  1. I'm suppose I could add milk too, for some added Protein and to thin it out. I did put the cream of potatoe in my 'Ultimate Chopper' and it came out too fluffy. I heated it anyway, but it was way too thick. I wanted more of a soupy consistency.
  2. Am I supposed to blend down any 'chunks' that might be in the creamy soups; mushroom, chicken, potato, shrimp? Not sure.
  3. This is my day three post op; and I can't even imagine leaving the house early in the a.m., taking a 1 hour commute, and working all day. Seriously; I can't even imagine doing it next week at this time! The night of surgery and night two - omg; forget it. Last night, I hardly slept in the bed. I'm not a back sleeper and that's really all I'm limited to right now. I get very stiff also.
  4. I knew I'd have gas pains...but my band went in Tuesday, and by yesterday Noon, the pains have turned into Tummy GROWLS! It's upsetting me, b/c I'm not sure if the tummy is hungry, or it's only the gas, or if I'm making the stomach work too hard with all the liquids? I mean, literally these sounds woke me up in the middle of the night! I'm trying to pass gas when I can, sitting on the potty for a while...not much coming out. Let's just say I'd be embarrassed if I were out in public! Today is day 3 post op. Doctors instructions read "Day 3 - 4 start adding cream Soups, etc.". I WAS going to wait until tomorrow - but now I'm not sure.
  5. Hey Ryan...Just be careful of the refried beans if you're still having issues with the gas pains; don't want to add insult to injury!
  6. I was banded on Tuesday and our experiences are IDENTICAL! My gas pains didn't come until later on day 2...so beware - they suck! I'm trying to walk and walk to alleviate the discomfort. I did for 'liquids'; jello, apple juice, water, and broth. Just mash up the jello really well.
  7. I am so worried about getting dehydrated that I'm really doing a good job at forcing liquids down. First 48 was clear liquids and today I was allowed to add protein shake; so I did whey into my chicken broth. Had an ice pop, some apple juice, jello. Can go to full liquids on Saturday...I'll try every soup out there. Trying not to let it get monotonous. Gas pains are rough; I too had an 'accident' today - thank the lord I wore a Poise pad just incase. My bandages came off as well, just left with steri strips. TINY little incisions; but the port looks larger than I thought it would be. But I'm not getting up close and personal with it either. Going to try to sleep in the bed tonight; the recliner is NOT good for sleeping.
  8. Thanks all. I am kind of in awe of those of you who were 'Great, and back to work in two days'. I can't even imagine. You are superheros! I can't turn back now, I can only face my future head on, and know I'll get back to a normal. It won't be the normal I was pre-band. But it will be 'routine'. I feel jarred now - routine is better!!! :omg:
  9. Hey Big Trouble, I can GUARANTEE, if you take the time and read through the posts on LBT, you will find the answer to all of these particular questions. The 'search' option is priceless! Welcome to LBT! Don't be nervous...this is EXCITING!
  10. Hey Gigi, Was also banded the 30th. PAIN in my belly; especially the port area. As for these gas bubbles, up and down - OUCH! I just keep trying to walk them out!
  11. Funny how my mouth was literally watering on Monday night. Now...nothing. lol
  12. Post surgery, did you all count your jello toward your liquids? My 'head hunger' is here today. By no means am I physically hungry; no way. But this is my first day home alone, and I'm 'bored'. Keep going to the fridge. Jello is the only thing I'm allowed. And tonight, after my first 48 hours, I can add a protein shake. I'm drinking so slowly though...it's crazy. Barely made 50oz yesterday, day 1. Today its slower, since the gas pains are here now. I am going to the potty, so at least I know I'm not dehydrating. I was told to aim for going pee three times a day; and I'm in check with that. Wow...this is so emotional. Especially today. My Dad is too cute, i have to start thinking like a thin person is what he told me. Yup, I guess so!!!
  13. This is a great question, b/c in the "Inamed" manual - they are saying no more than 1/4 cup of food at a time. I'm confused.
  14. Hey all, Was banded on Tuesday; its not been 'easy'. So anyone who EVER tells me that I took the easy way out will catch a beating! Pain in the stomach is so much worse than I had expected. I suppose I was ignorant - who knows. I mean, I'll live. It's just that now, two days later I'm getting the worst of the gas bubbles - and it's hell - beware. I haven't had food since Sunday; and I'm not hungry. I know this will go away; and the hunger will hit me at some point. I laid awake last night again (can't sleep comfortably at all)...wondering - what have I done? I'm a wreck about my future. I don't doubt my ability to follow Bandster rules - I am a very compliant patient. What worries me at this moment in time are things like "Is this sip too big". WHAT??? Too big of a sip of Water? Seems so crazy. Maybe its that I'm still sensitive emotionally after the anesthesia. Then reading up on the booklet from the actual 'Lap Band Company'...how much they stress - DO NOT VOMIT. EVER?? OMG - and if I do - I'll be damned to hell. Good lord, I'm terrorized right now. When will my 'normal' come to me? Months, years? Will I ever feel normal, for a Bandster? I'm going through episodes of the 'shakes'...no fever, could be the pain, pressure or emotions. Sorry all; just had to vent. Sheri Lynn
  15. Hey all, Yesterday was my day. Turns out my doctor sent me home, I did not stay over night. My 8:45 a.m. turned out to be about 12:30; so there was alot of anxiety. My nurse couldn't get vein for my I.V., neither could the anesthesiologist! I was poked and poked! Oh boy! Finally got it. I was a bundle of nerves in the 'holding area'. I expressed my concern about the gas. I can say last night when I was sent home around 6, I did have pain in my shoulder; but for the most part; it's all gone! I am thrilled. But I am EXTREMELY sore, across my belly right along the top of the ribs. 4 incisions, no black and blues as of yet. Last night I tried to sleep in the recliner; that was horrible by 4:30 a.m. I had to just MOVE. I got incredibly stiff, but I walked in circles in the house for about an hour. I gave in and took two percocets. I put that off, b/c I didn't want nausea. Right now, I'm probably not making much sense, b/c I am EXHAUSTED. No sleep Monday night, none last night. Finally made it onto the bed for a bit this a.m. for a 2 hour 'nap'. HOW DO YOU GET liquids IN? I have had not much since I got home last night, maybe two Water bottles full, some Jello. Thats about it. I think I'm afraid of taking too big a sip. I'm also afraid it won't all go down. I keep waiting about 5 minutes in between. I feel a bit weak, still tired. Ok, I'll write more later. GAS X strips I think did the trick too.
