  1. My doc put me on puree or soft about 5 days post op, so I would call him/her because they might say its ok. As for motivation: you should check out the photo I just put in my gallery The beging is hard. I didn't feel "full" for a decent time untill i was at 5cc's. My last fill I think was at the end of june (7cc's) and I am still losing weight and only eating small amounts. Everyone is different, just hang in there, get to know how your band works with you and your body.

  3. I agree. I am so glad I had the surgery. I am now down to 215! The best part is, my menstrual cycle returned. I haven't had it since I was tweleve. I thought it would return when I got under 200! Wow it is a unexplainable feeling to have the knowledge I can now reproduce. It made me cry (of course it could have been the hormones too LOL)
  4. I haven't had a problem, but I would talk to your doctor too. I can't see how it would hurt the band cause its on the outside of the stomach.
  5. To be honest, i really didn't belive in food addiction before I was banded. I guess because my need was always satisfied. But now I find I am having "cravings" . It is really hard right now because I had to move back in with my folks for a short time. They always have my favorits around, like mac and cheese, cookies, pizza. The only thing that stops me from eating them is I know it will hurt if I do. I have this wierd feeling right now constantly of beign full and hungery at the same time.
  6. I recommened getting a blender. A lot of Soups you can put in a blender to smooth out the chunks. My favorite was mixing nacho cheese Soup, milk, beef consume and taco seasoning. But Taco's are my favorite food and I like spicey. There is also a good liquid recipie forum on here somewhere that I found very helpful.
  7. So I am finaly losing weight again. I was unably to make it to my doctor for a fill for almost 4 weeks. But I finaly did and I have lost 10lbs! I am still tight this week so I hope I do not have to go for another one for at least another two weeks. I am at 5 cc's right now. I am a size 20/22 right now, depending on the pants, and I hope to be an 18 by August. Do you think I will make it?
  8. every insurance is different. Mine for example didn't require 6 months of diet before hand. Definitly check with your insurance first or go to the seminar about the surgery and let the nurses help you. My nurses were very knowledgable about which insurances expect what and if they didn't know the can call them and do the communication for you.
  9. I still have a little pain too. Mostly it is just tenderness at the port site, but if I bend over and over again my whole side starts to hurt. My doctor didn't have any concerns when I saw him on thursday. I find the pain completely tolerable.
  10. I keep feeling a slight tightness in my esophagas so I am not ready to try noodles yet even though I am starving. I swear my stomach rumbled for a whole min yesterday. It also hurts to burp. I don't think i am getting the Protein I need though. I have been trying to drink my atkins drinks and milk with Protein powder as much as I can.
  11. Yes, u can have cream soups for liquid diet. they do have to be strained though to get the chunks out. But for the first two days they have to be Clear liquids, like apple juice. good luck on thursday!
  12. How about lifting 5 lbs weights. also I heard of a show called sit and be fit. I think it is for the elderly, but at least it will keep your range of motion up.
  13. I do not have a relationship right now. One of my goals is to not let my new weight decide who I date. It is going to be hard for me to stop thinking "is he only with me because I am thin now"? or "would he have dated me when i was large"? This is something I guess I will figure out in time.
  14. I just had the surgery, and I am hungery all the time. I get my first fill in a month, then i don't think i will be that hungery all the time. (i hope) I started on full liquids today and I'am not as hungery as i was on just Clear Liquids. My advice is to go look at the liquid stage recipies on here. there are a lot of recipies to help curve cravings and make you feel satisfied. Also I think the liquid requirment is also a training tool to try to teach us that we don't need to stuff our selfs silly. Although sometimes I think I will miss doing that.
  15. Today is a lot better. Yesterday i couldn't get out of bed or some chairs by myself. I have been staying at my mothers house. Today I can get out of bed and chairs, but slowly. The pain in my neck and shoulders have significatly reduced. Walking around didn't and doesn't bother me. Its the bending over that hurts. When going to the bathroom it was just the sitting down that hurt, everything else went fine.
  16. I agree, nobody understands. Everyone has there 2 cents. And I find my body to be personal and is no one elses buisness. I also have a friend who is getting the gastric bypass and she doesnt understand that it is too different surgerys. She keeps treating me like i don't kow anything, even before i got the surgery. Then she went and blabed to her friends and family that i was getting it. That is why I only told a few select people. And then my mom had to go and blab to the extended family. and she doesnt think she did anything wrong. So i have been avoiding phone calls from her side of the family and my friend. I don't need there opinons. The only opinons that matter are mine and my doctor. I think I will get over it eventualy but i will probable have to snap at a few people first.
  17. Congrats! hope your surgery goes well
  18. my diet goes: Clear liquids (apple juice, water) for 2 days, full liquid (cream strained soups) for 2 weeks, puree (baby food) for 2-3 weeks, soft (scrambled eggs) for 2-4 weeks, and then regular diet. I was banded yesterday so i have not experinced the "stuck" yet. But as I understand it, it is when a piece of food gets stuck on the way down to stomach. Then you have to "productive burp" to get the food up. I have a lot of pain at the port site. It is hard to sit, stand, and lay down. the gave me liquid lortab for the pain, it takes the edge off but still lots of pain. I heard this pain only lasts for 3-4 days. Good luck with your surgery!
  19. surgery done yesterday. had some anxiety before surgery, but my mom came with me and kept me from bolting out of there lol. Port site has alot of pain. Its hard to sit, stand, and lay down. takeing in 4 oz of Clear liquids every hour. Nausiated once, but no other problems right now. The nurses gave me an ice pack and i have been using it alot. I don't think the cold is helping but the pressure of holding it there is what is helping in my opinion.
  20. My docotor said that i should be on 2 weeks liquid, 2-3 weeks puree, 2-4 weeks soft food.
  21. Congratulations. I just got my surgery date yesterday. April 7th. Good luck on yours.
  22. Hello The protein shakes I like the most are the atkins shakes. I have tried the milk, dark chocolate and the carmel cafe. I have bought some strawberry and will be trying that soon. I also suggest finding a protein powder to add to milk to help get in all the protein you need. GNC has a lot of different powders that are high in protein (a little expensive though) I am not banded yet (next week) but I have been experementing with stuff since March 9th. I started the liquied diet for lent. I also had mad cravings in the beginning. I found that mixing different soups and things together helped with that. Like for my taco cravings I added, nacho cheese soup, beef consumme, and taco seasoning. There is also a forum in the post op sections i think with liquied diet recipies.
  23. Hello everyone! I just got my approval to have surgery yesterday. This thursday I have my first appointment with the surgeon. What should I expect? Will he do blood work and so forth? I am kinda nervous because I have not quit smoking yet. I tried to do it cold turkey and failed. Did anyone get denied surgery for smoking?
  24. I have just started the liquid diet for post surgery ( i do not have a date yet but i'm also doing it for lent ). I have had Taco cravings like non other, so i made this to help Fiesta nacho cheese Soup, beef consume, skim milk, taco seasoning. I mixed in blender to taste and warmed in microwave. It realy helped curve my craving. It is spicy though. but so gooooood.
  25. i don't know if they have an instant message thing, but i think we can send private emails
