  1. :grouphug: DO THE DANCE!! :welldoneclap:
  2. You need a GROUP HUG!! :grouphug: :welldoneclap: Good Luck! :smile2:
  3. My first thought was anxiety also. Especially when you said it was your first workout. That would cause anxiety every time to me! LOL When you start feeling a tightness in your chest, cant breath, and your heart rate is going crazy, remember to BREATH and think of your HAPPY PLACE! LOL Basically breath and calm down, think of things that are not stressful. Things like... Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens; Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens; Brown paper packages tied up with strings; These are a few of my favorite things. Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels; Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles; Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings; These are a few of my favorite things. Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes; Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes; Silver-white winters that melt into springs; These are a few of my favorite things. When the dog bites, When the bee stings, When I'm feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don't feel so bad. LOL!! Hope that helps ALL!! :scared2:
  4. Y'all are so inspiring! I can't wait to have your problem of a size 16!! LOL :scared2:
  5. I was totally going to send you a personal note to go to julie.ann 's blog. I read it a few months ago and copied in my email for future use after I get the band. Check it out.
  6. My insurance lady at my surgeons office said it will take a week or so. and said that Aetna is "really good" at approving quickly. Good Luck! I am anxious for you.
  7. I agree. Hope you didn't think that I was sticking to what my doctor's goal was for me. I was just answering the question as to who and how my goal was made for the records. I do recall writing in my journal that night when I got his goal for me. I said something to the effect that I hope I don't play mind games with myself thinking that I have to stop at his goal. Mine is lower to a weight (or a look) like when I was 16. But I'm afraid the "look" will be a bit different 23 years later, after 4 kids, and flabby skin from 125 lbs of stretch and release. LOL
  8. LMAO!! OMG!! That was FUNNY!!!!
  9. I think my doc calculated 70% of the amount of my excess weight. Stating that "most" people don't reach what the charts say is their "ideal" weight. Some docs say you will only lose 50% of the excess weight. And of course here you see some people reach and exceed their "ideal" weight. I think it depends on how long you have been overweight, age, I don't know. I, of course have my own goals beyond my docs. Anyway, hope that helps.
  10. I can only tell you what my BFF told me and that was..."Don't give up! Keep doing whatever you have to do to have the surgery. No matter what." I have set myself back 5 weeks thus far cuz I started my exercise program 2 weeks late, then my car was out of commission for 2 weeks, then I found out I only have to go once a week for insurance instead of the 2 I was doing of supervised exercise so I skipped Tue and then we had a blizzard on Thur. So another week went by. If that's not bad enough the money I saved from tax returns for my surgery I have had to use since I have been unable to find a job for 2 months. GRRRRR!!!!!! Sorry, didn't mean to take away from your frustrations. Jumping thru the hoops is a means of perseverence. If we really want it we will persevere!! Ooo, that sounds like a good phrase to put in my signature! LOL :w00t: Good Luck! You will PERSEVERE!!
  11. :blush:Thanks everyone! I am one who is trying to stay in denial about needing the cpap. I have to do the test again with the cpap but had to cancel once cuz of money issues. :frown: And still havent done it--tho the money issue is still there I am more convinced after reading here that I need to do it. I am at the point that I hate going to bed at night cuz I toss and turn all night, and unlike the people who don't dream I have extremely WEIRD dreams. :bored: It's time for bed now and I'm dreading going eventho I love my comffy bed. :w00t: And morning takes too long to get here but then I don't wanna get up. My kids say I have "goldfish brain"--3 second memory. And I feel stupid and foggy all the time. :tongue_smilie: What do ya think--do I really need it??
  12. Presence of severe obesity that has persisted for at least the last 2 years, defined as any of the following: Body mass index (BMI)* exceeding 40; or BMI* greater than 35 in conjunction with any of the following severe co-morbidities: On Aetna's requirements it says BMI exceeding 40 OR co-morbidities. You have a BMI of 50 and atleast 2 years proof over 40 BMI then you do NOT need a co-morbidity. Co-morbs help but not necessary. You do not need to worry, you qualify. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
  13. I haven't got the cpap yet--if you don't have it there's nothing wrong with you?! My question is--When you first got it what changes did you have besides for a goodnight sleep? :crying: --brain function? --memory? --weight loss? --energy? --etc?
  14. Your BMI is above 40. You don't need comorbidities. It helps, but not required. Just re-read your post about the previous 2 years and BMI 35-37. If you have high blood pressure that's it for the comorb. Do you have depression? That can be one also. Don't worry--be happy! I've heard that even if they do deny you just keep submitting, they just want to see that you really want it. Look thru the forums, go far back if you have to. Many people have talked about it. That was actually how I found this forum--looking for a convo about it. Don't worry.
  15. That is SO AWESOME!!!! I have tears!! I cannot tell you how much I needed to see your post. I still have a few months to be banded and am very frustrated with life, money and weightloss--and lack there of on all accounts. lol Your one post will help more than you know to inspire me to keep moving forward. I am so PROUD OF YOU! Good job!!
