Thanks, I go to the doctor tomorrow. I hope to have good news afterward.

Thanks to all. I agree that I need an alternative. I think I will take up quilting again to keep my hands busy when the cravings start. I will try some version of a sugar free treat to help me out.

Someone else mentioned protein shakes....I think maybe frozen protien shakes might help.

Good for you! I am working on starting to run....I walk and strength train...but running..not yet. YOU GO!
-
You did so well! I did a 5k today also. It makes me feel really good to be out there actually doing it. A year ago it would not have been possible. Keep up the good work!

Good for you! I cant run due to a broken vertabre in my lower back so I walk. I am planning on entering my first offical 5K. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 5K. So, I have stepped up my treadmilling...I did my first 5K Friday morning in 61 minutes...but I finished my practice. I am going to work on my time and keep going so I can have a decent showing during the official 5K in early October. Just keep plugging. I know you will reach your goal!

Hi Bubbles,
The one thing that got me thru the liquid diet without munching was keeping my hands busy just like some smokers who are quitting have to do. I took up needlework and knitting....I know corny right, but it worked for me. Kept my mind busy while while I zoned out and relaxed in the evenings before bed....for me that used to be the sneaky snacking time...Obviously crafting may not be your thing....but if you find something to focus on it will make the hunger fade into the background instead of being in your face all the time. Good Luck!

:lol:Thanks for all of the support! I will keep trying. Hopefully, I can check back in soon with a postive results post....I can see 100 off in the distance looks pretty good to me!

Sunflower80,
I too have had a hard time losing. I had a terrible plateu. I just purchased a Bodybugg. It was kinda pricy but it helped me lose 7.5 pounds in the last two weeks. It really helps me track my intake and my calorie burn. I love it. Just something to think over. Good Luck! Don't give up!

Wonderful! I am at a plateu right now. I am four + months out and have lost 55 pounds. I would love to be where you are at the 6 month mark. I just donated four 55 gallon bags of size 26-30 clothes this weekend. Now my closet looks lonely with three pairs of 22 jeans. But I am smiling really big :-) I know you are too! Keep up the good work.

Ok. I was banded 12/16/2009. Since I have lost 50 pounds. But for the last 5 weeks I have lost not one pound. Just See-Sawing back and forth with the same three pounds. Joined a gym 2 weeks ago. Got a trainer at the gym to help me with the equipment (I don't want to end up hanging upside down from some of the equipment...It is all alien to me.) So five days a week I am getting in at least 30 min of cardio and 2 days a week I am doing circuit with a trainer.
I had a fill in March which I thought was too tight. Now I am asking was it really too tight. I could not eat breakfast until 10 ish then I would struggle to get in 3 oz of yogurt. I definately was not getting enough fluids. So, the fill was reduced by .3. Now no problems in the eating area or with getting fluids.
I need some advice or ideas from a seasoned lapbander.
Thanks.

It is wonderful to feel really great. I just hit the 50 pound mark. Me, I have lost 1/2 a hundred pounds. I look around sometimes and wonder if this is really me. It doesn't seem real. I still have a long long way to go with 80 more pounds. But I think I can I think I can! I just keep chugging

Congrats on losing weight and being so active and into exercise. I am working on my exercise level. I to have serious sciatica. I went to a shoe store that sells running shoes. They did a custom fit for me into insoles. I got insoles and running (in my case treadmill shoes) shoes for $140.00 for me that is a big investment in myself as I have 5 children. But the shoes and inserts have helped my pain level. And now I am able to walk on the treadmill (holding on to the treamill seems to help the pain level too).

GOOD JOB! I know how hard it is when the scales don't move like I want them too.

I recently hit the 40 pound weight loss bench mark and I noticed a few things.......
1. I am only 10 pounds away from 50 which is half of 100:thumbup:
2. I now have a place to rest my hands when I put them on my hips to "discuss things" with my 5 children. (waistline who knew I had one?)
3. My fat girl jeans now look like they belong to a circus clown...never realized that before. That explains alot of things in my life:tongue_smilie:
4. "EGGBEATERS" really are manna from above.
5. The treadmill is more than just a closet anex.
I never knew this weightloss journey would lead me to so many new realizations. On top of everything, I feel good today better than I have felt in a long long time.

That is great! What are you doing to be so successful? Give us all some hints. I have lost 25 pounds in almost 2 months. It has been a struggle.
-
Thanks for your insight. I am trying not to panic. I just want this to work so badly. It has been a long time since I have been healthy and fit. I am having a hard time recalling those memories. My children will be proud to have a mommy that can do physical things with them.

I am afraid. I am frustrated. I began my journey 12/1/2009 with the Pre Surgery Diet. I thought it would kill me, but I made it with the hope of losing weight long term. Surgery went well 12/16/2009. I had lost 18 pounds by the day of surgery.
The month since has not been good. I have only lost 2 pounds for a total of 20. I want to cry. My family (5 kids and husband) sacrificed $12,000.00 for me. That is money I could have used to support them but instead I am afraid that the money has been wasted on me. The expese is worth it if I can lose the weight and get healthy. The walls of the doctors office are lined with before and after photos of people who have lost 100 + pounds in a years time. I am afraid of being a failure.
I have had one fill on 1/5/2010. I have another appointment on 1/26/2010. Hopefully, I will get another fill. I am exercising. I purchased a treadmill that I am actually using. The first day was 5 minutes of huffing and puffing. Now I can do 40 minutes of huffing and puffing (LOL).
I just needed to vent to other lapbanders who may understand my frustration and fears.
Thanks.

Thanks for the extra info. I did not know that I would retain so much fluid. But I still have no loss on the scale....but no gain either...I am feeling a little deprived now. Christmas cookies are definately a weakness.

I am newly banded 12/16/2009. So, far the gas pains in my shoulders have been my biggest problem. But now I am starting to freak out a little because I have not lost an ounce since surgery. I have been fanitical about not eating many carbs and keeping my foods very high in protein. I have my first fill on January 5. I hope I will begin to see results after that. I have not been exercising because I havent felt well. I did the frantic shopping trip to WAL today but tired out before an hour had elapsed.
I just want to get the weight loss going again I lost 18 pounds during the pre surgery diet.
-
I am excited about having my surgery day in two days. But tonight I am worried that the clear liquid diet which includes broth soups is making me retain fluid...My feet and hands are swollen. I guess tomorrow will be spent without any broth. :crying: Hopefully, I can get the extra fluid off before I weigh in for surgery. Yikes! PS. I am sick of jello.
