Food Sympathy, do you get this?
Dear Laura, You have a good attitude. Your familiy could be saying , you shouldn't have done it, it won't work for you, etc. It does get even EASIER to be around food . Just expect their comments , you will get alot of comments . I love the one now , NOW you can eat right ? Like I haven't been eating. lol Hang in there and look foward to those smaller sizes. I feel so normal in a crowd now not the really fat woman anymore. your band sister, edie

Hello Everyone
Welcome Rashad, Happy that you are doing some research about banding. I am very happy with my band. This is the first time in my life that I reached my goal and was able to wear my new small size clothes for more than 4 or 5 days. I would always quit my diet when I reached my goal and start eating like before. Stupid but that is what I always did. It dawned at about 50 lbs that there would be no going off the diet and it made me happy . I get FULL with my wonderful band. Start trying to walk 7 mins away and 7 minutes back whereever you are. Don't worry about people staring at you. Best wishes, edie

Choking????
Dear Corn, I think dear Daddy is scared for you. You have to make this decision on your own. I feared a stroke / heart attack with my climbing weight number. I was not going to stop at 250 , I could tell. If he brings it up again, tell him you have searched everywhere and could not find any evidence. edie

Should I or shouldn't I?
That was a problem for me too. I was a "good" dieter. I was a chronic yo yo dieter too. This is the first time in my life that I have been able to wear my small size jeans more then just maybe 4 or 5 days before I became too big for them. I am in my size 12 jeans for 8 weeks now. edie

I need some good thoughts
For myself I do have fears but the fear of a future stroke or heart attack was VERY scary to me. I just knew that I was going to keep adding to my weight. It would be maybe just a few years before I creeped up to my top weight of 276. edie

Consult Questions
I told my doctor I didn't have any question too. I told him I had read a lot about it . So he showed me a band and told me what he wanted to tell me. So don't worry about it, just be honest. edie

Help! Need Suggestions and Support!
Hey Keyla, I think you should be happy with your progress. It seems your are eating less, exercising and mostly getting your water in. Dont forget if you eat soups that counts towards your liquids. My suggestion is to count calories. When my progress slowed I started counting and quit for the day at 1000-1100. If I was still wanting something I would eat sf popsicle (sf banana is my fav) . The 30 or 40 calories I would just try to ignore (lol). Soon I was losing again . Best wishes, edie

Yet another newbie
Holly, Good luck. Your weight before and after is really close to mine. I was able to go off my diabetic shots 3 mos after surgery. I feel like I have finally ended my yoyo dieting. I feel like I have control over my food addiction now. I started walking 1/2 mile in 35 minutes and built up to 4 miles in 1 hour and 5 minutes with my weight loss. Of course that helped me reach my goal in 8 mos. Best wishes with your insurance. edie

Almost Banded!!!
Stacy, You are in the hardest part of this . I think the liquid part separate the "boys from the men". For me I had very little pain after surgery. It felt like I had done too many sit ups. I have never done too many but I imagined it would have felt like that. So everytime I bent over for something for two days after surgery I would say to myself oh I am little sore. I took it easy for one week then started walking 1/2 mile a day slowly. Do a search for ticker and you will get instructions. I hope your experience is easy like mine was, edie

Some things..
I attended a seminar about it. At the end of seminar they had anyone who was interested fill out a form and they contacted my insurance for me. I was turned down by insurance and went self pay. I found where the closest seminar was by looking on the net. My closest was 2 hours away. edie

So THIS is what it feels like....
Terry, Hip hip horay, hip hip horay for the band! I know this rush that you are getting. Maybe you are feeling that YOU are in control not what is in the kitchen? The band makes it possible for me to eat like I am on a diet but not feel like "that's all I get?" and "I want MORE". I feel so at peace with my relationship with food. In fact it has really moved down the list of important things in my life. I am ashamed but today I had to throw some things out because I had let them get stale. No matter how good you contain it sometimes it just loses its crunch. I was still in the old me shopping mode. Along with knowing how much to put on my plate I need get better at shopping for my band. Best wishes and continued success, edie

Yes I took it to control by diabetes. I was supposed to help curb my appetite. My appetite didn't have to do with my eating. Being hungry never happened because I was alway eating. edie

Question
Spunk You do have to learn what you can eat at first. I think it has to do with your surgery and healing. I felt me eating too fast and not chewing long enough caused my "watering of the mouth" . I did acturally throw up maybe 3 times. I don't have any trouble with any foods now at 9 mos. I cannot eat alot but anything. You don't need a big plate (lol) but I don't ask for a small one. I have felt cofortable with any food for about 3 months now. I guess about the first 6 months I kept in mind what foods would be available and brought some along that would keep me from being hungry. I did have chicken trouble at first but only prepared with certain seasoning. It dawned on me its the seasoning not chicken . Duh. Best wishes edie
