  1. Sorry you are having a hard time. You said your eating- is your dr. ok with this? Most people are on liquids for at least a week post op. I have experienced vomiting, but the food comes up right away- easily. Hope you feel better soon!
  2. I was only on liquids for one week- then soft foods for a week, then solids. I had no trouble at all. I agree, your doctor is very strict.
  3. I was told full liquids right away. I didn't have any problems. Seems different doctors give different orders. I don't think you've done any harm. Good luck in your journey!
  4. You are in what is known as bandster hell. The time after surgery before you get restriction. Hang in there! It will get easier. Your doc. is right to watch the carbs- I also eat very low fat. Lots of protien! Try to stay away from prepared, processed foods. I would ask your dietician to go over some specific guidelines for you. Doesn't sound like he/she has been real helpfull so far. Best of luck!
  5. Super job! Keep it up!
  6. Yes- everyone needs a cheerleader or 2. My friends and family are always so encouraging. I can't imagine doing this without them. Keep up the great work, you are doing awsome!
  7. I journaled for about the first 4 months after surgery. I have to admit, I don't anymore. I got into such a routine with what I eat I feel like I don't need to. I have a limited repertoire of things i have for me 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. However, if someone is struggling I would highly reccomend journaling.
  8. Stay positive! You are doing well.
  9. Awesome! Congratulations to you. Keep up the excellent work.
  10. Fantastic! Keep up the great work!
  11. Try not to focus on the number on the scale. Are your clothes looser? Since your working out, you may be gaining some muscle, which weights more then fat. I suggest you stay off the scale, except for once a week. The natural flucuations in your weight will drive you crazy.
  12. I vote to celebrate with a spa treatment. They are my favorite way of rewarding myself. I love a massage and a facial. Congrats!
  13. I think you will know more once you get to solid food. That is when restriction really comes into play. Fluids just slide right down to your big stomach. Don't hesitate to call for another appointment if this fill doesn't do the trick. Best wishes!
  14. I use straws. Infact, when I get water from the doc. after a fill they give it to me with a straw. As stated above, I find it easier to take nice small sips using a straw. Guess every doc. if different.
  15. Some doctors do a fill while you swallow barium- that way they can see how much restriction you have by how fast the barium goes through. Mine doesn't do that. He bases the amount of fill on what I tell him- as far as how hungry I am et... It's easy- he injects a local and then uses a long needle to access the port. I don't even feel the big needle (although it was a shock the first time I saw it). Afterwards, he always has me drink water to make sure that goes down fine. Congrats on your surgery, I'm sure your fill will go just fine.
  16. Are you swollen around the ankles? If so, this is not good for your tissue. You may want to ask your doc. for a diuretic.
  17. I am at the 6 month point as of today. Things have gone really well. Restriction has come and gone, but I have been able to ride the waves of hunger. I still vomit once in a while, and am starving other times. Go figure. I am off all of my weight related meds (high cholesterol, blood pressure and diebetes). I have lost 73.5 pounds. I started at 217. My goal used to be 120 (I am only 4'11) but now I think I want to go a little lower- maybe 110. We'll see as it gets closer I guess. Was hoping to reach goal in a year, and that seems to be very doable. Well- hope everyone out there is doing well. Just wanted to share. I love my band!
  18. Sounds like you are doing great! Hope in continues!
  19. I wouldn't compare one scale to another- they are all going to be slightly different. I go by my bathroom scale in the morning, after using the bathroom. I only get on it once a week. I don't even think about the weigh ins at the doctors. That is fantastic your clothes are looser and your face is looking thinner. Focus on those positive things! You are doing great!
  20. A small pillow for the ride home, to put between the seatbelt and your lap. I had read about it and was so glad I did it, made the ride home much more comfortable. Best of luck!
  21. 800 calories isn't very much. Your body may be in "starvation mode". I would actually try eating more, and you may see that scale drop. Hang in there! It will happen!
  22. I would ask for a fill at your next appt. I had my first fill 6 weeks out. Just be aware the first fill may not do it. It often takes several to get restriction- took me 3. Until then, hang in there. I suggest focusing on eating the right things, even if your portions are bigger than they will be with restriction. Best wishes!
  23. It's lasted for some time now. Have you talked to your doc.? I would if I were you. Feel better!
  24. You are right- everybody is different. Sounds like you are doing great. Not sure what to tell you about what size to buy. Maybe make small misestones by buying only a couple size smaller then you are now. It will feel great to fit into the clothes and it won't take forever.
