Mushy vs. Pureed
U can make any food into pureed--from what I'v learned on here. just add some liquid of choice--no Vodka lol--to make it the right consistency. There are lots of threads on this subject. sorry that's all i know for now. Good Luck and Congrats on being banded.

Had surgery yesterday (Friday)--in a great deal of pain--is this normal?
Aaaa...U did just have major surgery!! It is very normal. And having a baby is not as bad. Everyone handles pain differently, since you haven't had kids maybe learning to breathe thru the pain is out at this point. LOL Get a hot pad, big supporting pillow for your tummy and the remote control and BREATHE! I do the in-2-3-4 out-2-3-4 method to try to relax. Ur body just went thru trama and your muscles are a wreck from surgery and tightening up from ur stress. Relax! You'll be fine!! :tt1:

Itching question, and mushy food...
I wouldn't worry about the band slipping--it is very hard to do that. BUT I would worry about the "rings". Personally I'd go to Urgent Care or the Emergency room.

Aetna- 3 Month Multi-Disciplinary Program (surgical prep)
I am with you Linda and Boo--I have 135 to lose also. I wish I didn't have the exercise part to do otherwise I'd be done now!!! I started 2 weeks late and missed 3 weeks in March. So that puts me back to having to wait till June for surgery! Besides for blood tests which will only take a minute to do and getting my the sleep test done again but with the CPAP machine I am completely done with all insurance requirements. I wish I knew how you're getting around not having to do it.

Aetna- 3 Month Multi-Disciplinary Program (surgical prep)
Hello! I am also doing the Aetna 3 month multi-dis. And I DO have to do the exercise. I have to do mine at the Cardiac Rehab, they have a community program here. My insurance lady said I couldn't do just the gym or curves cuz of the "physician supervised". I would call Aetna directly or have your lady clarify why you don't cuz you don't want to do 3 months of everything else then find out. Or just do it anyway to cover your butt. Good Luck!!

I gotta ask about sex?
Hey! I saw a sex therapist on a thread sumwhere. She mite still be around--ask her.

I gotta ask about sex?
IDK. I'm just curious about post op depression? That can cause that problem. Try to reassure her of your love in other ways. I know my husband's 'actions of love' are mainly in the bed and he's not got at the verbal and throughout the day actions of love. Good luck, it will pass.

New to site with questions and help
And, yes, most everyone has to do the psych eval. They just want to see if you can handle the changes that are to come. We all have past issues that have contributed to our weight problem but they want to know if they will continue to hinder our efforts after surgery.

Why are people so MEAN???

Keep on paddling and stop drifting in the water....
Woo Hoo!! 90 lbs?! last I heard it was 80! I am so proud of you!! You know it is a day to day process and there are temptations every day. You have been doing great and it happens once in a while that we drift away--we are still human. There is no strait line to the end we are constantly on a detour and having to redirect our path. You are the Bomb, you are doing AWESOME, and I know that you will reach an island soon, the mainland isn't too far off!!

stress test
I wish mine was done chemically!! I had to do the treadmill. By the end (and when I could finally get my breath to talk) I told them I didn't like them very much! LOL But it was all good. YUCKY tho.

a thread that had me thinking....
I did not read the post from last week but I agree with what you said. My pre-op hoops that I am jumping thru have really helped me learn a way of doing things for the long hull instead of a quick fix. And I do agree that for those who have more that 200 (just picking a high number--can vary) and for immediate health reasons then by-pass may be a better choice. Of course, the choice is ultimately our own, but I believe in the band over the by-pass cuz of the lessons learned and lesser side effects or complications.

Help! Weight GAIN 2nd week post op!
I agree with loke. Also you could need a really good POOPl LOL:lol: You know how weight fluctuates and from what I hear post op is for healing not weight loss. Can't give much words of wisdom when my head play games with the numbers on the scale and last time I gained 2 lbs I was so mad I didn't workout and went and ate very high calorie cookies:blush:--not suggested. But just heal and chill, you will lose soon when you are better.:cool2:

I made it back to onederland! And this time i'm staying!!

Port Area Bleeding?
I'd go in if he hasn't seen it. I talked to a doc over the phone once about my son, questioning if he had RSV and the doc said not unless he had certain symptoms--which he never had. My son almost died! Well, he did several times and was brought back. So if it is really worrying you like it sounds like, I'd go in.

Psych Eval....
Every dr does them differently. Mine had a 700 question bubble test. when he ran it thru the computer it told him what kind of questions to ask me, and how many. The doc talked to me for like a half and hour or less. They just want to make sure you know what you are getting into, make sure you can handle the changes, and identify posible past issues that would hinder your weight loss. It's really no big deal. Mine passed me. My BFF has to do one or two counseling sessions due to her husbands alcohalism. No big deal. Just takes time--like 3 hours.

Classical Singing/Opera
I have sang all my life. Losing weigh will not affect your voice. Like Bethany said you will find that you have alot more breath support as your body doesn't have to support all the fat. lol Of couse exercise helps that. Don't worry--be happy!!

Mind Games with the Scale!!
Does anyone else play serious mind games with the scale?? I am FINALLY on track with workin the diet that is expected after surgery and sure I'm losing. I want to look at the scale but a few weeks ago I did and gain like 2 pounds--I did just eat lunch but... So instead of working out like I had planned I got mad and ate cookies. But that's not just it. Last time I noticed I lost weight my mind tells me "Cool!! Let's eat to celebrate!" DAMN SCALE!!! I used the ketostix and it was nice and purple so I know I'm losing. Curiousity is starting to get to me. I see my dietician on friday so I will wait till then for now but in the future.....?

Hair Loss
Nioxin is expensive but some people say it works, but you have to continue using it for more than just one bottle.
