  1. Happy New year and new you to all of us!
  2. Wow! Which story is yours? I am Karen from Florida(I think). I could tell you better, but I gave the book to my surgeon's office fro a gift to share!
  3. Best wishes on your new you in the New Year! everyone else said what I would say, just know that you haev a "friend" here on this forum, I just got into my head "where never is heard a discouraging word and skies are not cloudy all day"
  4. Karen I am with you on the Maryland crab cakes. My fathers family was from Cambridge and my Aunt used to make the best crab cakes. I remember her sitting at the table with a bushel of crabs and clean and pick them all. Then there was heaven when she got done. I am a crab cake snob! I have tried Florida crab cakes, they claim are "Maryland" crab cakes, no way!!
  5. I'm a newbie too! I've had the surgeon consult, dietitian visit, and psych eval. All paperwork was submitted to insurance on 12/19/13 so I'm waiting for response to see if it will be covered. I started a low calorie diet 1 week ago and I've lost 7 lbs! The founder of this site published a book that I highly recommend. It's called The Big Book on the Lapband. Has lots of info on all stages of the process. Good luck to you. I'm happy to be 1 of your buddies as so far I've been mostly reading posts. It will be nice to share our journeys. I am in "The Big Book on the Lapband".
  6. I think that it sounds like the better part of valor for you to stay away today sicne surgery was only 10 days ago. Maybe the next time will be your time to shine! Cheer on your team from home this year. best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724
  7. You sound pretty green to me! If you wanted a slight tweak next month to try, it might be okay. I am at 5 cc, in my 10 cc band, 5.3 was too much for me. But, I did have to try a tweak to see, and then had to have it taken back out. SO, I am one who wouldhave to say, if you want to try a little bit, it would be up to you. But you sound pretty green to me! Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year. Karen..aka..kll724
  8. NO, but reached goal 2 years ago. I just enjoyed buying cute clothes from a "regular: store and my husband ws a clothes pusher. Glad because previously he was a food pusher! Congrats on the cute outfit! Karen..aka..kll724
  9. I eat a lot of fish! Never used to but like it now more than ever. I don't eat other seafood, as I am form Maryland, and living in Florida, and spoiled for Maryland crab cakes. Other seafood is too hard for me to digest or chewup! I eat very little red meat, but do eat some poultry too. Had turkey for both Thanksgiving or Christmas. I don't like breasts to much as they are too dry, so if it is not a special occasion, I usually stay away from it too. Basically, I am a boring eater, now! I tend to do only certain veggies such as broccoli crowns, cauliflower crowns, asparagus crowns, baked Beans, or peas. I like nuts but don't eat too many as I do LIKE them too much! I eat very little carbs, because tend to fill up on my Protein. I hope that helps! As I said, I am a boring eater, now! Karen...aka..kll724
  10. Hi juliareva, welcome to our site! 54 pounds in 6 months is really great! Are you in the "green zone" yet? We are a pretty friendly group, and usually pretty talkative on most lapabnd subjects. Jump in to conversations, and join wherever you like! Karen..aka..kll724
  11. Most surgeons won't allow swimming, even in your own personal pool until your wounds are completely healed. I was going to the gym much earlier than swimming in my pool. If you are using a pool at the gum, or the Y, you might have to wait even longer as they are full of other peoples germs, even if cleaned everyday! Sorry to burst you balloon, you will probably have to use other exercise for awhile, but as always, check with your own surgeon!!Karen..aka..kll724 PS: I was going to refer you to the pregnant after lapband forum!!!
  12. Ricksgal, you have come to the right place to get remotivated! There are newbies and oldsters on this site. Are you exercising, and watching your carb intake? Most of us, when we are filled properly, can't eat many carbs, and are filed and satisfied with our 4 oz of Protein and veggies. If you have not visited your sugeon's foccie recently for a fill and discussion with the nutritionist, do so. Happy New year and new start, this is the starting point! Karen..aka..kll724 >>>>please fill in your profile, too!!
  13. Congrats and Happy New year, no diet to you! Karen..aka.kll724

I would hate to try diagnose you, but see your surgeon. It could be reflux, or you might be having a gall bladder attack. Best wishes, if you are having this often, it might not be something to foo around with!! Karen..aka...kll724
  15. God be with you both at the passing of your loved ones! Congrats to you both for not giving into the temptation to eat thru your emotions. tbutler, you have done an amazing job! Congrats on breaking into onderland! Best wishes to you both for happy and healthy New Year! Karen...aka..kll724
  16. It sounds to me like you need an underwire with pushup! I can't use that myself, I am all skin and fall out! I tried wearing what the woman at Victoria Secrets measured me at, and I don't like the look at all, I was all squished up.( I went 1 size up after being measured for 34, I went to 36), I have since gone back to a full figure bra as these old girls fit better with more material around them! I feel much better and they don't fall out! Can't recommend those "ahhh bars"" they appear to be sport bras and are not for everyone as they say they are. But, you do need to go to someplace like VC to be measured properly! Best wishes, and happy hunting! Karen..aka..kll724
  17. Welcome, Mistyraine! As B-52 said, new people are always joining and always welcome. Even tho' we are hosts, doesn't make us experts. We will often say "check with your surgeon's office". We can provide advice, but we are not doctors and can't, or shouldn't, give medical advice! We can and will cheer you on, and might tell you that you need to stop doing something that we know is not helpful to your weightloss. But, usually, this advice is giving in a friendly and helpful way. Once again, welcome aboard. Jump in and join the discussions! Karen...aka.kll724
  18. Lol! Terry, hope not! But I agree, Kohl's or another dept store is good to start!
  19. Hurray, melt away!Happy New Year, and new you! Karen..aka.kll724
  20. Oh yeah catfish, that is greatest!
  21. Hey, I think that we all need to jump back on the band wagon.Yesterday, I had Christmas burn-out! I stayed in my pj's all day and did nothing! I was too exhausted to come on here, to read my Kindle book or do anything productive, even a walk was too much!Today, is another day! (or as Scarlett O'hara said, "tomorrow is another day!") Dust yourself off, you will have many setbacks! Best wishes to us veterans!! Karen..aka.kll724
  22. Prettythick, you look wonderful! I'll bet it was a pleasure taking those Christmas pictures! Happy New year! Karen..aka.kll724
  23. Hey, Tony, it is not your doctors call. It is yours, you need a slight unfill, ASAP! Call today and get your self into the office today! To tight and pb'ing can cause a slip! Best wishes....Karen..aka.kll724
  24. moneymo and Sallypearl, I hope that the two of you can hookup! Best wishes to you both! Karen...aka.kll724
  25. My port has flipped, a little. My surgeon said he can still access the port, however. I do not have any pain. He said that the port might have turned when I had lost enough weight to make it too big and I might need a smaller port. So far, I have not needed further surgery, but I don't get fills anymore, either since then. Perhaps you do as Dawalsh did. Best wishes to you. Karen..aka.kll724