  16. Hey That Girl, I have everything crossed for you, fingers, toes and eyes!
  17. YESSSSSSSSSSS, Best of Luck to all my 30th Bandsters!!!!!!
  18. Hey all, I got through my liquids today fine; I lived - go figure! Though at 6 p.m. my stomach made noises I have NEVER heard it make! LOL; she must be in SHOCK! My hospital called for me to be there at 8:45. Big difference from the 5:30 a.m. I was originally told. I called the surgeons office and they've switched me from the 1st surgery to the 2nd. I was a little annoyed, figuring I could wake up; go get it done and that would be that. The extra few hours are just more anxiety for me. Bags are packed, magazines and a squish pillow for the ride home. I'm really, really, really anxious, scared, nervous now. Tears in my eyes as I write. The 2nd guessing has started, wondering if this is crazy or not. Even thought "Hey, I can get through a day all liquids, maybe I can do this alone!". Then of course, my 'history' speaks for it self when it comes to weight loss. Then my Aunt called and said "Sheri Lynn, I don't now how you're going to do this - it's going to be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard". I sort of froze. I know she didn't mean harm. But it hit me like a ton of bricks. Anyway, thanks everyone; say a prayer for me tonight - as I know tomorrow - I'll be bundle of nerves. Hopefully they'll give me some happy happy meds when I arrive. I'll write when I can!!! Sheri Lynn:girl_hug:
  19. Well, tomorrow is all clear liquids, for one day prior to surgery. Tonight my father is cooking for me; lobster tail and filet mignon from Omaha Steaks. Mom opened a bottle of Korbel to reflect my 'Going, Going, Gone' attitude with the weight. I know compared to many of you who have had a long pre op diet; this seems like non-sense. But regardless, tomorrow is going to be difficult for me. No solids, and the day before surgery. Yikes. Nerves are creeping in for sure. I definately couldn't be any more ready than I am now. I am just wanting to be healthy. I've packed my overnight back for the hospital, got my Rx's together and I think that's it. I'll be sure to check in tomorrow. Alot 'busy' stuff planned to keep me going and the mind occupied. I'm hoping I sleep LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. My Aunt Flo is due in town on Thurday, I have my Band Surgery on Tuesday. I pretty much anticipated not being able to bend over the for tampons, so I bought the big ol' pads. Mom tells me they used to be secured in with BELTS! Bad enough now, but belts???/ Oh lord. knowing my luck, it will come during surgery. Just my luck.
  21. I went to Vitamin Shoppe and bought 12 (2.9oz) of IDS New Whey liquid protein bullets. They're 25 grams per 'shot'. Figured a good way of getting in alot of protein in the start, when I'm sure my intake of even fluids will be very limited...first day or two. 12 shots were $30. Found it cheaper online, but with S&H, would have been about the same. Also bought a 1.35lb jug of "ON" brand Whey protein powers. Tasteless, with 17g/protein per 20 gram scoop. I can add this to my water, tea, crystal light, soups, cream of wheat, etc. That was $20. Headed to Target where I picked up a pill splitter, more tylenol liquid and a food scale. They had all sorts of digital ones that were all fancey for $30 -$40. Didn't need all that fancy stuff. Bought one of the good old fashioned types that weighs up to 16oz, for $5.99!! Also bought Benefiber tablets in citrus flavor - OMG; GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I had to spit it out. Way more bitter than any Vitamin C tablet I've ever had. I'm pretty much ALL set. I did want to get some more gourmet types of soup from Wegemans, but I figured I have some time before I should be getting fancy. For my day before, I'll just be having a little s/f jello and College Inn. Eck!
  22. I'm not from there, but I'm always in the Caribbean in Spirit! GRAND CAYMAN, BABY!!! Just 9 months away!!!!!
  23. So now comes the doubts again. More so, am I prepared at home? I have enough canned Soups to provide for a small country in Africa! Heating pad, Gas X, etc. I actually took the list from here, and checked everything off. The one thing I'll pick up today is the New whey liquid Protein, and Benefiber. I have always been one with loose bowels, can't imagine constipation!!! I'll be up on that! The other doubts; about my surgical team. Can they be sure to keep me asleep (not waking up during surgery), as I've said - huge fear of mine. And someone mentioned on here to keep my hands moving, so they're sure I'm not yet under anesthesia. Then i looked at all the scars. Scars don't scare me, stitches, none of that. What I keep wondering, and I'm not even sure I want to know the answer; how do they get the tools 'down in the belly'? Somehow, I imagine getting poked like a turkey with a heat thermometer before it goes in the over. Poke, Poke, Poke! UGHHHHHHHHH, I gross myself out thinking about it. As for Monday, the day before where I can't eat anything, I've filled my day with tasks;shopping for new slippers, mani/pedi, color my mom's hair, etc. THREE days to a new beginning.:clap2:
