  1. I love my body bugg. It has me motivated all over again. It's like it's April, one month after surgery, not 8 months later. I'm moving more and really aware of what I'm eating. I'll have to check out that book. Juli
  2. Your bellybutton looks so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look great! Thanks for sharing the pics! You've got to feel so much better not hauling the belly around.
  3. Mrs H I know I was saying this thread is like a ghost town... I'm glad my words had some impact for you. Woo Hoo! I just want everyone to look down at my ticker. I'm in 3 pounds away from -100! And that's since January first of this year. I'm so starting to chase numbers. I really want to take off those 3 this week! Then the goal is to get under 200 by New Year's day. I find it hard to believe just how much my life has changed. I've got so much to be thankful for this year. Thanksgiving will be filled with all the traditional foods and family, but I'm going to say a prayer of thanks for being able to be in control and healthier than I've been in my entire adult life. I love my band. And thanks you few who still come here to the Marchies thread who are sharing our travels with the band together. I appreciate you all. Juli
  4. I go to the straight forums and haven't been kicked out of those for being queer. I think we can do the same for the straight people who come here. Welcome.
  5. D Let me know if you want a kick in the ass. I'll post some of the stuff I put on the Marchies' board. People asked for ass kickings so I gave it to 'um. It a rather odd thread to be part of, this is home for me, the bycyling thread, but they were my first group on LBT so my peeps as well. It got to where people where crying so much about struggling that I was afraid to post my successes...I know other monthly groups have some good gelling, if it weren't for you all here I'd be jealous of them! Ha.
  6. 1. We absorb our calories. To lose weight the idea is to have a deficit between how many you eat and how many you burn. Excersice burns calories. Bodies are healthier if you exercise them. 2. How much do you want to eat? How quickly do you want to lose? What's your objective? You adjust your exercise as part of that equation. An hour a day most days isn't unreasonable. 3. My exercise program has changed as my abilities have grown and boredom set in. I see me continuing exercising at the same level when I get to maintenannce and increasing the calories. HTH
  7. Thanks for all the props on the weight loss this week. I tell you the bodybugg has me recommitted to the process. I'm amazed. I'm going to work really hard to lose 3 pounds this week. Being that close to -100 is crazy. Especially to have done it (I'm counting my chickens before they are hatched but) in less than a year will be really cool! I feel that if I keep my deficit at 1500 a day I should be able to do it! Thanks again.
  8. TBS, I as a matter of fact, like the butch look on the girls I date. Personally, I find looking too sporty when not being sporty doesn't suit me. I'm a girlly lesbian. Title Nine and Horny Toad are probably too casual for work any way. I'm still plus size but I know I'll be challenged finding fiting, not sleezy clothing when I get smaller. As it is now, I tried on a sweater (2x) at Target and it was skin tight. Like what fat bitch needs to be showing her back fat rolls?! I guess it's cool for young chubby women who want to look stylish. Pushing 40 though, it's just not for me. Really finding pants that fit my odd shaped body is a stuggle. With the belly that needs to be surgically removed but the rest of me getting smaller I'm finding that I'm getting more and more picky. Back at size 30 I was happy to find something that covered me. Now I actually want clothes that feel good too? WTF. J.
  9. ZZ I got my PM and my SS.
  10. BG-you are such a bad bad girl. I'm glad you had a good time. I hit the wine pretty hard yesterday too. I can't say I was hit on by strange men, but I did have a good time. TBS-I hate spending money on clothes but what's a girl to do? We can't work naked. HP-How you doin with all the OT?
