I have been pretty tired and am just now back to my normal self...I will be four weeks post on Wednesday. How much protein are you getting each day? I think if its less than 60 gms you may be tired from a nutritional deficiency...if your diet is in good order, wait another week and hopefully youll be snapping back !!
  2. I think all of us would love to have that 'fast forward' button of life to when we are thinner or maybe just a crystal ball so we can see it!
  3. Great blog...hits home to all I think! I have been reading a few post of people expressing guilt about what they've eaten and the common thread seems to be way too much guilt over eating something much smaller than in the pre-band old days. Like the topping off a piece of pizza compared to eating a whole pizza back in the day!! Maybe I should post a survey to see how many of us will admit to having eaten a whole pizza!! LOL!

Whenever I read people's 'cheat confessions' I always think but didnt they (like me!) eat way more than that before the band?! Maybe you didnt have a perfect day but I dont think its anything to get too worried about! I bet youre still doing way better than back in the old days! Good luck!
  5. Good luck, You'll get tons of info and support here...were here for you!
  6. I wonder how they would have responded if you had simply said..."That really hurts my feelings."

Go under forums and you will find categories based on age!
  8. That idea seems crazy but also true...I may have to try it. I am eating about 800 a day and I'll find out monday how thats going...I feel like I'm not losing but who knows!!
  9. Danimal, youre doing great! I think youre right about the fat to muscle thing!
  10. Everyone should read your blog. Great story, simple, honest, and very motivating. Thanks!
  11. I was scared too because I had never had surgery or anaesthesia! Now I cant believe I didnt do it sooner. Best decision ever! Worth every penny of the self pay and now I'm SURE I can do this! Good luck, we will all be thinking of you!
  12. It definitely gets better as the swelling goes down and your band loosens up. At first I felt a bubble or burp literally after every sip of water and it wasnt pleasant. Now I only get that as a reminder that I have eaten or drank too fast!
  13. Give yourself permission to rest! The first week or so you are recovering from the trauma of the surgery. Then the next week you begin to feel better in terms of incisions, etc but you get really tired due to many days of nutritional deficiency...kind of like at the end of or after the flu...you're not still sick, but you are exhausted. Give yourself a break if you can!
  14. It is bandster hell until you get your first fill. Dont beat yourself up, get back on track the best you can. A year from now this fiirst cheating/hell month wont matter! Thanks for being so honest. Just like your preop diet, try to think of this as your prefill diet! Good luck, friend!
  15. We Mayos are all about support and not about the judgement!!! Let yourself off the hook. I don't know you but I am guessing you have eaten a LOT more than that in past stressful times...I know I have. A few bites of food is NOTHING compared to some of my stress binges. Dont hold yourself to perfection! Think of what you would say to someone else who had posted that...its just not a big deal. There was a blog where someone said "there's a lapse, a relapse, and a collapse." Yours was just a tiny (and understandable ) lapse!!! Be really nice to yourself...you deserve it!! We are here FOR you.
  16. I went on my first cruise right before I got banded and here's why I didnt gain weight or overeat...it actually made me very sad and a little bit sick to see all these obese people just loading up their plates with their obese kids doing the same. I hoped I was on my way to something different and now I'm sure I am. The cruise was a blast though and I didnt even bring back swine flu!!!
  17. I guess if you don't get upset by what you see maybe its ok to weigh all the time. But if it ruins your mood maybe find a trusted soul to keep it except one a week. I am also a scale whore and I'm thinking about asking my DH to keep it somewhere I cant find it because I do get kind of ruined if it goes up a pound from day to day even though I know its meaningless...probably just too much salt on the rim of the glass the night before!
  18. Agreed. We rock. Thanks to all for the support and honest talk. I think some people got nasty on that thread because we are anonymous and because our worst fears are displayed in other peoples posts. No excuse for it though...my job is to cheer you all on and if you ASK for a bitch slap, (like I know sometimes I will need someone to say hey get back on track!) well, that's different! LOL!
  19. I guess my doc is a lenient one. I am drinking coffee and any number of different alcohol drinks and having no problem. He said ok to the carbonation too but I just know it will be a painful burp issue and I just dont crave it. There is such a HUGE variability in everyone's instructions , I think that's kind of strange but who am I to say? Cheers!!
  20. John, And for anyone else interested in my unsolicited advice. I always weigh on a monday because it keeps me in line for the weekend...if I weighed on a Friday I think I would have the feeling that I could make up for the weekend sins during the following week! I wish I would weigh once a month but very few people can have that kind of discipline! Theres a girl on here called Wendytip who does it though. I wish I could lock up my scale and then just have someone let me use it on a planned schedule...weighing more than once a week always kind of ruins me but it is always calling me from the closet!! Then theres one in my daughters bathroom and the WiiFit weighs you, and the doc's office...AaaaaHHHHH!
  21. Maybe we should all get together for a game of water pong! Seriously maybe a rainbow of the rubber band idea?

I never had any surgery before either and now, three weeks later I am so sure this is the best thing I have ever done!! (well worth it even though I self-payed). I am free of the addiction for three whole weeks...no appetite, no hunger, no cravings, just doing my thing to get the protein and water in!! LOVE MY BAND!!! And down a jean size.

I think I had those exact same acid washed pants!!! We called them paper bag jeans because you flipped the top down...they were so acid-washed that when you were about to step into them you could see beams of light coming in through the acid streaks!!
  24. I am down from a 16 Levis to a 14 and I dont even have to do the crazy-jeans-dance to get them on!I have a lot of sizes to go through before I will have to leave my own closet to shop!!
