  3. Wow! Thanks Audree!
  4. I think you mean Dr. Nigro.... not Malley.
  5. Good luck to both of you. I am using Dr. Malley and the $5300 is the dr portion of the $16.5.... the other is the hospital portion and is what would be paid for by medicare (WHEN the center of excellence is approved) Sedalia isn't that far away, when you consider going to Denver or Mexico for self pay. Keep us posted....
  6. Post when you feel up to it.. WE WANT TO KNOW
  7. GLAD to meet ya.. as I am one of the newbies you mentioned. For me it is good to see a bandster that survived a pregnancy.. I would say .. yo know how to do it, and be glad you only gained 50.. It could of easily been 80lbs I am patiently (NOT) waiting for my band date.
  8. Pop corn = Corn and Corn is very HIGH in Starch, which means it is high in Carbs and for me CARBS= STRAIGHT SUGAR + It doesn't fill me up, and for bandsters it could get stuck.
  9. Happy MLK DAY! Nothing really to report... I'm just passing time til my appointments are done and I can actually schedule a date.
  10. there are lots of guys on here... some post via their wifey....as there are also a lot of husband wife teams.. As a general rule: Guys lose faster and the band is no different....
  11. NOTE: I am not banded yet... but I will be in the next couple months... FOR ME.. I KNOW that I will have to stick to a low carb eating plan, because that is the only way I've ever lost weight.. also.. HYPOthyroid, and PCOS... it keeps my periods in line.... I know I will try at some point a piece of white doughy bread (even though my doc says its pretty much the ONLY thing we have to truly give up).... In my opinion FOR ME... getting the band is a FORCED commitment to eating low/lower carb.. protein first, veggies second... I am so used to looking for low sugar and sugar free atlernatives as it is now.. Its just natural to me..... Everyone is different...... Time will tell.
  12. I voted, but I fully expect to have to pay my annual out of pocket max......which is around $3000.00 Self pay at his office is $16,500.00
  13. ARE WE TWINS?????? Married at 18 divorced at 31, been with my "whatever he is" for 2 years now...... I'm a mom a stepmom and sharing a life that is full of contentment. I think we will eventually tie the knot legally, but for now we have the his, hers, and ours........
  14. Happy Sunday all you lucky Feb bandsters! I have my psyc eval this wednesday..... I think I need to slow down on my eating now, because I have just been out of control since starting this process... I don't know if I'm on a fare well to food tour or what.. I just know it is a little nuts... Welcome to all the newly posting feb bandsters!
  15. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! goodbye twoterville! I can't wait till I can join you!
  16. Congrats!!!!!!!! There is a Feb 2007 bandsters thread going.. I created it when I THOUGHT I would be one of them, sadly it doesn't look like the doc will be able to get me in til March or GASP..... April, but I do post... (Heck I post everywhere! LOL) Welcome to LBT.. this place is AWESOME!
  17. WOW... sounds like something else is going on within the office.... maybe they are having staff problems.
  18. Kelsy: That is sure exciting! but WOW a whole month! I only plan on taking 3 days off work (plus a weekend). I would suggest you fill out an FLMA (Family Leave Medical Act) paper easily downloaded off of www.dol.gov. This would ensure that you have a job when you come back... (they don't have to PAY you but they do have to save a job for you) Good Luck and keep us posted... (even though I won't be getting banded in February!) :cry
  19. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!! welcome to lbt!
  20. babygrl: how cool is that your shrink has a band! Lucky woman!
  21. Every doc is different where they place their ports.. I specifically asked this question while at a seminar, he said (draw a line from your belly button to the bottom of your breast bone and a little to the right is where he always puts his, he also said you will not see it and won't be frightening small children! He did say that SOMETIMES you can see it if you loose a lot of weight, and if that happens you can talk about having it moved.
