Too Fast?
Woohoo! No, usually the only people that get their operation this quick are self pay. Good for you, and good luck. If I could ever talk my husband into the surgery, he would have to be a quick acceptance, too, as he would be to impatient to have to do a 6 month diet.

Eating after banding
Until you are used to taking little bites, try using a baby/toddler spoon and fork. Also, using a dessert or salad plate will make you more used to the size portions you should be eating. Good luck. (PS: I. also, am not the best chewer, it takes practice.)Karen

Poll: What was your longeest "episode"?
The last time I had a fill. Went in for a fill on Wed. I started being sick around Thurs., by Friday I called the surgeon's office. Someone advised me to hold out, maybe it would be better. Could barely get out of bed over weekend, but waited until Monday morning, called and they said come in. Surgeon said you could have called over weekend, we would have seen you! I had 1/2 cc removed, and was better right away. Don't wait, if you need help! I did and it was very bad. Good luck. Karen

When can you have salad?
i don't eat it! My daughter, who also has lapband, has no problem. I find the lettuce is hard to chew up; try baby spinach, also, tomato skins are bad. I am not telling you to not try, but be aware! You should not eat salad on mushy diet, tho'. Karen

HELP!! Need advice about eating out!
I had stuffed tilapia the other day. It was wonderful, very soft and easy to digest. I, also, love to get baked sweet potato. Otherwise, I would stick to a cream soup.

CO2 gas
The pain will go away, shortly. My son, also, had surgery on Aug.5. I know that he was uncomfortable yesterday. He bought Gas-X strips. And, he said it made a worlds of difference. He has been walking alot, too. He sometimes asked to be patted in the center of his back to relief the gas. Good luck.

HAPPY I had a 2wk preop liquid diet
I am so proud of my son. He was banded on August 5. He has lost 18 lbs since starting his pre-op diet. He has celiac and his wife is a skinny as a rail. Both are not good for loosing weight. She eats like a horse and when he started his liquid diet, she lost 10 lbs, too. But, anyway, he is sticking to his diet and seems to be real happy! I know that he has me to look up to, as I lost 100 lbs. Our surgeon is the same person. He is young enough that the weight seems to fall off pretty quickly. But, anyway, wanted to say how proud I am of him!

Trying to figure out if I'm too tight
As far as breakfast goes, my surgeon has been banded for over 5 years and still can't do breakfast! I generally do a fruit smoothie for breakfast, myself. I can't do any other fruit, so I get my fruit in smoothie form. I couldn't do shrimp the 1st time I tried it. I can do it if I am real cautious and aware of what I am doing! I am good with crab; it is one of my staple along with fish. I do think that you are too tight if you pb that often. Good luck, everyone is different. I think I would die with 6 1/2 cc's. I have only 3cc's. Karen

Can you tell me what size you wear??
I agree with Spoiltmom. But, you really need to try on before ordering anything. Sizes are so different, depending on where you buy. I think that I was in woman's sizes and 1x for quite awhile.

Lichen

Fiber
Fiber doesn't keep me full longer, but certainly help with "potty" issues. I use it most days; you can add it to drinks, smoothies, or cereal. It works pretty quickly on me,now! Karen

joke: how do you know your losing
Yes, that was a great NSV. I still use shower sheets, but love that when I go to a hotel or wherever, I can wrap the towel around myself when I get out. Especially when getting out of the pool. I like that the towels wrap around me. Hurray for weight loss! Karen

NSV
Yay! to all! My best NSV, was when I was bowling last Sunday. We were discussing the next week, and I said well Sunday is my birthday, so not sure if we will come. Then I went to bowl. The lady on the other team asked my son how old I was going to be, he said 63. She said "wow! She doesn't look a day over 50." He told me this later on. Man, I was like do I feel great or what. Karen

went for 3rd fill yesterday
I am, also, told to do clear liquids for 48 hours and full liquids for 48 hours. I, usually, make it to Saturday night after a fill on Wednesdays. Don't rush the use of food after a fill. Good luck.Karen

Have my lap band surgery date - October 24th
Welcome to the "60's" site. I was 61 when I had my surgery, nearly two years ago. I beat my 38 year old daughter in the weight loss column. I have lost 100lbs in 1 year and am maintaining now. I love shopping for clothe sin the misses and sometimes junior depts. I hope to NEVER go back to the woman's dept. I bought a new swim suit yesterday, and it was a 1 peace that fit perfectly. I picked a size 10 and love the way I look in it. (of course, still have to tighten my thighs!). Good luck and wecome to a new life! Karen

Still losing very quickly - no fill?
It sounds to me that you will probably not need a fill when you visit the surgeon's office in August, lucky you! You are doing great, and you have a wonderful attitude. I am glad to read that you are tackling your "head hunger". I have been on this journey for 20 months, am at goal and still have trouble with head hunger! Good luck, you are going strong, and should make your weight goal in no time! Karen

return doctors visits
I think as needed is the clue. I am still going every month, too. I am 20 months out, but still having trouble with fill/unfill for my maintenance. It was suggested by my surgeon that I could start every 2 months, (once my weight levels off!). Once you are in maintenance, you have to decide what you need. Good luck. Karen

Gluten Free Bandsters?
Yes, he heard the same things. "No, you can't be celiac, because you wouldn't be fat". Well, he has been gluten free for 7 years, and he is at least 100 lbs overweight. But, as the surgeon said, to not say celiac, because it would exclude him from te surgery. So, he is intolerant of wheat and gluten! He knows, immediately, when he has a wheat product.

Gluten Free Bandsters?
Not me, but my son. He is getting banded on August 5. His surgeon(and mine,) was afraid that Aetna would turn him down if they said he had celiac. So, it was said he has gluten sensitivity. He would probably be interested in this information, too!
