I'm sure this is in the wrong section but--any ideas?
No, you're not the only one - I haven't been able to get into chat for over a week. I sent two emails to alex; however, they've gone non responded too so not sure what is going on. Am sure he will get it fixed when he can - at least I hope so!

Back home - very difficult post op for me
It's a word now if it wasn't before. I didn't feel sore at all inside, just where the drainage bag was and once they took it out, it was more like sore muscles. You're lucky if you can swallow your pills -- I still have to cut mine into tiny pieces in order to be able to get them down. Keep sip, sip, sipping - that is so important! You should post your experience - good or bad - everyone should know what might happen -- not everyone's experiences are wonderful -- I'm 4 weeks out and still have problems and have posted about it -- everything helps someone. Obviously, that is your choice in the end though.

a question
Here is some additional information if interested: Gastric bypass surgery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (from Mac) " The mini-bypass is not one of the surgeries that the ASMBS has put their stamp of approval on. It's dangerous, for one thing. Sometimes insurance will pay for a DS and the surgeon goes in and can't actually completely it due to scar tissue or something. So they just do the sleeve stomach part and you get no malabsorption."

Back home - very difficult post op for me
Susi - Sorry to hear you had a bad experience - that has to suck. I couldn't sleep for the first week I was home - try taking some liquid benadryl - it really helped me to sleep. I'd sleep maybe 90 minutes - and it wasn't restful as I had the most horrid dreams. The benadryl took care of that and after taking it for a couple of nights, I began to sleep through the night. As for the 3T of broth - that's okay - just drink it often - they told me 2oz every 15 minutes for the first 3 days. Just focus on getting in as much liquid as you can so you don't get dehydrated. Where are you sore? Did they give you anything for pain? Hang in there, the worst is over the best is yet to come.

I spoke with Nina and Monica w/Dr. A
I've heard both ways - that those items are sufficient and that they aren't. I would suggest calling the immigration office and asking them or checking out the website on line for passports and see if they have make mention of it on the website -- if not, there is a number you can call for answers. Better to be safe than sorry -- and who knows, you might have your passport by 8/4.

i am alive!
Glad you are doing well -- hiatal hernia's are very common and apparently easy for them to fix while they are in there doing the surgery. Enjoy your water and Clear liquids and remember to follow your post-op diet and you'll be on the road to recovery in no time.

Penny I am sure that if you get there at 10:45, Ernesto will wait for you -- you may not need to check your luggage as you don't need that much while you are in Mexico so if you have carryon only, your departure will be even quicker. Once your date is scheduled, Nina will send you several emails with what you will need to bring, buy, etc., etc. - if you have any questions after that, you can ask her or us ... several of us have had our surgery in Mexicali!

Hard Time With Food
This is a quote of WASa's that she responded to when another member was having the same/similar issues. It hit home with me - maybe it will with you too ... Good luck with your struggle - if you believe it you can achieve it!

My story
Welcome Steve - you will find all sort of information, suggestions and support on this site. I am Bearded's fiance and had my surgery on 6/12 with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, MX. I have lost about 28 lbs. since the surgery and although I have had a few issues, nothing major, I believe the sleeve is the tool I need to get thin and stay there. I've had a weight problem my entire life and have probably lost a 1000 lbs. during my adult life - I'm tired of that. Good luck to you with your surgery and don't hesitate to ask anything. We're all here for you.

Pre-op diet
They are yummy and a great way to get in liquids if you have a difficult time drinking, like I do, after surgery.

Fitness Center
Congrats Judy - how fun. I belonged to a lady's gym that was like Curves, however they ended up going out of business -- it was fun because it was all women and everyday they did something different with the machines to mix things up - it wasn't the same ole thing everyday like Curves. I was sad when I received the letter they were closing their doors. Keep it up and have FUN ... you'll be on the good road by the time you have your surgery.

Prayers needed!
Bob is fine - and no, he did almost all the driving, stubborn man - guess he figured I wouldn't drive 85 the entire way - he did end up gaining us about an hour in time. He finally gave in and turned the wheel over to me about 1.5 hours from home. He was thankful to be able to sleep in our own bed last night and said he tossed and turned until about 1:30 and then slept - I have to go to work today; however, I won't wake him before I leave and hopefully he'll feel rested when he wakes. Thank all of you for asking.

Prayers needed!
Thanks everyone -- she was on a cpap machine when I went in to see her last and unable to talk, so I left her my email and contact information and asked her to keep me posted as to how she was doing. I also texted Dr. Campos to ask how she was after they went back into surgery yesterday afternoon about 3:30. I haven't received a response yet. Once I hear, I will be sure and let you all know. Thank you for your prayers I know they will help.

Post op..I need help!
I had to take 40 mg of nexium the first couple of weeks I was home -- that seemed to help - I took 20 in the am and 20 in the pm ... sorry I didn't think to tell you that when we were at the hospital - I think my brain was shutdown due to boredom! Sometimes I have to take nexium and zantac and that will cut out the acid reflux. I take one nexium and 2 zantac. Hope that helps! Glad to hear you made it home okay!

Hey All, I am one of You!
Welcome to VST. I think the gurgling noise after your eat is a combination of the gas from surgery, early on, and then your stomach adjusting to being smaller and having smaller portions. I don't really know for sure. I know that I am 4 weeks out and I still get the gurglies - not every time I eat, but more often and not. I assume, as with the fact I belch like a sailor without any warning and was told that this would go away with time, that so will the gurglies. I would say it is NOT hunger. When I get hunger pains, it's not gurglie, it's almost "painful" ... not sure if this helps your or confuses you more.!

Prayers needed!
Okay all - there is a patient in the hospital who is a revision - she had her band replaced once and still had issues so had a revision. She had it on 7/11. She is having some issues and needs all of our prayers. Her BP is low and she has not been able to walk. She has an excessive amount of drainage and Dr. A is going to go back in and check things out to be sure she has no leaks. She is very scared, as you can imagine; and everyone who has been here with left today, will be leaving today, or will be leaving in the morning. I will not give her name, just call her "N". Please everyone, say your prayers for her and that she has a speedy recovery. She is here by herself. Thank you, VegasAngel.
