  1. Chancie, Way to go!!! What a great goal to reach, and during the holidays, no less. Keep up the good work. And keep updating us on your progress. It's so motivating. Congratulations.
  2. Whoo hoo! Way to go. NSV's are the best!
  3. Thanks all for the advise. I will try fish oil first since I have some. I am supposed to be taking them anyway for my cholesterol. (they DO help lower your cholesterol-that much I know for sure!). Hopefully that will work before I have to go buy a wig!
  4. Hi everyone! Although I have read posts regarding VSG and hair loss, until now I haven't experienced this at all. In the last 3 weeks though, my hair is falling out BIG time! Luckily I have thick hair so it's not so noticable. But if it keeps up at this rate, I'll be looking for a wig. What am I missing in my diet? I take multi vitamins, B-complex, B-12, and magnesium supplements. I try to eat a fairly healthy diet, as we all do. Any suggestions?:001_cool:
  5. I have not told my parents. I am 4 months post op, they know of my wt loss, but I just told them I am changing my lifestyle, especially my diet. They wouldnt understand. My mother also yo-yo diets, and has my whole life. My dad bugs her constantly about her weight. I just don't want to hear it from them. It's my decision, and I will never regret it!
  6. yea, again tonight. I hope this gets fixed soon. I miss chatting!
  7. Think of it this way: You have lost a 10 year old!! Can you imagine carrying a ten year old child around 24/7?
  8. 4 months post-op now. Still loving my sleeve. The weight is steadily coming off and people around me are amazed. I decided this month to start telling some of my friends and co-workers about the surgery. So far, most of the reactions are supportive. Of course, what's being said behind my back I'll never know! Nor do I care! This decision to go public was made because I feel great about myself, and honestly, I'm tired of keeping it to myself. It's too good not to share! One of my co-workers even pulled me aside crying cause she is so down on herself about her weight and has been researching the band. I referred her to our wonderful website and introduced her to the sleeve. Now I can be an advocate. And that I love!
  9. At first, after surgery I couldn't even think about sweets, and believe me, I am a sweet lover! But as time passes, it is harder to avoid them. Now I am 4 1/2 months post op and I treat myself every now and then to something sweet. I can tolerate a small amount. BUT, and it's a big one, last week I ate a Large chocolate cookie, one of those that you pay like $2.00 for, it was great, until a few minutes after. Then wham! nausea, reflux and boy did I wish I hadn't eaten it. So, from personal experience, yes you can have some sweets after the sleeve, but very minimal, or be prepared to suffer!
  10. Daisy, welcome home! Glad thats behind you now. did you drop those 5 lbs? Just wondering if any good came out of it? LOL Hope your holidays are stress free from here on out!
  11. Daisy! I'm sooooo sorry to hear of your illness. I will be thinking of you and I'll have some extra protein in your honor to help save your hair! :-) Take care sweetie, and keep us all posted on your status.
  12. Nope, didnt get one in the folder. I checked before I e-mailed her. It's probably something they should start giving us!
  13. Great to know. I sure can use the deduction! I, too, will have to e-mail Dr Aceves's office for a copy of my payment receipt! Thanks all for the info.
  14. Congrats Tiff! You're an inspiration to us all. Keep up the good work!
  15. Daisy, Sounds like a great idea! Perhaps thats the kick in the butt I need. When do you plan to come next?
  16. Thats my problem then, Vegas....The morning is AFTER work for me!
  17. Hey Sleeve Sister! 65 lbs! WOW! That's great! I agree with AJW. Your co-workers must lead an awfully boring life. I haven't told my coworkers about my surgery, but I'm getting many positive comments. It's been great. When they ask what I'm doing, I just say high protein, low carbs and small portions. No lie there! Keep up the good work! I'm proud of you.
  18. Boy, you guys are great. I started this thread, and I'm STILL sitting on the couch. I'm hopeless. I definitely need an excersise buddy for motivation. Someone to pry my sorry butt off the couch. Anyone out there live in north central phoenix??? Oy vey!
  19. Hoping and praying for lower numbers, Judy. Stay calm and think happy thoughts when the cuff goes on!
  20. I drink diet coke every day, just sips mind you, but all in all about 3-4 ozs a day with nothing more than a burp. My weight continues to drop, so I dont believe it stretches the stomach.
  21. Chancie, I work nights 6pm to 6am four nights a week. It makes eating very difficult because on the days you switch from days to nights you tend to eat 5 meals in 24 hours. Breakfast, lunch and dinner during the day, and then usually lunch and dinner during the night. I try to eat lightly during the day, Protein drink or salad at lunch time, fish fillet at dinner time, so I can eat more normally while I'm working. I don't know if this helps, but it's what I do. Good luck tonight.
  22. Pretty high in carbs. But, I admit I have some now and then. Not till you're on a regular diet though.
  23. thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to try them and see what works best for me. Maybe just starting by walking outside (it's beautiful here in phoenix right now) and see how that goes.
  24. Hey all, Being 3 months post-op, I feel great. But I haven't exercised at all. I have an elliptical and I've tried to use it, but am exhausted after only 2-3 minutes! I am such a couch potato! How do you motivate yourselves to get up and go? And what do you do when you can't tolerate it? Help!:frown1:
