  1. I actually gained a few pounds in the last week since being banded. I think its from all the liquids they put in the IV. I also think that our bodies are in shock right now and don't really know what to do. I think the weight loss will start in a few weeks. Good luck.

I was banded 1 week ago and think Janet covered it all. My husband stayed home with me for a few days and I loved the TLC. Chap Stick was also a help. Good luck on your journey - you'll do great!

Oh thank you all so much for your well wishes and words of wisdom. Without all your posts I wouldn't have made this life changing decision. Thanks to all you guys.

All done. I was banded on Monday and am just beginning to feel good enough to post. Thank God for my unbeleiveable husband who has been taking really good care of me. Thanks to all who wished me well. I'll post again soon.

Congrats!!! Good luck to you. My surgery is next Monday.
  8. Yes, good luck to you. I am going to be banded on Monday. I think you made a wize choice. I think no matter what road you choose the hard work is really in your hands. The best of luck to you!!!
  9. Sylvia, Welcome back and thanks for sharing. I am also a food addict and am hoping that I will be able to keep my addiction in mind while using the band as a tool. We will soon see as I am going to be banded next Monday. Thank you for sharing and perhaps we could get on track to healthy eating with the band together. I wish you luck - wish me luck too!!!!
  10. You and your words are so inspirational that I am going to print this and have it to refer to when I need words of encouragement. Thank you so much from a soon to be banded sister.
  11. Andrea that is awesome. I am getting banded on Monday and wonder. Will I be able to eat every day foods just in smaller portions? Is that what you are doing because your loss is excellent and I thought that is how the band is supposed to work - you eat what you did before but you get fuller quicker because of the restriction. Please advise me as I am confused.
  12. Your story sounds so much like mine, except that I'm 20 years older than you. I am so happy that you are making this decision while your young and wish you the best of luck on your journey.
  13. You are doing Great!!!!! Congratulations I know your gonna kick some butt.
  14. I love my sil s and bil s as well. In fact I like them so much that I have excused myself from all family functions on "that side". I refuse to be around people who belittle me or make me feel unwelcome and if they are related to my husband it includes them. I am so sorry you had to endure this crap. Keep your chin up you are so much better than them. Even when your ass is small people like that will find something else to comment on, even if they have to make it up. Keep up the good work and think positive thoughts.
  15. Hello to all, My date is April 26th and am so glad to be joining all of you. Good luck to all the April bandsters.

  17. I am going to be banded on April 26 by Dr Alan Geiss 221 Jericho Turnpike Syosset, NY 11791. He has a meeting for people interested in being banded. You could attend and meet him and his staff. I actually gained a few pounds to make the insurance companys requirements. Good luck to you.

Sounds like your doing great! I would definately not feel bad about needing further restriction - like you said thats why you got the band in the first place. Keep up the good work!

Hello there thinatheart (love that name). I'm sorry to hear about your cancer and hope all is going well with your treatments. I am not yet banded (have a band date of 4/26). Good luck on your journey and welcome to this site. I don't blog much but do gain so much knowledge here by reading every day. Good luck on your journey.
  20. Dee, Thanks so much and congratulations to you too. I am sorry about your losses as well. Australia, how cool. I will check to see if your around, I am on at all different times. Good luck to you. Barbara
  21. You really should consider a wound care doctor. My dad had an incision that wouldn't heal and got the same bs from his doctor. He then went to a wound care specialist and it healed in no time. If your in Long Island I can give you that doctors name if you like. Good luck and hope you heal well soon.
  22. Well I was given my surgery date and it is - drum roll please - April 26th. I have had a difficult month with a tragic death in my family and today my first easter without my mom who passed the end of September. I am trying to take each day as it comes. So many things in my life are so good, yet its hard to overlook the really crappy things, and I mean really crappy things that happened in the last year. I makes me wonder whats next. I am, on the other hand, positive with my outlook on my upcoming surgery. My husband is less than thrilled, he's just worried about me making it through surgery because the woman he was with before me died on the operating table. I am waiting to have the thought that I don't need the surgery and can do it on my own, but that hasn't hit me yet. Perhaps I have actually accepted the fact that I could use the help of the band. Please cross your fingers for me. Thanks.