  16. Hello :w00t: Hypertension is a comorbidity--even if on meds. You should be fine qualifying. Don't worry. Aetna has a lot of hoops to jump thru, have u seen the requirements? U can find it on aetna.com somewhere, or google aetna, obesity surgery. It's also on here somewhere on the insurence forum. Most people do the 6 month program, but I'm trying to do the 3 month multi-disapplainary (which it ending up to be 4 months for me cuz I missed some exercise classes and I started late--love that exercise!! :tt1:). Talk to the insurence person at the surgeons office, she should be able to tell you exactly what to do. OH, also make sure the surgeon is in network. Good luck!

    That's Cute!
  18. Do you feel better now Ben? So now put it in a small coffin and bury it, never to be seen again. Or dig a hole and set it on fire. You could make a list of all the people that have made you feel this way and then set that one fire. No, wait, PEE ON IT FIRST! LOL You are on your way to show them up! On to other obstacles. For me, I fear being angry (when I'm skinny) at the people who treat me nice when I know they wouldn't give me the time of day when I was big. Or getting that promotion that I should have gotten years ago but didn't "fit" the image--I just don't have the look! Will I really want the promotion then?? Don't worry, Ben, we will have plenty of times for verbal vomit as we get smaller and smaller. Not to be a downer, but we all have to bitch once in a while, especially when it's in a safe place like here.
  19. Dude! You need to eat more! Add an egg or two to your shakes, you can use the real thing or get the boxes of liquid egg whites at the store. Get some egg drop Soup. Look more through the forums, there are plenty of threads on this subject. I don't know what lortab is, but you need your Vitamins too, try Flintstones chewables. And Iron may help as you may have lost alot of blood in surgery. Good luck! Hope you feel better real soon!
  20. Do you guys remember your first bra?? Ya know how you couldn't wait to get boobs to fill it out so you stuffed it?? (Except me, I went strait to the real thing!) So this topic of being sick of liquids reminds me of the first bras. LOL  Do you also remember when you couldn't wait to start the liquid diet cuz that meant you were about to start a new life?? I guess the NOVELTY of it has worn off. LOL  So I don't get banded until the end of May/beginning of June and I can't wait to be on the liquid diet!! I am very happy to know that my doc only requires 2 or 3 days of it before unless you have not dropped the weight he wants (for me only 13 lbs). But I am happy to read your posts to be aware of the dreaded post-op liquid diet.
  21. RestlessMonkey is right on the money with the nutrition making a difference on your hair. Not knowing what you were using b4 Head and Shoulders and without seeing and feeling your hair makes it harder to give the best advice as to what to use. First, you say you have "dandruff". Well, most people think that white flakes are dandruff cuz the commercials steer you that way. Well it's not. True dandruff is big, yellowy, chunks and it smells. Little white flake is dry scalp, which is mostlikely what you have. What you need is a good Professional moisturizing shampoo AND conditioner. If you can 'hear' your hair scratchin together and can pretty much snap off the ends then you have too much Protein (not to be confused w protein in your diet). Therefore, you would need to add a little shampoo w protein--but too much will be revert back to braking off so you have to be very carefull. If your hair feels very conditioned then all of a sudden breaks off again--then youve over done it and need to back off and use moisture and oil more. Your hair is made up of moisture, protein and essential fatty acids (oil-which gives you elasticity). You need all to have heathly hair--so not just one kind of shampoo and conditioner. Just like we need protein, carbs, fat, and Water in our diet. On the chance that you were using a professional product you need to get one the other ellements to balance it out and alternate days. Don't forget the importance of 'clarifying' (stripping) your hair every few weeks every type of product will build up on your hair, but store bought products contain ALOT of wax as fillers so its not as pure of the ellements that you want. I do not think your hair falling out it cuz of the band, but might very well be your nutrition. Your blood supply makes your hair grow. So in a sence what you eat ends up on your hair. I know this is a lot. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope this helps all.
  22. I am a hairstylist so I baby my hands and wrists (therefore they are weak), so I am just curious if my hands hurt and are swollen because the muscles in my hands and wrists are not use to weights and repetition of the moving handles on machines, or if I sprained my wrists/hands due to the repetition? I'm hoping is just like working any muscle too hard too soon, cuz I'm ready to go stagnant with my hands again. I will ice them now. But let me know how not to make them hurt next time I workout.
  23. That is a great idea to write something! The nurses have an on-going pool to see who can get the surgeon to laugh cuz he's just a little bit on the OMG serious side. I will have to conspire with them if I decide to write something. LOL Good Luck Dr. Suess!
  24. I was told they go off my BMI from when I first started the 3/6 month diet. But that's my doc and insurance. I'd call the insurance person at your surgeons office, she would know best what your insurance expects. Good Luck.
