Pre-op Question
To make people like me crazy and yell at Insurance company's on the phone! :-P jk (sorta) I agree, I think it's BS as well.

Lap Band vs Realize Band
My surgeon only uses lapband and she said because she feels like it's more sturdy, she said to her the realize looks a bit more flimsy but that's just her opinion. I told her it didn't really matter to me so I have a lapband.

Food addictions and lap band!
Although I am still kinda new at the lap band thing I can tell you this, right now I have no fill and I was feeling hungry at the end of my liquid diet phase (all liquids 2 weeks after surgery) now that I've moved onto my mushy phase I actually don't feel as hungry. I'm guessing as I move onto solids and get the right adjustment I will not feel hungry either. I would definitely do your research and maybe even talk to some people who have been banded longer than me.

BMI - With or without Clothes?
I've always weighed in with clothes on. Actually my very first weigh in they even let me keep my shoes on! But since then I've taken my shoes off. Like the previous poster has said most surgeons want you to have surgery so they will help you out on the sly :-)

Awaiting insurance approval ~ getting cold feet :0/
Hello! Welcome to the boards :-) My name is Elizabeth (or Liz) 27 single no kids. I was banded a little over 2 weeks ago after waiting about a year and half for this surgery. Once I had a date I had a bad case of cold feet probably up until they put me under but next thing I knew I was waking up and here I am weeks later and feeling great. As long as you follow your doctors orders you should be fine. My surgeon suggested I not get pregnant for at least a year to a year and a half after surgery but other than that there shouldn't be any problems with you getting pregnant with your band. Hope I was of some help. :-)

Insurance appeal
First off good luck with everything!! I had to do the 6 months of weigh ins BUT at first I was told by my insurance company that I didn't have to but when my surgeon's office sent everything in all of a sudden I had to have 6 months of weigh ins. Instead of appealing I just did it and honestly it was over before I knew it. Hope everything works out for you though.

Drinking before and after eating
I was told no drinking 15 minutes before a meal or 45 minutes after. Today was the first time I had to do this, it's harder than I thought!

What's the skinny????
So far I've dropped about 30 pounds from my pre liquid diet weight but then again I haven't really eaten whole foods. I am starting to feel a little hungry (hoping today is different since I start mushy's) but still loosing every few days.

Musy Food Menu
Thank you both. I had a scrambled egg this morning with some cheese and it was AMAZING! Funny party is I hate eggs lol. I should of probably added that I am somewhat of a picky eater. So although most of this stuff sounds good I don't like a lot of it but then again look at what happened with the eggs.

Musy Food Menu
First off I am quite excited to be post on this side of the form FINALLY!! Anyway I am 2 weeks and a day our of surgery and FINALLY I am moving onto mushy foods but I need a little help. I am going food shopping tonight for some mushy food menu items and I am kind of at a loss. I am going to pick up yogurt and ricotta cheese and some cauliflower that I can mash. Anyone have any other suggestions!?!?! Thanks so much!

Sleep Study
This is how my sleepy study's went. First time I went they just supervised then when I went back I slept with the CPAP and they compared the 2 results. I wasn't scheduled for surgery until all my doctor visits were done including the sleep study so unfortunately can't help with your 2nd question.

Considering the Lap Band
Hello! I am newly banded (2 weeks yesterday). First off congrats on getting started on the journey!!! I too decided to get banded because one day I want to have a baby, right now at the weight I was pre op (303 lbs standing at 5'8) it wasn't looking good. Since before my liquid diet I've lost about 30 pounds and I am already feeling better about life! For me it took about a year and a half to get everything done but that was because I had quite a few hiccups in my journey with insurance and other stuff. I also work from 10 to 6:30 at a company that frowns upon you taking off too much or leaving early so it was a little difficult to make doctor appointments. It was hard work and I can't say there weren't times when I didn't want to give up but if you asked me to re do it all again I would. Surgery day I was a bundle of nerves but before I knew I was waking up and walking around the halls. I wasn't in much pain the day of surgery but I did have some soreness and gas pains the next day (it was probably the worst day). Everyday after that the pain got less and less and as of right now all I have is some occasional shoulder pain and I'm still a little sore where my port is. Hope I helped some!

I got insurance approval yesterday!
I stopped smoking about 2 weeks before surgery but was never asked to take a test for it. I just decided that the band was more important that the cravings and it's worked so far!
