  1. Great blog, you really helped me think about fill #3. I have had 2 fills and don't feel much restriction unless I don't chew enough and then I get some pain, but it goes away within a couple of minutes. I was reading my paperwork and it said I could go in every 2-4 weeks but when I called the office, they said that was old information and they usually will give a fill every 4 weeks, but that my next appt isn't until Nov 8th, so they would let me come in next week for fill #3. I'm going to pay close attention to this one since I'm at 4.5 ccs now. I want restriction but don't want to have reflux or be on any new meds, I'm on enough still already! Good luck finding your sweet spot, hopefully, I'll be at mine in another few weeks!

  2. I would only recommend having a good support system at home too. With two young children, you are going to be out of commission for a couple of days and then still be recovering for a couple of weeks. My kids are now 7 & 9 so they are more self sufficient when they need something. With that being said, I don't regret for one minute having the surgery done! Like you, other diets have worked but not for the long term. I'm so happy to have found Lapband!

  3. Congratulations! I was scared and nervous and second guessed myself the days before surgery, almost like "why did it have to come to this?" and "what if I tried this diet instead?"...but there is a reason that you went through the lapband approval process to get you where you are today. Like so many of us, those other diets don't work for us! :)

The first day will be okay, the second to fifth days will be harder, everyone is right, walk, walk walk...it's just gas pain...and I did take Gas X strips and they worked great! By the end of the first week, you will be so happy that you made this decision to be healthier! I had my surgery on 8/11 and with the preop diet and lapband, I have already lost 32lbs! I look better, I feel better and I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in years! You will be thrilled with your decision! Good luck!

  4. Congratulations!!! I'm in Bandster hell right now, so glad you are not! I'm sure I'm going to come out of it, I'm thinking it may be because 4 days ago I switched from my EAS shakes which are 17 grams of protein to Slimfast (just for a change) and they have 10 grams of protein. My fault, I should have looked at the label more before buying them! I'm soooo hungry!

  5. Oh, quick question for you...you lost shoe sizes? My friends and I were just laughing at my feet because they are a size 6 but I have to wear a 7.5 because they are wide, will I lose weight in my feet? Their feet are all like 9 & 10 and so compared to mine, it's really funny side by side. They were wondering how my feet even hold my body up! LOL!

  6. Sooo funny, I did the same thing today! I packed up all of the clothes that I wanted to donate, those that I wanted to give to friends and I kept the pricier ones "just in case". Because I don't want to have to go buy a new wardrobe if this doesn't work...and I'm right at the weight that my diets stop working and I start sabbotaging myself. I think it makes sense! Today I am wearing a shirt I haven't worn in 4 years and my shorts are almost falling off of me, I can actually take them off without unbuttoning and unzipping...but they are still my favs!

  7. "I have to remind myself, "this weight didn't get put on overnight and it certainly won't just disappear overnight."

I think we all have to remind ourselves of that. We all know it's a tool and we need to do the work, but so many of us expect the band to do all of the work. Thanks for reminding me this morning! You just stopped me from feeling guilty and today is a new day!

  8. Oh, I feel your pain! I had my surgery last week and came home 5.5lbs more than when I went in. It started coming off this week and I've lost more on top of it. Just keep doing what you are doing, it will come off, and yes...once I was able to go to the bathroom it really helped!

  9. Congratulations on the weight loss! I enjoyed reading your blog and even though I'm only 8 days post op, you gave me a lot to think about with slowing the eating down. I have my first fill on the 30th, and looking forward to getting to fill #3! I bet if you asked, your doctor would let you come in and get weighed if you are in that area. I did this with my pre-op because I wanted to compare my home scale to my doctor's scale, which ended up being 3lbs different!

  10. I am banded, but no fill yet. Just soft foods. I peeled and baked and mashed them, so they were very soft and went down easily. Good to know though, I'll watch for this after I have a fill. Mashed sweet potato was on my list of soft foods.

  11. I can't wait to have no boobies! I have always been more self conscience about them than my weight and if they weren't there, I would look MUCH smaller than I do. When I lost 50 lbs a few years back, my friends were shocked at how small my waist was compared to my large breasts! I hate them...

  12. I have to tell you, I was so glad a couple of my mom friends were at practice tonight. When I said I was walking, a couple of them went to their cars and grabbed their sneakers too! We walked a mile around the track, which it was really hot and humid tonight, so that was quite enough. About 5 or 6 other moms commented that they are bringing their sneakers tomorrow night for practice. We will be at practice 4 nights a week, so we have created a walking club! The men all thought we were nuts, but they are there to watch the football, we all all there to socialize and give them their drinks!
