Newbie Blues

I am newly banded 12/16/2009. So, far the gas pains in my shoulders have been my biggest problem. But now I am starting to freak out a little because I have not lost an ounce since surgery. I have been fanitical about not eating many carbs and keeping my foods very high in protein. I have my first fill on January 5. I hope I will begin to see results after that. I have not been exercising because I havent felt well. I did the frantic shopping trip to WAL today but tired out before an hour had elapsed.

I just want to get the weight loss going again I lost 18 pounds during the pre surgery diet. :cursing:

Don't worry quite yet - your body is healing. Because of swelling (even if you can't see it, it's there) there is fluid retention. As the swelling subsides and you keep watching the carbs and keeping the protein up - you will start to see small things happen. But don't worry - it's still early!

LAP-BAND Patients

In my pre-op education, we were told to expect about a 10 pound GAIN from all the fluid they pump into you while you are in the hospital and because of the swelling. I'm so glad they told me that so I did not freak out. Cause, sure enough, I did have a 10 pound gain and it is only starting to go away now and I was banded on 12/17. I'm sure once we have healed, our diligence will show on the scale. If it helps any, my doctor told me my only job this month is to heal and to not worry about the scale... that we would work on the scale AFTER my first fill.

Thanks for the extra info. I did not know that I would retain so much fluid. But I still have no loss on the scale....but no gain either...I am feeling a little deprived now. Christmas cookies are definately a weakness.
