  1. I over ate for the first time tonight. Ugh, I feel miserable. I stopped at a diner and ordered a bowl of chili and I was sitting eating and reading a book. I was trying to finish the book before I went home (because I had stuff to do and didnt know when I would get back to it). The waiter without asking and without my noticing picked up my empty bowl and sat a new one at my table. I ate two bowls of chili and am really feeling it now. When I was checking out I told the waiter that it wasnt sitting well on my stomach and he said he probably shoudnt have brought me that second bowl. I was was like . Dammit!!!! I gotta be more mindful.
  2. You do realize that by telling people their opinions are invalid because they dont have MD behind their names, it pretty much invalidates your own argument, right?
  3. If it were me, I would live with it for at least a week and see if it doesnt change enough on its own. If after that I still couldnt stand it, I would try a temp shade over it. BUT....I have really long hair and keeping my length is my priority. And I have lots of gray and still use ash tones. I dont mind the woodsy green brown. My eyes are a strange combo of green, gold and brown. If I use any color with gold or warm tones, it brings out the old and they look kinda pea greenish (not at all flattering). Ash brings out the green, much better for me.
  4. I saved up my paid vacation to use for post surgery leave. I have short term and long term disability but it honestly never occurred to me to use STD. I am so use to covering my sick leave with vacation, sad isnt it?
  5. I dont have a restraunt card, I have a medical ID card. It has information at by band and my surgeon. At the very bottom it says "Note to restraunts: Please allow this person to order smaller portions, as the amount of food this persona can eat has been greatly reduced". The package I got from the doctor on surgery day had a punch-out temp card I used to go onto the Lap Band manufacturers site and register, and then they sent the permanent one. While mine does have the restraunt note on it, it is basically a medical alert card so in case of accident or emergency, they know I have a lapband, its size and my surgeon.
  6. I too felt/feel like I was talking into a canyon and gettin nuttin back but an echo. This site is very clicky, imho.
  7. I dont like the artifical sweeteners either. Like someone else posted, agave nectar is nice. I also use Stevia. I had to get use to the taste of it though. And if I absolutely have to have some sweets, sometimes I do go on and eat the regular sugar sweetened stuff. I just do so carefully and limit them. I have real adverse reactions to the chlorinated sugar sweetener (cant recall its brand name right now). So I have been avoiding the artificial sweeteners for several years now. Well before I was banded.
  8. I had (and sometimes still do) that problem too. My hunger was not all in my head, it was physically hard to take. My stomach grumbled and rolled and made it so hard for me. It has gotten better, but I have to watch my carbs. I can drink a 1/4 cup of low cal cranberry juice and be in trouble. The best advice I can give is to journal your food. Keep track of what you are eating before you get so hungry. Try to eat things that wont send your blood sugar out of control. It is the only thing that works for me. Instead of eatting 1/2 an apple, I will eat 1/4 an apple with a slice of cheddar cheese. Or 1/2 a pear with a little cottage cheese. Or a couple grapes with a wedge of laughing cow.
  9. Welcome back. I am too new to have known your previous posts. But now you have that song by Biggie stuck in my head.
  10. OK, is something going on with my post? I linked to a image of the charges and now the pic is missing? Am I missing something? Why would someone alter my post and not say something to me?
  11. Oh, bless your bank accounts heart! LOL I wish you the best. Keep us posted.
  12. Baked eggs are my favs. There are literally hundreds of different ways to make them. I prefer the veggies to the meat adds.. Sassy Spinach Baked Eggs http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4553/spinach-baked-eggs-with-parmesan-and-tomato-toasts
  13. I was told vomiting is one of the worst things you can do with a band. But I am afraid to post it because as soon as I do one of the more "forceful" opinions on the board will be by to remind me I know nothing.
  14. I think having your spouse banded would be nice because like the previous poster wrote, eating the same is less work for you. But it sounds like there are issues that really dont have to do with the band. I wont go into it as you know what is going on and like you said, you are a nurturer. My situation is different and I hope you can get some value from it. My baby lost a lot of weight but did it himself without surgery. He now owns his own fitness studio and trains people. He has been sweet so far, but I can tell he really doesnt understand my decision. Having two people doing things differently is harder. We have to work much harder at keeping the communication going between us.
  15. Pills can never take the place of fresh veggies. You may be able to get your basic vitamins in a pill, but they will never have all the additional nutrients that are also present in vegetables.
  16. Your band needs time to form scar tissue around it to help secure it from slippage. You have went thru a very drastic step in order to loose weight, dont cheat yourself and risk complications now.
  17. You have everything in your favor. I bet you will look fabulous. And I wish I would have done something when I only had 70 to loose. One thing I have always done is I put oil on my skin after I step out of the shower before I dry off. Then I follow it up with lotion on other parts like my tummy.
  18. I have also known guys at work whos insurance was dropped because they ran out of paid leave options. Once you are no longer drawing a pay check, you no longer have insurance. The time it takes for someone to go from one form of insurance to a different in times like these can be fatal. The whole idea that the only people who are uninsured are those who are too lazy to work come from elitist. I come from poor people, I know dozens who have been horribly affected by insurance, lack of or switching.
  19. eggs have always been one of my fav dishes. And I agree, fresh laid free range eggs are soooo much better than the sickly, mass produced stuff you get at the market.
  20. I am a huge veggie eater and have considered juicing. But I just cant take fruit juice. It spikes my blood sugar and sends my hunger into overdrive.
  21. Here is the latest I saw. It isnt the total bill and it is for surgery only. Now I am not paying for fills or visits, no idea how it all works (as far as paying). I wont know more until after the holidays when I can call and find out what everything is.
  22. The fact that the surgery IS reversable and the band removable is a huge plus factor for me. I would never agree to bariatric surgery that you couldnt reverse later. There are so many things that could go wrong later on and having my insides intact are important to me.
  23. I weight daily, after I get up and use the bathroom. I find weighing at the same time is more accurate.
  24. There are also books on weight loss surgery that explain a lot about diet. If you dont want to outlay the money, you can always hit up your library. I know mine also has a online ebook site where you can read them with a free software download.
  25. I looked at my medical claims online and my surgery was over $200,000 total. The latest round of charges were over $120,000. OMG. Two huge charges for "hospital incidentals" were $50,000 and $28,000. The lifetime cap on my insurance is $2million. So, 1/10 of my lifetime coverage went to pay for this surgery. I am stunned. I wouldnt have done it had I known.
