  1. Dawnie, Please fess up to your doctor for their opinion. My opinon is you should stick to the program to let you body heal the best from the surgery. Just my opinion. edie
  2. Nancy, Your post has too much to answer. Make some posts with specific questions. Just a general comment from me. With the band you get full but you want to eat more. It takes a while to get your brain wrapped around this concept. I am very happy and my issue with food is getting better each day. edie
  3. Hey Mal, This is the beauty of the band. You are full. You can't eat a bag of chips. You GET full. Have faith, edie
  4. Hey Maria, It is so exciting isn't it? I drank my 64 oz each day . I exercised each and everyday. I reached my goal in 8 months. Best wishes, edie
  5. Thank you , you are my angel. I will try this. edie
  6. Belle, As I lost weight I could feel it more with my fingers. It does not show. I am kind of squimish so I don't explore too much. It will be fine. edie:)
  7. Hey H, Welcome. For your encouragement and my bragging on me and my band... I was able to get off my diabetes meds after 3 months. At six months cholest and high blood pressure . At 7 month my heart med (plavix). If I can help you just pm me. Best wishes, edie
  8. Welcome and I am happy for you to be on the "list". You will find this site so helpful. I am two hours away from doctor so if I needed an answer fast I looked or asked here. Best wishes from the states, edie:)
  9. surgeon $4000 hospital $13500 lab & diagnostics $951 prescribed gym membership $459 hotel, food $373 total $19283 I am a self pay and I could take off membership for gym and also I live 2 hours away so my mileage was deductible too. My surgeons at seminar quoted $17500. After they dealt with my insurance and concluded I would have to be a self pay they went into detail about costs with me. It would actually be $18451.00 for medical expenses. Just thought this might be interesting thread. I am deeply in love with my lapband. My lapband loves me too. If I wasn't married I would marry my lap.. Back to reality.... I am satisfied. edie
  10. I sure appreciate all the posts to my thread. My sister bandsters are feelin me. I forgot my legs don't rub anymore and I don't have to pull the legs of my shorts down anymore. Lets go over this again. 1. My back is not rolling. 2. My legs are not rubbing. How long will it take for my 40D boobs to start rising? Your band sister, edie with the 40 longs.
  11. I lost very fast too. It sure helps encourage you does't it? Make sure you get your liquids in. I loved and still love sf instant carnation breakfasts to drink. Good luck and welcome. Your band sister, edie
  12. Rocko , I can't help you with the ear prob. I wish I could. I think or I hope you have the water amount wrong . Check again with your doctor. One of my online friends who was banded Jan 30 07 was suppose to drink 2 oz ever hour for example. My doctor in Louisville Ky didn't give me any directions on water. Mine was just a general guideline of 64 oz a day and include any soup etc in that daily total. The burping yes I have had. I THINK I drank to fast when it happened. I wish I could have more or better answers for you. Hopefully someone in the medical profession will post . Good luck your band sister,:phanvan edie
  13. Just wanted to toot my own horn. I know those female bandsters and soon to be bandsters know how bras make it even worse. For the last 2 months I haven't had those back rolls. It feels so good. edie
  14. Hey Tatty our stats are almost the same. I am thrilled with my band . Good luck on the finance part. I was spending at LEAST $140 a month on junk food. That is how I justified my self pay surgery. edie
  15. edieparks replied to Victoriana's topic in The Lounge
I moved to KY and I notice some call mutts a "sooner". It comes from the dog would sooner be here or sooner be there. In IN they call them (mutts) Heinz 57's. edie
  16. I love the Walmart Grape sf drink. I feel like making sure I drink my sf liqiuds each day really helped me with my weight loss. I still miss my diet mt dew. Oh well it is worth it. Good luck, edie
  17. I was nervous too. I thought I can , I can , I can endure it. You won't be the first to gag (if you do) so just put on your big girl panties..... It is so worth it. edie
  18. This site helped me so much too. I love that you are so excited. Follow your doctors orders, get you liquid in each day and try to get your exercise each day too. I had 6 plateaus in my 8 months and that made it hard but I knew the science behind it and knew I looked and felt better then when I started plateau or not. I started feeling really good at about 200 lbs. I could not believe how much easier it was just to do daily activities. I could dust the whole house without resting!! Before I would have to take a break. good luck edie
  19. For this first time in my adult life (age 48) I bought a cheap lawn chair. It will HOLD ME. I will be flying in Sept and I also look foward to a comfortable flight. I considered first class before to help but the prices were way out of my league. I'm feelin ya girl. edie
  20. To be blunt , the most obvious is are you ready to NOT eat four pieces of chicken at once??? If you are not , the band is not for you. This is how I put it to people who ask me about it. What I am saying is , if you are not ready to give up eating large amounts of food the band is not a good choice. Now at 8 months I can eat a little of pretty much anything but not a large amount of anything . I am amazed at how long food hangs around. Before it would be gone in one evening. How many times has my hubby asked where is that strawberry ice cream ? I would say I ate it. I thought buying his favorite flavor would help me. Ha. Then I started buying for him and me. I would eat mine and..... well you get the picture. I know this isn't a nice post but very very honest. I am so grateful for my band. Now I REALLY REALLY eat to live not live to eat . edie
  21. The time you are on the liquid stage is the HARDEST thing that you will go thru. It is HARD. Notice I am saying Hard?? It is so worth it. It makes you really appreciate food. Those first scrambled eggs I ate.... I still remember the feeling. I had soreness for two days only after surgery. I tell folks it was like I had done too many sit-ups. I have NEVER done too many in my LIFE but it was how I imagined I would feel. lol Side affects. Hmmmm. I can't really think of anything. I guess this is a good thing. good luck, edie:)
  22. Welcome future sister bandster. I hope your journey goes at well as mine has. edie
  23. Just to try to be on a up beat note, could you try to get into a exercise routine? I started swimming laps about 7 weeks before surgery. I would go slowly for about 20 minutes. I was a self pay. If insurance does not pay ..... For myself I would spend at least (I'm shamed) $7 on my "stash" each day. So I knew I could afford it. I would treat myself to lunch at least twice a week for what $10 each time? Do the math . good luck edie
  24. Baked beans, 1/2 burger, potato chip (tee hee). Just like normal. This is what is so great about the band. Just take it slow..... edie
  25. Exercise (walking and swimming) helped my band. I know some people just do not have in time in their busy days. I started with about 30 minutes and have built up to 1 to 2 hours of exercise a day. I do not sweat just move. edie
