  1. I had no pain at all except for some shoulder pain in my shoulder from the CO2 gas and that went away with a heating pad. I never took any pain medicine at all. Everyone's pain level is different; however, everyone who had their surger when I had mine had no pain - the incision where the drain is is uncomfortable -more like a pulled or sore muscle, not actual pain.
  2. Rosey - that is so great - not sure what to tell you about the pants -- wear skirts maybe until you can get into your smaller pants? Or a belt on the others with a long top over it maybe? As for the magnesium -- that was me that told Skinny about it - it works for me -- if two doesn't work, the doc said take 3, try that a few days and up it if it still didn't work -- you can't OD on magnesium - your body will burn off what you don't use. However, I like Skinny's idea of the magnesium and 1/2 a dose of Miralax every other day. As for me, if I eat a salad, that will move things through in about 1 hour! Keep us posted on your progress and you best be posting some pics soon girl - new hair-do - new body! WOO HOO. Happy 3 month Sleeveaversary to Skinny, Rosey & my honey Bearded. My 4 month is tomorrow (10/12)
  3. Hi Dancer and welcome to VST - hope you don't mind, but I moved your post to a different thread. I had my surgery on 6/12/09 and was back at work on 6/19/09 -- I have a desk job and other than feeling foggy from a lack of Protein, I was fine. I was very tired - could make it through the day, but I was ready for bed shortly after getting home. That passed when I got to mushies and was able to get in more protein. Where are you having your surgery performed? We're here for you whenever you have any questions - feel free to ask!
  4. Thank you - it looks interesting.

Bookgirl (and other Dr. Aceves' patients) Here is the list for mushies: Day 21 thru 30 ( soft food ) Soft food should be the consistency of a thick liquid ( no chunks or solid material ) and it should be chewed very well before swallowing until it is a liquid consistency ) Tofu Low fat cottage cheese Cereal oatmeal Precooked pureed rice Low fat Yogurt Yogurt mixed with fruit very well blended Cream soups eggs Boiled pureed fruit ( example pear, apple ) Watermelon, papaya or melon in small pieces Boiled pureed vegetables Beans Hope it helps you all with your grocery shopping and meal planning!
  7. Glad to hear you're doing well - and that neither of you were injured in the car accident. Cars are replaceable, people are not!
  8. Tell him to send you to Las Vegas and you can clean mine! LOL
  9. Snates - thanks for posting and letting us know how you're doing - day 2 for me was the worst, afer that it was all eas(ier) going! You will do great - just stay the course - and keep us posted.
  10. Interesting, I will have to check it out - sounds interesting - might be a nice alternative now and again. Thanks:biggrin0:
  11. Iwillbethin - WELCOME to the forum. We are so happy to have another member and I'm glad to hear that reading this post has helped you. Don't be down on yourself - if you stick with a sensible eating plan and get in plenty of Fluid, your body will start dropping the weight again. Something else you should do - take your measurements - there are weeks when I may not lose anything - however, I always seem to lose inches somewhere -- that is an incentive to see the tape measure moving when the scale isn't!
  12. Okay, new weekend, new questions: 1) Weekend plans? Deep Pit Posse Party - started last night - runs through tomorrow. Ruthi is in town too! 2) Beatles: Overrated or Musical Geniuses? IMO - musical geniuses 3) Name something positive that happened to you this week. My boss came back from vacation and said to me "Look at you getting all skinny!" 4) Do you like your job? LOVE my job, can't stand my new office companion; however, working on getting that changed.
  13. :001_tt2: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX :party4:
  14. cramping too -- it's not fun and carolyn is right DEFINITELY not worth the milk
  15. Nancy - if you go up to the chat "button" and then RIGHT CLICK on your mouse and select "Open in new window" it will open chat in a separate window and then you can still have the forum opened and go back and forth between the two without getting logged out of either. Hope this helps! I'll get to the chat room again one of these nights~!
  16. Never heard of it - what exactly is it and what brought this post on? Can you post a picture or a link?
  17. Thanks for the heads up Steve (was wondering where you've been hiding). I take my prilosec in the morning before leaving for work; however, it doesn't seem to be doing the job, as I generally end up having to take some Zantac during the day, too. I am taking 40 mg. so maybe I need more? I don't know - will talk to my PCP when I see him on 10/15 for my blood test results.
  18. Welcome to our forum family Jade, we're happy to have you join us. Good luck with your surgery and we will look forward to joining you on your journey. Ask all the questions you might have and someone will have an answer for you. We're all here to support one another!
  19. I'm hesitant these days to try anything with milk in it since I seem to be so lactose intolerant. SO happy you found something you like!
  20. Bearded and I get the same thing when we tell anyone about our surgery ... "Oh, you had a bybass?" "NO." "Oh, so you had the band?" "NO" ... well what else is there? So we explain it to them -Bearded had to explain it to his PCP and his cardiologist -- his cardiologist was EXTREMELY interested and asked for all kinds of information and for information on Dr. Aceves as he has patients who need different types of surgery and he said he would never refer anyone to surgeons in Las Vegas -- he refers them to Utah, California - so he may be referring patients to Mexicali for weight loss. So we just keep trying to educate people - although I'm not so sure they really pay that much attention.
  21. I, personally, think that is a terrible idea. The idea of the sleeve is to be able to eat normal, just less. You need to eat more than unjury and salads -- you need to be sure to get in your protein and limit your carbs and get in your fluids, and your weight will begin to come off again -- even possibly 10 lbs. by 10/31. I agree with Tiff - do it right the first time, and you won't have to take it off twice. Good luck to you.
  22. This is what I got from Gaby right after my surgery ... here is what is allowed on FULL Liquids: Day 11 thru 20 ( full liquids ) Cream Soups Yogurt Jello-O Boiled pureed fruit ( example apple, pear) applesauce Watermelon, papaya or melon in small pieces Low fat milk 1 or 2% Water, Propel, tea Soy beverages sugar free pudding Protein shakes and protein powders mixed with milk Just make sure you either mush the fruit or cut them in REALLY tiny pieces otherwise you'll be in pain!
  23. Well, actually, it IS on a Tuesday -- so who knows. Thank you for the kind words, I'm hoping to keep up the pace! I'll look forward to seeing your pics and progress too when the time comes! Well, I've lived in the US my entire life; however, my cousin is married to a Canadian and I spent a lot of time around him - and I dated a guy from Canada for 2 years - so I say "eh" A LOT! LOL
  24. Malaika replied to ash's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Dr. Aceves says 6 weeks and then you can exercise as tolerated. (Gonna have to get that list of classes from you - maybe we can go together!)
  25. MtnLover- great news on the negative test -- hang in there, the rest will come - God always provides. I hope you get to feeling better; hopefully just a bug and it will move along soon - get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids -- try some theraflu, too, I hear it works wonders!
