  1. Absolutely! Well said! I wish that I never had to have lapband! I wish that I was the normal weight without lapband! I am not, and was not! Thanks, lapabnd, and welcome to the forum all newbies, oldbies and everyone else! Best wishes for a Happy New year for us all! Karen..aka.kll724
  2. karen, i am going no where.......let me make that clear......i (need) this forum for friendship and something to hold myself accountable i cant talk the talk without me walking.......albeit in 6 inch heels Really? 6 inch heels? I can only manage 2 inches, then I think I wish I was younger and braver! HAHA!
  3. Best wishes, sorry that you have that problem. I know, many surgeon's offices take credit cards. Good advice above! Karen..aka.kll724 I had my surgery on Oct 30, 2009!
  4. Yahoo! Great NSV! Bawl your eyes out! And great to have a supporting hubby! Mine was too while I was actively losing! Bets wishes for many more in the New Year! Karen..aka.kll724
  5. Yoohoo! The healing will come! Best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724
  6. Well, I have had a slip! Usually they are caused by being too tight and foods getting stuck, so that you have to have many episodes of pb'ing, which causes swelling! You might not know you have a slip, but you would know that something is not right! Best wishes, and welcome to our site! Karen..aka.kll724
  7. I, too, found that eating too late cause my acid reflux. But, your stuck episode sounds like it started your swelling. How soon after the fill did you try eating? and what did you try to eat? I, and many others, can't do sandwiches with bread. Also, beef seems to be a bugger for many of us, too! Try a day or so of liquids, and see if that helps, if not call your surgeon tomorrow! Best wishes, Karen.aka..kll724
  8. Well, it is not a Christmas movie, but I watched the stage production, with Carrie Underwood, of "Sound of Music" last night. I am a musical lover, it was great. I am sorry to all the people who can't appreciate a new production of an old Broadway show! As far as Chrismas movies, I like the old, black and white, Christmas Carol! Karen..aka.kll724
  9. I went cold turkey on New Years eve 23:40 (military time) 1984. It was the best thing, my husband joined me! I don't know how hard it will be to quit during your pre-op, or post-op. But the sooner you quit, the better for your health, healing, etc... Plus many hospitals don't allow smoking on their grounds. Best wishes. Good luck in the upcoming New Year! Karen..aka..kll724
  10. I think Special K makes a Protein that you can add to Water. You just need to work on sipping. Try some beef or chicken broth, too! don't guzzle anything, it is hard to do 8 oz at a time! Best wishes. Karen..aka.kll724
  11. Funny thing is I have done that to her. I told her I would give her some of my old scrubs and then this last time I visited her she asked if I brought the scrubs that were too tight on me...and I said no! I'm giving you my ones that are too big. and she said oh that's right. haha. Guess what shes getting this Christmas...all my oversized scrubs that I can't wear anymore...shes wanted them for months now. familys can be crazy!! Good for you! You sound like you, mom and dad all handle gramma just right! Give her your scrubs!!!Serves her right!Merry Christmas! Karen..aka.kll724

  14. Best wishes! I hope that you feel better and that your surgery goes smoothly! Karen..aka.kll724
  15. Check with the surgeon's office, they probably have an on-call person. They can advice you most! I hpe that you feel better. Make sure that you drink liquids so that you don't dehydrate! Karen..aka.kll724
  16. msirish, good goals! Best wishes on your list! Karen..aka.kll724
  17. I agree with both you, cg and cheryl! But I am glad to host, at least I feel with "host" they think our opinions matter, a little! Haha! We are all just learners in a world where there are few experts! Well ladies, stay or go, I love reading you both! You too B-52, & catfish!Karen..aka..kll724
  18. I can understand you, there, Cheryl, people have beat you up, a lot! Well come visit and I, at least, welcome your knowledge. Karen..aka.kll724
  19. I had a lot of liquid out days. You know, liquids in, liquids out. That might be causing some of your stomach pain. Best wishes, I hope that you feel better. It is worth it! Karen...aka.kll724
  20. Best wishes, how are you now? It takes awhile for the gas to leave. As your nurse said, try Gas-x. Walking and heating pads helped the most for me! Mine got so bad that I even took some Tylenol to help the pain! Karen..aka..kll724
  21. Well, I look forward to your wisdom, cg and yours, B-52. I, too, have thought about moving on. I miss a lot of the people that were her when I 1st came 4 years ago. I miss the ladies and gents who seem to have left when the new format came about. But, I think Alex wisely set up the Host format so that I and many others like me can go and try to say something to newbies or answer topics without and answers. Good for Alex and all us the oldsters!!Merry Christmas and happy New Year to everyone!!! Karen..aka..kll724
  22. Congrats! And yes, walking is the best thing for your. Maybe sit in a lounge type chair, and relax! Take pain meds as needed, but don't over do! When drinking, remember to only sip, this is the healing time, so don't overdo anything! Best wishes, Merry Christmas, happy New Year. Enjoy your new life! Karen...aka..kll724
  23. My incisions are like yours. and the large one is where your port is. It is, usually, the one that takes the longest to heal..Best wishes.Karen..aka.kll724
  24. I took comfortable slip on shoes, and slippers, too! My hospital gave us robes because it was some kind of specail thing going on. If I were you, i would bring a robe for walking around the hospital, since you want to walk as much as you can. I would bring/wear stretch waist pants, like sweats, and a big comfortable shirt. You probably won't feel like wearing most bras, so a sports bra, too! Best wishes on your hospital time! Karen..aka.kll724
  25. Congrats! The new year will bring amazing things for you! Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! Karen..aka..kll724
