Arizona Nurses???
Any Arizona nurses sleeved out there? Thought it would be fun to have a group of nurses comparing notes and having a sleeved lunch together now and then!

Protein Powders
Where do you get unflavored protein powder? Sounds like a great idea!

Protein Powders
I have my surgery scheduled for 7/10 so I have been trying many different Protein drinks, powders, etc. for the post-op period. IDS protein shots are palatable but a lousy form of protein (collagen), whey Gourmet powder was okay, a bit gritty. The peanut-butter chocolate was good. Lean Desserts:lol0: were my favorite, both mixed with Water (for the clear phase) and even better with skim milk (for the full liquid and beyond). My favorite is whipped vanilla, but the chocolate fudge and banana cream were also very good. For clear liquid variety, (besides the protein), I found sugar free hawaiian punch powder in fruit juicy red (remember that!?), raspberry blue, and orange flavors. All are good, just dilute in more than the 16 oz water that they recommend because the flavor is strong. Of course, crystal light lemonades and flavored waters are ok, not my faves. And since I am a self proclaimed diet coke-aholic, I am starting to wean myself off that, so far I haven't found something I like as much :-( Anyone else that has tried other protein sources or have a clear drink "secret", let us all know!

Relief of Post-op Gas
Well, I guess only trying the different ways to relieve the gas will tell. I will try the warm lemon juice, Rosebud2-you try the gas-x, of course we will all be walking it off, and then we'll compare notes! As with all surgeries, everyone recovers differently!

A New Home - Sleeve People!
- A New Home - Sleeve People!
I have told absolutely no one, except my son who is going to take me to the hospital and pick me up. I told my boss I need time off for some "minor" surgery. She asked no questions. When I get home from Mexico, and all is well, perhaps I will tell my family. I just don't want to deal with the aggravation I KNOW I will get from them until it's a done deal.- All liquids
I ordered some of the Lean Dessert protein mix....I hope it's good. I'll let you know!- Did your doctor tell you an expected weight loss?
Congrats on your anniversary WASa! You are truley an inspiration for us all!- Oo-oo-oo
Sounds like they might have used steri-strips which are strips of adhesive paper tape used with an adhesive liquid to help them stick. They will eventually fall off on their own after a week or two. Does it have lines going through it? If so, thats what it is. VergasAngel, as far as allergies, it sounds like perhaps the latex or plastic in the tape and bandaids may cause skin rashes. Ask for paper tape. Most people handle that without problems.- Relief of Post-op Gas
true about the acidity. I might give it a try, though slowly and watered down, if gas becomes a big problem for me. I'll let you know how it works out.- Relief of Post-op Gas
I've heard a lot of sleevers complaining about the gas pains post op. I am an RN and worked post-op for many years. One of the best remedies I have come across was warm lemon juice. It works every time! A very small amount drank slowly would relieve the gas within minutes. Just wondering if this is "legal" clear liquid for immediately post-op with the sleeve?- Why would you leave the US for surgery?
It's all about research...WASa...you couldn't have put it more eloquently. Thanks for speaking for us all.- All liquids
Okay, guys. Now I'm completely confused. During my first month post-op, what is the best way to get the "good" protein that is also, ummmm, palatable? I'm glad this conversation came now. I was just getting ready to order the IDS shots. Oh well.- July Sleever's
Anyone out there getting sleeved in July? I'm on the 10th with Dr. Aceves.- My Success Story Thus Far
Carolnphx, I am also a nurse here in phx. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU so much for your post about youre progression from clears to solids. My surgery with Dr Aceves is July 10th (I seem to say that every time I post, I think seeing the date makes it more real!) and I have been wondering what to expect after the clears, fulls and mushies. Not much is posted after those stages. Now I have a much clearer idea, and I am much more sure I CAN do this! THANK YOU.- Medications
RoseBud, I'm glad youre okay. I will definately talk to my PCP before my surgery, as I take two BP meds and I hadn't even thought of the possibility of not being able to take them during the first post op period. Is it just a matter of getting the pills down, or is it digesting them? I take meds for other issues too.- Having trouble transitioning into maintenance
I can't help you, but, WOW! I can't wait to be in your shoes!- July Sleever's
I wish! If I could get time off of work I'l be there in a second!!!- July Sleever's
Hey all you soon to be sleevers scheduled for July...Anyone scheduled with Dr Aceves around the 10th. I'd love to hear from you and compare notes and share progress!- New Addiction?
I am scheduled for July 10th, and I too, am a bit worried about replacing my "food compulsion" with something more healthful. To help pay for the surgery I sold my ceramic kiln and potters wheel, so I can't fall back on that hobby right away. I have been such a couch potato lately, that I have a fear of exercising. I am a passionate scuba diver and my last trip (which was last week by the way) just reminded me how out of shape I am. My son had to carry my tank and help me out of the water with every dive. I was devastated. I really want to get up and move, but my mind keeps saying "when you lose some weight, then you will feel up to excercising." Its all backwards. I don't fear the post-op diet...I'm prepared for that. I just hope I can get myself off the couch!- Chat Room
And me!! Thanks!- No Regrets
Elisabeth, Thanks for your journal. I also am an RN and work nights. So I was wondering if I would be able to go back to work after one week. I work peds so no heavy lifting anyway. I was glad to hear that you did well at work after only a week. My surgery is July 10 with Dr Aceves and I can't wait!- All liquids
Liquid jello? sounds do-able. Let us know how they are. I think I could handle 3 oz., even if theyre not great. - A New Home - Sleeve People!
