  1. Sunshine2, Welcome back. You were dearly missed! I've missed all of your humor and cheerleader pep talks! I'm so happy to hear that you're on the road to a full recovery, and I'm very sorry to hear it's been painful for you. Wow; Calendar girl!!!!!!!!!! Just don't forget us (soon to be) little people here at little 'ol LBT!!!!! AWESOME news on the weight loss as well!!! Feel better, I'm sure each day will improve. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  2. And I'm so freaking out! Not sure if it's nervousness, excitment, anxiety - I just don't know. I AM addicted to being on the board every minute. lol This weekend I'm going to: Get laundry together Buy my New Whey Liquid protein for first few days Mani/pedi SHAVE Get out my slip on clothes and put them in a pile - easy access for the next couple of weeks Figure out what movies I want AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  3. I'm horrified of these chest pains from gas everyone is explaining. Perhaps b/c I've had issues with chest pain from my MVP in the past. Ughhhh, I'll gulp the gas-x. Anyone use the strips yet?
  4. I can tell you all this; after this surgery, my education is going to be geared toward diabetes and getting those sugars in check. This is terrifying. Thank you so much for your support! I'm not going to cancel after all. I figured that if they're thinking it's ok - then it is. And of course they'll check me on the day of surgery and if anything is awry, they'll stop the surgery I'm sure. Sheri
  5. RMS...GREAT idea for drinking, so I don't gulp! WILL DO!!! Girls...talk about vanity. I've been planning on what I'd 'wear' that day! How ridiculous! Like anyone really cares. But what is really funny, is that I bought an embellished long sleeve tshirt with three champagne flutes on it for New Years, it says 'Going, Going, Gone' each flute being less full. However, I thought of it as in as in the weight/fat, going going GONE. Therefore, I find it to be a rather fitting outfit, don't ya think?? I too will straighten the hair, so I don't have to deal with it. No makeup? LOL...the way I see it, if he's doing the in between leg surgery - the last thing that he'll have scaring him is the mug! hehehe Don't forget to wear slip on shoes!!
  6. Hi Heather - welcome to LBT!!! Wow, your post (1st one!!!) made me cry a bit. This whole diabetes things is just so new, still incredibly scarey and I'm not nearly as educated about it all as I should be. Yes, the doctor is aware. My fasting sugar on my A1C was 282. First thought it was a false positive; then we did it again two weeks later; 282. ONLY reason I even did the blood tests, was b/c of the band pre op requirements. I'd be willing to bet that I've been diabetic for a number of years, considering the symptoms I've shown of peeing alot and exssive thirst. I was actually listing 'my water' as the thing I'd miss most with the band. I too understand that many people who have the band, from the weight are Type II'ers as well. I've not yet been to an endrocrinologist; on my list of things to do 'after the band'. I've been putting all my energies into this surgery. Bad me, I know. But the MD has me on the glucovance; and was satisfied with that. The cardiologist and MD are both very happy with how well I've responded to the Blood Pressure meds, having me at a perfect 120/80. So now I go into the surgery, knowing that doctor knows best. I also have learned that just a 10% weight loss can make a huge difference in blood sugars. Even our nurse practiioner at the pre op class stated again and again. Thrilled me to bits. I don't want to get onto insulin - ever. At best, would love to get off the meds as well. And I have heard it can be done. Heather, thank you again for the post; it's given me a bright spot to my day. Again, welcome to LBT. You will not get more education about the band any other place than right here.
