Waiting.....patiently! (Sort of a Vent)
I got the best news yesterday, finally have my date!!! And I AM a March Bandster. After 2 years of waiting I have less than 2 weeks to go for my surgery. Thank you all for your words on encouragement, they really meant a lot!

EKG abnormal
Hopefully this is just a minor speed bump and everything will turn out fine. I hurdled many of them on my journey and it was frustrating but I got over them, as will you! Good luck.

Having some serious second thoughts
Honestly I see what you're saying but the reason I'm getting the band is because when my will power fails me I can say to myself "You have a band in your body and if you decide to eat more than you should, you can mess it up and cause harm to yourself." I know if I tell myself that it will make me stop because I know how hard I've worked for this and what I've gone through to get here and I don't want to mess that up.

How long after surgery consult was your surgery scheduled?
So far I've had 2 surgical consults but that's because my original surgeon left the practice. My 2nd consult was in April and as of right now I am still waiting for a date, should have one by the end of the week. It all really depends on what your insurance requires or if you do self pay it will depends on what the surgical office requires. Good luck!!!

Insurance Approved
Congrats!!

Waiting.....patiently! (Sort of a Vent)
Thank you all for your words of encouragement, they mean a lot. I got a call from the surgeons office today and my file is being reviewed as we speak. They are hoping the surgeon comes in today that way they can go over it with her and hopefully either tomorrow or Wednesday they will call to check my availability. I see the light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully soon I'll be a March or April bandster!! Good luck to those who don't have a date yet, believe me I know how frustrating it can be but now that I see that light it's all coming together and VERY worth it!

Waiting.....patiently! (Sort of a Vent)
I've had my approval for a few weeks now so now it's just waiting for a date BUT I actually spoke to my surgeons office today and they told me I SHOULD have a date by next week, we shall see! I wish you the BEST of luck and keep me posted, hope everything goes well. Did you maybe think of appealing to your insurance?!?!

Being fired
I am going through something similar. I have a feeling once I give my surgery date and request to take off I will be fired. Someone mentioned FMLA, I know here in NY you must have at least 50 employees for this to be given. We have 49 and we were told last year that we are no longer covered under FMLA. My boss is a....well I can't really say it on here without being reported (lol) and since last year we've hired at least 1 more person but I think he found a loop hole in order for us NOT to be under FMLA. Another thing is my insurance only covers one fill and after that it will be $60 for each fill so you may want to check with your surgeons office to see how much they are, $60 isn't cheap but at least it wouldn't be once or twice a week. I wish you the best of luck and I'm sorry about you being fired!

Waiting.....patiently! (Sort of a Vent)
Hi all. I'm sorry if this gets long or if I sound like I'm rambling but I feel like you are the only group of people who will understand. I started my journey in September of 09 (Information Seminar) and as of right now I still do NOT have a band I don't even have a date!!! It seems that everything that can go wrong, has and I'm getting to the point of frustration!! When I first started going to all the doctors to get clearance letters I was also going to my PD and getting my weigh ins but one day I decided to call my insurance company and see if they were necessary, I found out they were not (I must of asked the girl 1200 times if she was sure) when my surgeons office sent everything to my insurance it turns out I did need 6 months of weigh ins so I had I had to start my weighs ins (pushed everything back 6 months) then in the mean time my original surgeon left the practice and they pulled in a new surgeon so I had to do my research on her and meet with her, fine...done. After all this some of my tests expired (because the dope at the insurance company doesn't know how to do her job) and I had to re do all of those. Finally as of today I am done with doctors, I have all my clearance letters and things should be moving along BUT they aren't. I called my surgeons office yesterday and they haven't called me back so I called back today and both people who would be able to help me are out of the office. I know in the end this is all going to be worth it and I'll forget about this whole ordeal but I feel like I should of been banded by now and it makes me really upset knowing I'm NOT. I want to get started on my road to a healthy life already....

My Journey with Lap Band
This is so weird, my surgeon told me that she doesn't want me drinking while eating.

Getting to know you...
Helllo all!! As of right now I am in the process of getting all my tests done. I've already done my consult with my surgeon and nutritionist, I'm waiting for an issue with my pysch eval to be solved and then they'll submit to insurance. My surgeon makes everyone do a million tests before the surgery. I have to get clearance from my lung doctor, clearance from the heart doctor, sleep study (which is tonight woohoo), breathing test (done), chest xray (done), blood work needs to be done, PCP clearance (done), I have to go to one support group, gastrologist, ab sono (done), vein sono and I think that's it (I'm sure I'm missing something). I'm hoping to have everything done and surgery scheduled for late April or early May. Little more about me, I am 26 my name is Liz and I live in Staten Island, NY. I'm single and not loving it :-( I'm really doing this to save my life, be healthy and just feel better about myself. I do have some goals but rather not share them yet, not until I have a surgery date and I know this is for real. Can't wait to hear from everyone else!!!!
