1. My main advice would be stay focused and keep your eye on the prize. The 6-month diet is annoying BUT it's worth it in the end. I was so excited on my last visit and skipped out of there with the paper in my hand. Good luck with everything!!
2. I agree with a lot of people here, I would maybe think about another surgeon. I went through a very frustrating year and a half process but finally it all came together. I too was told over and over again by my insurance company that I didn't need a 6 month diet history but when my surgeons office sent it in, guess what...I needed one so that set me back 6 months. Anyway, keep your head up and keep fighting. Wish the best for you!
3. You guys were right the meeting was all about what to expect when I wake up. They also gave this breathing thing to do 10 times an hour while in the hospital. We also got to visit the floor that we'll end up on afterward and we met with the Nurse managers.
4. Awesome! Guess this is what mine will be about. We shall see on Monday!
5.

Hi thanks for the well wishes! Yes it is very close but so is yours!! I had to do all sorts of testing as well, it wasn't easy but now it's almost time and I'm ready for it!!
6. Thank you so much for your response. I'm guessing that this might be what will be going on at the meeting.

8. Nope already did that on Tuesday.
9. Hey all. My surgery is set for Tuesday March 15th and on Monday the 14th I have to go to a Pre-Op meeting. Has anyone else have to do this?!!?
10. Yayyy!!! First step in the right direction :-)
11. Good luck!!! Let us know how it goes.
12. I have United Health Care and i was covered!
13. Honestly this is for YOU and no one else. I'm sure they might just be worried since it is major surgery or like someone said before if they also struggle with their weight it might be a hint of jealousy but this is for YOU and no one else. I've learned the hard way you can't please every one no matter how much you try. What I did for my friends and family is educate them as I was educating myself. I tell my parents everything my surgeon and her team tell me. Hope this helps! Good luck tomorrow!!!
14. I was scared to do the same thing but I did it truthfully and it helped because my nutritionist knew exactly what I needed to do to make sure I eat the right stuff after I'm banded.
15. I'm a crier as well. Last time I had surgery I cried while being wheeled into the operating room. I don't see it as anything to be stressed over, everyone's allowed to be scared, aren't they?!?! Regardless, good luck with everything!!
16. Hey Jen. We have the same surgery date! I've been doing the liquid diet since the 4th and though it was hard at first I think your body gets used to it. I'm on complete liquid (besides sugar free jello). Good luck!!
17. Mine is a full 14 days (even though I got permission to do 11 so I can have my surgery on the 15th) Medi-fast liquid diet. I have to drink 4 Medi fast shakes a day with skim milk (if I did it with Water I would of had to do 7 a day) plus 64 oz's of liquid on top of it. I'm allowed water, broth, sugar free kool aid, sugar free Jello, & sugar free popsciles (sp). Night before surgery I can't drink after midnight besides a small sip of water to take a pill. I had to stop my Vitamins and Calcium pills also.
18. Crossing my fingers for you!!! Good luck.
19. First off, congrats on your surgery date!!!! I know how excited I was to get mine and now since I'm 6 days away I am NERVOUS but ready for it. Do you have to do a liquid diet??! I only ask because since I've been on one I feel like I'm going to be prepared for the 2 weeks of liquids after surgery. Either way I'm sure you'll be fine! Good luck!!!
20. Good luck, hope it all works out but I'm sure it will!
21. It's nice to hear stories like this. Reassures us all that there are nice people out there! :-)
