  1. Carolyn - The angels are flying with you and God will be guiding your surgeon's hands ... we'll be looking forward to hearing from you when you're up to posting!
  2. Shanda .... just wash that thought right out of your mind - you know it's working - you're just at temporary loss - it's only water gain - so let it go!
  3. Lorden - Welcome to our site, we're happy to have you as a member of the family. I can't answer any questions about Kaiser; however, I know there are members on here who have Kaiser and they may be able to help you. Take care and keep us posted on your progress. We're here for you!
  4. Kiki - were you banded? or Sleeved?
  5. Hi JoAnne Here is contact information for Nina, one of Dr. Aceves coordinator's - the number goes directly to the office where she is located. Nina Eguia Patient Coordinator, Dr. Aceves 1888 344 3916 cell 760 646 1828 nina@mexicalibariatirccenter.com My price was $9500 - that was all inclusive w/o traveling expenses, and also included repair of a hiatal hernia. (If Dr. Aceves finds something wrong while he's in 'there' then he'll fix it or remove it (i.e. bad gallbladder, appendix) at no extra charge. We live in LV so we drove instead of flying. Generally SW has pretty good deals into San Diego though, so you might check them out -- Ernesto will pick you up there.
  6. I'm sure you won't be the first, plus they are working on your stomach, not your female organs, so it shouldn't create any issues with regard to the surgery itself.
  7. Congrats Helen and AJW ... I have 8 lbs. to onderland - hoping to hit it before the end of the month ... but not stressing over it if I don't ...
  8. Everyone here is in the same boat - if we could have done it on our own and KEPT it off, we wouldn't need the surgery -- WLS is not the magic pill - it is a tool to help you lose your weight and keep it off - but you have to work with the tool in order for it to work. You will feel full and satisfied on the small amount you are able to eat. Hopefully I have answered some of your questions and I am sure others here will share their stories as well. Keep us posted on your decision and ask any questions you have - we will always answer them for you. Again, welcome!
  9. AWESOME -- I can't wait to get there ... it's coming ... slowly, but it's coming!!!!
  10. Thanks for the compliments Ruthi - you're too sweet. I had Bearded take some pics of me tonight in an outfit I wore to work today - once he downloads them off the camera I will post them ... I will also take some of him next time I can get him to put his clothes on! LOL We had a great weekend, too, and OF COURSE we'll do it again and again!!! We miss you too!
  11. Chancie OF COURSE we feel the same way - you're a GREAT inspiration to so many and have an upbeat and helpful attitude. Glad you feel at home here -- I feel the same way - I don't go anywhere else!
  12. Chancie - SOUNDS DIVINE -- Bearded and I both love Salmon and I have some in the freezer -- have a feeling I'm going to have a long grocery list this weekend, but variety will be nice for a change. Thanks!
  13. Samantha - Thank you for sharing your story and I hope you are on the road to recovery. What an awful thing to have had to go through - I hope by your sharing your experience that others will be more aware of what their body is telling them. Keep us posted on your progress, please.
  14. That seems like an awful lot, but if that is what the scale says ...
  15. JoAnn - sorry for the bad news - I HATE the way they write policy information - as it can be interpreted different ways by different people. What is your current BMI? I agree with you - I would NEVER get a procedure with which I wasn't comfortable even if the insurance would cover it. I wish you luck on your appeal. I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves and he is totally wonderful. I wouldn't sacrifice my health to save a few hundred (or even thousand) dollars. I don't know about the other doctors; however, I am sure others on here do or at the other site. If you decide to have it done in Mexico all I can recommend to you is RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH and don't let the discounted price be your deciding factor.
  16. My thoughts and prayers are with you -- God will be with your surgeon and angels will be watching over you.
  17. Malaika replied to stoongal's topic in Soft (stage 3)
The list says pureed veggies until day 30; however, I think if you cut the pieces small enough you will be fine. Sounds yummy!
  18. Malaika replied to stoongal's topic in Soft (stage 3)
Stoongal - Sounds like another GREAT recipe - I will be going to the grocery this weekend, so will get ingredients to make both the Lentil Soup and this one too. Thanks!!!
  19. Thank you for sharing your story and coming out of "hiding". We're very happy that the forum is helping you and we hope we continue to offer you all the support you need.
  20. Hi Tara - Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your surgery and surgery date. I had some gas pain in my left shoulder; however, I put a heating pad on it and it helped it go away -- the other important thing and good way to get all the CO2 gas out is to walk, woak, walk, walk! I had a drainage tube for 2 days - it was no big deal - that was the incision that was the most tender - not painful, more like a sore muscle. when it was removed it didn't hurt, but it sure felt weird.
  21. Charity - He's your surgeon - have faith in him - trust him.
  22. Charity that is wonderful news. Put yourself in God's hands and know that this is His will for you in your life - it all came together so easy it has to be. You shoudl stop eating/drinking 12 hours before your surgery -- you can take any necessary medication in the morning with only enough Water to get them down. You'll do GREAT - keep us posted - we'll be watching to hear from you!
  23. Que - welcome to our forum and thank you for sharing your story- I am so sorry for all you have had to go through. I hope that everything will work out for you and I certainly wouldn't take your doctor's word that no one will give you a sleeve -- check around with other bariatric surgeons in your area, neighboring states, even Mexico.
  24. I got mine at Target - weren't expensive at all - I think they were 500 mg. - I was taking 2 in the am and 2 in the pm before surgery.
  25. Hey Shanda - I think the weight gain is probably water retention and one you start I am sure it will go away and so will the pounds. Don't weigh everyday - that might help, too -- and the measurement thing is a GREAT idea. Keep your positive attitude - you will get through this and start losing lbs. again.
