Upset about Friend getting banded who hasnt even tried to lose weight
I have to agree with Jachut on this one. I think it sounds rather mean too! Why wouldn't you be happy for your friend, you obviously know what its like to try and fail something repeatedly so why would you want your friend to go through that as well? Lap band isn't technically the easy way out, it is a tool but it is ALOT easier than doing it alone, and I will argue any day of the week with anyone on that subject. I say be happy that will have someone in your life that will be going through the same thing that you are. I think Jachut and I can honestly say that we would recommend this to anyone who needs it even if they haven't wasted their money on every diet under the sun!

Be careful with sleep aids. PM or Benedryl type stuff!
TKE I forwarded your post to a bariatric doctor here and she said that your trainer is pretty much dead on! Thanks for posting this!

What is this?
I had the same problems caused by being too full. The lump in the throat feeling is caused by your esophogas having to work too hard to try to get food down through the band. Therefor, it causes it to overwork and become inflammed. Anyways, I was told that if this goes on for too long you can stretch your pouch. If you have the YELLOW< GREEN<RED chart those symptoms are located on the RED ZONE.

12 Days Post, Ok to mow my yard?
I would say absolutaly not. I was told nothing over 10lbs for the first 60 days. I am guessing your lawn mower is over 10lbs or are you using a riding lawn mower?

Cool Beans.....I made my doctors website.

Weight loss question
Weight loss varies with each person. The first few months I lost anywhere between 10-20lbs a month and now I am lucky if I lose a couple of lbs a month. It gets harder to lose but it is so much easier to keep it off. As far as being 3 weeks out of surgery, let your body heal and then worry about losing. Patience is a virtue that we are not very good with when we are trying to lose;) it's human nature. Hang in there.

Acid Reflex?
You are lucky that you can wait until morning to "unload". I had the same problem except I was actually waking up with vomit on my pillow and bed. Acid Reflux (GERD) was the cause of my problems. I had to start taking an antacid around 8pm everynight and there can be no eating after that. I also put a small pillow under my chest only about 2 inches thick and slept with my head higher up. This helped for the most part but I recently had .25 taken out of my band and BANG the acid reflux has went down about 80%. What a relief. If you google GERD if will give you some suggestions.

Fabulous February Bandsters check in
Well I was experiencing a whole bunch of symptoms from having too tight of a band but I refused to acknowledge them! So needless to say the last two weeks were rather rough. However, I finally went in and hand a 1/4th of a cc taken out and BANG much better today. It is funny what a little bit added or removed can do for you! Other than that all is well and I hope it is great for the rest of you also!

question about gum
Nean I am pretty sure we all mean "accidentally" swallow gum.
-
Indispensable tools?
Protein shakers with the shaker ball, protein shakes (GNC PROPERFORMANCE), 1/2 cup containers and a tape measure to keep you in check when you think the scale is stuck:)

question about gum
My doctor just said if you swallow your gum to call right away. He doesn't suggest chewing it if you can! I chew gum all the time though.

anyone know if surgery can be done if Aunt "Flo" is visiting??
No that isn't an issue at all! No worries, I am sure they have dealt with way worse!

Tingling port site
I wouldn't worry! I am guessing you just have small nerve that for some reason it is just now started to reconnect and you are feeling the firing sensation of the nerve which causes a tingly feeling. I cut through my nerve in my finger and it took about 5 years to come back! Weird I know!

smoking
Well, I also had no real problems quitting before surgery because i REALLY wanted to have the surgery done and my doctor takes your blood the day before to make sure that you haven't been smoking. Anyways, about 6 months after surgery I started again......uhhh I know right! So I also bought the book mentioned in the post above but haven't gotten around to reading it. I did however, start on Wellbutrin (antidepressant) that I had taken in 06 to stop smoking. It really helps because after a few days of being on it, it changes the way it tastes ALOT! Great side effect is weight loss:) I would look into Chantix and Wellbutrin to see which one might be helpful for you! Best of luck!

How long after surgery till your appetite returned?
I couldn't tell you! I was never lucky enough to have no appetite. I would say just count your blessings and go with it!
-
Hiccups
I hiccup at all different times. It all started after the band. Slight side effect!

Poll: Medical ID Bracelet
I wear a bracelet and refuse to take it off. After the first week I didn't even realize it is there anymore. I never take it off, even when I shower.

Sabatogers / My Boss
I don't mean to be the negative poster but sweetheart that is life! This is something you are going to have to deal with and the person who ultimately makes your decisions is you. If you can't handle hearing about food what on earth are you going to do when it is right infront of you? People aren't necessarily trying to be hurtful its just that alot of social things and conversations revolve around food, if it didn't half of us wouldn't have needed the surgery in the first place. I do wish you much inner strength and courage to be strong, don't let words of others make your tummy grumble!

can you get stuck on protien shakes?
My band is really tight so sometimes if I drink something too fast it doesn't go anywhere. I picture it to be like a small funnel in my stomach and if I pour to fast it will flood over. I wouldn't say you are "stuck" because liquids will eventually pass through but I would pass on the strawberry.

Swings in temperature
I had my surgery over a year ago and I still suffer from being cold ALL the time! I wish I could tell you that it stopped for me but it never has.

Menstruation After Surgery
I had just the opposite happen. I missed mine for the next two months. The same explanation was given that surgery or trauma to the body really messes up your cycle.

Cannot feel port and first fill is in less than a week!
Your doctor is trained to feel your port. They have many tricks moving you around to feel your port. Trust me you will feel it in time.

Feel like I blew it today
You really should read your own post. Would you have eaten this little a few months ago? Just because you ate a piece of Cheesecake doesn't mean you blew anything. It should not become a regular habit but it's really nothing to get worked up about. Life isn't always perfect and neither are we. I am glad you are conscious of your choices but you really are being too hard on yourself.

I'm going to need...
Most plastic surgeons require you make the full payment 2 weeks before the procedure. Insurances are picking up some cost but it is normally only if you have had multiple rashes, your stomach has to hang so low and you have to be pretty far out after reaching your goal.