  7. Never tried baby foods...are they nasty tasting? I was considering getting a few for post op.
  8. CHARLOTTE!!!!!! I'm dying laughing! I am not 'Sher'. Sheri Lynn, or SHERI - if you do not know me! And even IF you know me...my name is still Sheri at least. Like nails on a chalk board. Funny though, some people, can just 'get away with it' - and I don't mind. OR...when people insist on singing "Sheri Baby", "My Sheri A'mour", "Oh Sheri". Like I never heard that one before! Also...when people WEAR TOO MUCH PERFUME! What are you trying to cover up with all that stank?????????????? :angry
  9. Just got back from Cardiologist 12:30 appointment. Finally saw him at 1:15, so he could listen to the heart for 5 seconds, take the BP 120/80 and sign the clearance sheet. He told me that he thinks the band is a GREAT tool; he's seen many patients be successful. The twist; when he told me that its extremely dangerous for me to go into the surgery with high blood sugars. My diabetes was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago; been on Glucovance for just that long. There is not much more I can do before surgery time now, to bring the sugar levels down. He did mention they will monitor/control this in the hospital. Also said that he'll get me some 'education' in the hosptial (testing my own blood, etc). So now - I'm HORRIFIED! I was too scared to ask him what could happen. I'll be in the hospital; a specialty bariatric center!! I'm assuming they deal with issues like mine all the time. I lef there in tears, wondering if I should delay, until my sugars come down. Advice?:cry
  10. Funny you mentioned Omaha Steaks Jack...on Sunday that will be my 'Last Supper'...their Filet and Lobster Tail.
  11. What made the determination for your surgeon to remove the gallbladder? did you ever have pain/symptoms before?
  12. Never had a problem belching before (Oh...how ladylike!)...hope I don't after the band!!!
  13. Hey all, 12:30 is my appointment with the crooked Cardiologist. Hopefully my clearance will be faxed over to my surgeon...UGH! As far as the panties go...I'll save mine as a souvenir - tent, parachute, tablecloth, car cover.....
  14. Well....in my younger years, I'd say something like "Wouldn't be the first time". But I'm a more 'mature' woman now with some class!
  15. Well, then I guess it's HIS problem...I'll be out like a light! lol. Then I will go for the brazilian. lol
  16. This is probably the silliest question, and I would THINK the obvious answer is 'yes'….but under our hospital gowns, do we go into surgery without panties? Just asking, since someone said the doctor operates from between our legs. I guess I was just starting to get my creepy, freaky thoughts. Like 'what would my boyfriend think'! lolol :biggrin1:
  17. So far, nothing has been cancelled...just not 'cleared'. Tomorrow, God on my side - I'll walk out of the Caridiologist with that clearance...and Tuesday will still be THE BIG DAY. Shouldn't be an issue, my Stress Test, etc. were no more than three weeks ago!!!!! Send some good vibes my way!!!!!!
  18. At this point, I can't wait to look back at all my anxiety I'm now expressing here just 6 days out - and laugh - because I'll be a pro!

Can someone give me instructions on how to post some pics as well? Thank you, Sheri
  20. Hey all. I went for my cardiac tests in December, Nuclear Stress, EEG, so on and so forth. Dr. B (the cardiologist) wanted me back in his office on 1/10 to read me the results. They don't have late hours, so that means more time off work. I called the office and asked if he could just call me on the phone for results, since I knew I'd be out of the office upcoming. Sure enough, he called me, all was fine. He said "You'll have your clearance". GREAT, right? No…not so 'right'. Turns out I called the office last week, as I've been feeling a bit dizzy or lightheaded. I've gotten on some more meds the last month or so - and was also taking some OTC meds for a sinus infection. No biggie, right? WRONG! The nurse went onto tell me that I won't be able to have surgery on 1/30 until he give me clearance. Huh? I called my surgeon - and sure as anything - the doctor NEVER mailed in my clearance. So now they have me by the 'b*lls' (you know what I mean). So NOW…I have to take time off of work tomorrow - anyway…to go into see the doctor. He wants to take my vitals. If all is good, I'll have the clearance. The kicker is this: the nurse told me that the clearance was in my file - just never mailed!!!!!!!!!!! I am livid! I know he's just trying to 'save his butt'…but come on!!!!!!! So now, I have to wonder if my Tuesday surgery will happen or not. I'm sick over it. BTW, I stopped the OTC pills - and haven't been dizzy at all.
  21. I think the only regret I'll have is not having it done sooner. Giving up soda, I imagine, would be better than living with gout, NO??? There is alot of give and take with the band. You give it respect, it takes down your weight.
  22. I am so very deeply sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you all.
  23. Yes...THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR WEIGHTLOSS! This is your time of HEALING~! Weightloss is not, and should not be expected until after your first fill. :faint:
  24. What is the actual brand and name of this product?
  25. New? My suggestion - read this forum, thread by thread. There is more information here, than you'll get anywhere. And what you can't find - just ASK, and we'll all make our best effort to answer your questions! Welcome!! Sheri