  11. I'll be 40 in April! Funny that we are so close in age!
  12. You are one amazing woman.
  13. I don't typically answer these posts because they've been discussed to death on here but today I will. It's my opinon that the surgeries are for very different types of people. The only thing they have in common are that they are surgeries for weight loss and they are done by surgeons who specialize in that part of the body. The lapband is for people who have one last good effort to give to weightloss. Bypass is for people who are just done fighting and want to give the burden over to someone (the surgeon) or something (the process) else. They've run out of steam or they are too far away from being able to take responsibility for their actions. That's not to say that one person is more committed than the other, it's what they are committed to. A successful lapbanded person (successful is the key word) is committed to making life long changes in how they eat AND how they move their bodies. The band gives them a tool to catch their breath, get their footing while they learn to behave and think differently. It also keeps them from falling too far when they break from the weight loss fight. Bypass are commit 100% with their physiology with the hope that their behaviors will change during the 18-24 month window of opportunity. However both can fail and do. I feel it's because the person doesn't want to do the work of rewiring their brains and his or her committment to the process/promise to him or herself of a better way of living is not sincere and life long lasting. So if you were my friend sitting across the table having coffee with me I'd ask you if you had one last fat beat down left in you immediately or if you felt like you couldn't even think about exercising until you got under a certain weight...
  14. Any insomniacs in the house? I'm going to die if I don't get some sleep. The damn time change has me up at 5:40 in the morning and I don't go to sleep easily at night. This is insanity. To boot the GF is a sleep whore. I'm like woohoo let's get up and go to the gym! Let's run here and there... Good thing I have a paper and 4 chapters to read. You know something to keep me busy instead of pestering her. Anyone have fun plans for the weekend?
  15. I'm seeing my honey this weekend too. I'm driving up to MI after work. I can't wait! TGIF!
  16. Putting in the calories really shouldn't be more than a few minutes. It might be a little more cumbersome at first but it does get easier with time. I was using fitday.com and had a bit of learning curve with that program. I find BB's to be about equal.
  17. I'd rather midlessly run around too. On that note, I've got yet another paper to write. Catch you all later.
  18. Mrs H. Here's your butt kicking. Ice-cream and chips make you fat. Eating some some of the time is okay, but eating them with out regard to your weight loss is silly. You had surgery to lose weight, SURGERY! At one point you wanted to get to goal. Go back to that time and remember what drove you seek surgery and why you set the goals that you set. Were you faking the lower number and really just wanted to be under 200? If that's the case your done. Go eat ice-cream. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO (don't hate me) Juli
  19. B Thanks for the link. I forget that I like to read Slate here and there.
  20. Morning everyone! TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HP, Yeah OT!!! Can you walk during break time or anything like that? Sucks about not being able to exercise. Load up on the weekends? B, I know what you mean about being pissed by burning fewer calories than you thought. However, it makes me get up and move more.
  21. your not you're...damn edit sucks. B How's the bugg for you???????????
  22. BG That's an awesome challenge to set up for yourself. Woo Hoo! You're Bodybugg will give you great rewards for that kind of effort. Go-Stacy, Go-Stacy! :cheer2:
  23. Jeni, Here are some tough-love words. Are you happy with your weight where it is? You are down quite a few pounds. Are you content to stay where you are? Statistically most people only lose 40-60% of their excess weight with the band. Do you want to be part of that average or do you want to more successful than average? If you're taking a break have a real plan for its end time. Know that we are getting into the hardest time of year for people to maintain, let alone not gain weight with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year pending. Is this the time to get lazy? Are you going to let the cold keep you on your butt until March, because it's just starting and that's a long time to wait to move. So, yeah, I got blah and then I got serious. I didn't have this surgery to be half assed about it. Yes, taking a break is important to keep form getting burned out, but don't let the weather determine if you sit out on life or not. Much love and hugs.
  24. Well, uck, that your husband isn't with you. Yeah, eating is easier. Uck you got hurt in Iraq. Yeah and thanks for what you did to serve our country. Uck you are in TX, (Sorry Step and Brandon) Yeah you can bike now, it's too cold up here in Ohio/Mich country unless you're a serious biker. Uck about the job hunt. It's a sad state of affairs because fat doesn't equal dumb or unmotivated but employers do look at it like that. Bastards. Thanks for sharing your story.
  25. I'm happy to make your day! It's good to see you are doing great! :bounce:
