  1. I personally will never go to the local hospital here as that is not the one my surgeon has the authorization to work out of. Unless, I am dying, I will make my husbad drive the 1 hour to the hospital that he covers. I have heard him tell other patients to get themselves to another hospital. Usaually, emrgencies do not come on that quickly with our lapbands. I am not saying that our friend who passed did anything wrong waiting but I have had an emergency that came on slowly and I ignored, Luckily, the surgeon was able to take care of my problem without complications. Karen
  2. YES!! Also, better looking people are treated differently. They have done a lot of studies to prove this. And, if you look around in the business world, you will notice there are not a lot of short, heavy people in the forefront. We are considered the worker bees to be in the background and do the heavy work. I am glad to have come out of the background after loosing 100 lbs. Part of the reason I started this journey was because I didn't want to be known as the "fat Lady" at church. I was anonymous and a lot of people don't recognize that I was the "lady". Karen
  3. Awesome NSV! Way to lose! Karen
  4. I vote "no", too! I think that it would be too strenous on you. You will still be in recovery mode. A lot of people fly from Mexico to their homes a few days after surgery. But, you will be driving, alone, with kids. Hmmmm! Think about it! Karen
  5. Listen to Cazzy, she lost 237 lbs. She has done, if she can do it, you can too! You are the only one that can make a decision to loose your weight. Best wishes, and stay around, this site is very helpful! Karen
  6. I was walking all the time. But, couldn't do any weight lifting or bending type exercise for 6 weeks. You can probably work on the bikes, but not overdo as most people want to. Take things slowly,as you are healing. Call your surgoen's ofc for best advise!!!Karen
  7. Thumbs up to attitude change. Best wishes for your future endevours. Karen
  8. Congrats, hope to hear that you are still doing great! Karen
  9. Welcome, Tiffanie! You ar so right, I depend on this group for support. My center has its meetings at night, 1 hour away from me. I have never made the trip. I have 2 adult children who have lapbands, too. I have thier support and my husbands. I can call on surgeon's ofc whenever I need them. Good luck, and stay in touch. Karen
  10. Yes, that is a wise lesson to learn. My own journey has been one of sometimes eating 1 last bite, and then being real uncomfortable, or gagging. I am in the green zone, mostly. But I still have times of overeating or not eating the right stuff. I have had my lapbnd for 2 1/2 years, you would think I would hav elearned by now! Good lcuk to everyone just joining this adventure. Karen
  11. I did not have hair loss from lapband. I have read on here that several people have. My own daughter did have the problem. I think that it is related to rapid weightloss. You could search under hair loss on the search, I am sure that you will get a list. But, sounds liek you are on the right track. Good luck, Karen
  12. Glad to hear, keep us informed of your health. Goodluck. Karen
  13. Yeah for eating very little and caring very little about food. We all need to learn to eat to live, not live to eat! Karen
  14. I agree with Tammy. Best wishes for a great weightloss with no (or few) complications. Karen
  15. Rest in Peace, Shirly. My condolences to your family, and friends. I, also, enjoyed her posts. Karen
  16. My happy weight s 140-145. I am flucuating because to me, at least, maintenance is hard! I am trying to stay at my happy weight where my clothes fit great and I feel best. Karen
  17. Congrats on your success!! You probably do appear taller since you lost all that weight. You are lucky that you can control your purchases. I love buying clothes at my favorite store. They keep sending me coupons and I feel I need to support their effort!! My closets are bursting, as I am at goal and now wearing things a lot longer than before. Good thing I have an understanding husband, My own grandson, says to not loose all my fluff, as he wants ot be able to cuddle it!! Karen
  18. Jean, this made me LOL. You are very knowlegeable and we are lucky to have you here. Congratulations on your success, both weightloss and publishing. Karen
  19. Good advice, and great attitude! Karen
  20. You sound like you are doing great, and don't feel rushed to get your 1st fil.. You and your surgeon will know whenit is time. As long as you are consistently loosing and are not hungry between meals, you sound like you are okay. Goodluck, Karen
  21. . Yes, at times, I do miss eating like that. But only for a minute. Than I go, "oh, gross". I don't want to ever eat like that again. It is too much food, for anyone. ( excpet my very skinny daughter-in-law who eats like a cow, and never gains weight.) She actually finishes my meals, and her husband's meal(I was banded 2 year ago, he was banded in aug 2011). anyway, I don't know why the commercials show all these people eating all that food. Yuck!!! even in my fatest times, it was way too much. you will get used to that, and eat a little. I don't go to Outback, anymore. I do miss the blooming onion, becasue I love onion rings. I will make my d-i-l order them from Burger King and have 1. Goodluck to all. karen
  22. i would think you will be okay, but my surgeon recommended clear liquids at yoru stage. You are only less than a week out. what did your surgeon's office recommend? Yes, the liquid is probably too thick. also, I was only able to get, maybe, a 1/2 ounce down at a time, due to swelling.Take it easy, and good luck.Karen
  23. I wen through this, people will get usd to the smaller you! Loose what you feel comfortable with. I like a 140 me, my surgeon suggested a 150 me. Maintenance brought me to somewher in between. Best wishes. Karen
  24. PB=productive burping! Simular to vomiting but not from the stomach and no nasty stomach juices after taste. Karen
