I got insurance approval yesterday!

Hello everyone!

I just got my approval to have surgery yesterday. This thursday I have my first appointment with the surgeon. What should I expect? Will he do blood work and so forth? I am kinda nervous because I have not quit smoking yet. I tried to do it cold turkey and failed. Did anyone get denied surgery for smoking?

My insurance requires me to take a tobacco test 90 prior to surgery and right before surgery. I don't know if all insurance make you do all that. Anyway, once I was approved, I had to take a 3 hour class to explain how the surgery work, Vitamins to take, and food phases. The doctor went over my health records and prior surgeries. And then, I got the BIG DATE....4/1/2011

I stopped smoking about 2 weeks before surgery but was never asked to take a test for it. I just decided that the band was more important that the cravings and it's worked so far!
