I don't feel 'normal', or 'good'. There are so many new feelings I'm dealing with - and I think for the most part I'm afraid they're going to stay with me. For instance, the way I burp is different, it's held back, and followed by a pain that feels like 'pricks'. In my stomach, I feel like it's pins and needles of sorts. I kind of expected to have the band, eat until full then empty - and feel hunger again. I haven't felt any hunger in over a week. HEHE - funny I should be complaining about that! Could this be the 'normal' that I will now be facing? Will I always have this 'pins and needles' feeling in my tummy? I'd kill to let out a good strong belch. I'm confusing gas with nausea. Heck, I think it's time I might have to get to the shrink...:faint:
  19. It sure seems to be the case with me. I'm 8th day post op. I have no hunger at all. I eat, out of necessity to keep my body fueled. Sure, creamy soups are not much, so I started with the cottage cheese at every meal just to have something more solid. But no more than 1/2 cup; I can't eat it - I'm stuffed. I'm guessing that my tummy is still swollen from the surgery, and that this may pass very soon.
  20. Hey all, I thought I was getting better, but got hit with this cold. I'm 1 week out today; and really haven't any desire to eat or drink. Is this b/c I have restriction? I eat maybe 1 cup MAXXXXXX at any given time. I'm really trying like mad to get my liquids in; but haven't reached 64 oz yet. I know, I know, its just a week. But at this point, I'd for sure think that I'd be hungry for SOMETHING. Heck, pizza wouldn't even float my boat right now. I just feel like I should be at another place. I see my doctor in 8 days. I guess my biggest complaint is feeling sort of weak due to not eating. THOUGH, I know I'm dying...lol - plenty of stored up 'fuel' on this hiney! Bugs me too, that burping has a different feeling, it almost hurts - definately uncomfortable. Maybe still gas bubbles from surgery? I just want to get up and GOOOOOOOOOO. Want to feel 'normal', I want to feel 'well'. I guess I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired this past week. :think
  21. Hey all... 1 week post op now. I came down with a nasty type of cold, with post nasal drip. I'm blowing out as much as possible, but I still feel a bit of a tickle in the back of my throat. I keep having fits of coughing. I'm worried...can this make my band slip? I suppose I should get some type of OTC cough syrup. Ugh...I hate being on all these meds!:help:
  22. Hey Sunshine2, Yes - I bought it and read it over the holidays - I thought it was fabulous! Today is another not so good day, still feel 'very sluggish' for 2nd day in a row. I am not hungry and definately not thirsty - so today will be a huge struggle for me. I have everything ready for me to eat and drink - but I hate forcing it all. Thank goodness for my protein bullets...I can get all my protein in just 6 oz. of liquids! Still not the best way...but I'm not feeling it at all. Don't know if its just mental, or if I'm physically not hungry. Read BGB post that she ate three eggs! I think I would die at that point - I can't even eat 1/2 cup of soup now, w/o putting it down and being 'done'. This part has to get better for me, or I won't be healthy. Still Debbie Downer today, sorry folks!
  23. Hi Imsusie, No worries about being too personal on THIS forum! I'm not having a probelm with going to the bathroom at all. Yes, still a ton of gas bubbles coming up. I don't think I'm dehydrated, I'm getting in plenty of liquids; other than today where I have no energy to drink...but I'm trying! Doc did call me back - pissed me off big time actually. He actual comment to me was "Well, why didn't you call the original doctor that gave you anti-nasea medication, instead of calling me, if you don't think this is surgery releated'. I was so taken back. I said, "Ok you're right - no problem". Now - it could be me, b/c i'm having a bad day - but I thought his comment was rude. If he was going togive me the RX anyway - why make the comment?? He is foreign, from Russia; so maybe it's something culteral - I don't know. At this point, I don[t have the engergy to even put into it. I got the RX; what I wanted - now I'm happy. I meet with him for my 2 week on 2/14. Maybe I'll bring him a Valentines heart. lol
  24. Welcome Sandra! If it weren't for the support of these amazing people on this board, I'd never have gotten through my surgery as well educated and prepared as I am! Good luck!!
  25. Slate, You're right - so I called back. I told them I want something. So, they're going to call the doctor. Sometimes the Nurses 'play' like doctors and give the commands. But they're so not wanting us to vomit; I would think they'd be all over it,giving me any RX for it that I want! So I'm waiting for him to call me. We'll see.
