Big questions from a Big Guy (dontcha hate bein called that?)
I probably wont be much help since I'm only a week banded but I just wanted to say that from what I've learned about it (research and all that) the band is what you make of it. Yes with bypass you would lose a lot quicker but I'm on with losing little by little (to my I feel like it's more healthy that way). Good luck with your journey!!!

lapband or bypas? I need help to decide,
For me bypass wasn't an option I've heard way too many bad things about it so I felt more safe with lap band. What made my choice final was that lap band is reversible. I think in the end it has to be your choice. Do your research, talk to people on here especially the ones who have had it for a while and then make your choice. Good luck with everything.

What happens next????
First thing I would do is call your insurance company and ask them all about it. I got a list from my surgeon of all the stuff I had to do. Maybe ask them if they have something like that?!?! Hope everything works out.

What are the typical tests?
I had to do stress test, EKG, blood work, psych. eval, 6 month diet history, breathing testing, 2 sleep studies, 2 support groups, PCP clearance, endo clearance venous duplex anddd I think that's it lol. Every insurance company is different. I was frustrated that it took me about a year and a half to get everything done but it makes you stronger and I'm glad I had to do it all because I knew so much more that I was ready for the surgery when I finally got a date.

I don't really know how to ask this question??
My doctor gave us a list of Q&A's and one of them was when can you resume sexual activity and the answer was 4 weeks. The doctor said you'll find a way so that it doesn't hurt if you put to much pressure on the port.

***NEW*** A lot of questions
Like everyone has been saying here it really depends on your insurance and your doctor. From start to end it took me about a year and a half with a lot of hiccups but as of Tuesday I am banded and it was worth it!!

Have to do a sleep study. Boo!
I took 2 PM's for both my studies. I didn't have the half and half. I had to do one night with just the wires then from there they decided what pressure my cpap should be and I had to go back and sleep with the machine on. It wasn't the best sleep ever but it wasn't the worst. It's like staying in a hotel room. Good luck with everything!! Let us know how it goes.

Tommorow- 1st step to beginning my new life
Have to agree with the above poster. Just make a list of questions. That's all I did at my last consulate, addressed some last minute things and she answered them without batting an eye (to her and her team no question is dumb). Good luck!!!

Can't believe some people that work for Doctors
I was going to say I've gotten ok's over the phone (the doctor agreed why should I come in when he can give me the OK by phone). Some doctor's receptionist's need a real attidue check. Sorry that she was so nasty, be sure to let the doctor know!

Thank you!! I'm a bundle of nerves right now!

Surgical consult
Thank you!!

Surgical consult
I refused to go with the bypass, I just couldn't see myself getting my insides rearranged and I've only heard bad things about people who have had a bypass. I feel more comfortable with something that can be taken out. I have a lot of weight to lose myself but I feel like with this tool I can do it. I'm being banded tomorrow so I'm sorry I can't answer your question completely. Good luck with everything!
