  1. I think that's called 'sliming'. It's almost like when you're about to throw up and your mouth gets all watery. The saliva is trying to water down the food to get it down. I'm thinking you might want to stop BEFORE you drool. lol
  2. First, that is my favorite verse!! Obviously I was just banded but while traveling thru this journey on this site I have notice some people say that they measure anywhere from 1/4 cup to 3/4 cups. Sometimes more but stating that if you can eat 1 1/2 cups you need a fill. IDK if that helps but I saw no one had responded yet so maybe this will go back to the top and peeps will write. Welcome to banders hell.
  3. I didn't have to stay over night but had to bring a few things in case. like my cpap and a book and crossword puzzle. I didn't bring any toiletries and I wore my pjs there so I didn't have to bring clothes. I did bring a pillow for the ride home. And YES, bring the chapstick your mouth will be so dry and it helps. Travel lite was the key for me. Your brain will be a little like mush after so it's easier not to have alot to mess with. Good Luck!
  4. Yea!!! I can't wait to know what that is like!
  5. I was banded 6/11 (2 days ago) and I slept half on my stomach with a pillow tucked under me. I was so happy it felt fine cuz I sleep better on my tummy. For me the only thing the was a little ruff was actually getting in the position but then I stayed there for hours. Good luck.
  6. I have heard that you can use a hot plate like one for coffee cups, that way it stays warm. I haven't gotten one yet but I guess I am use to eating cold food cuz I am the last to eat at home.
  7. Thank you Corliss! And with what I quoted from you you hit right on the head. Some times I irritate myself cuz I can be obnoxious. My moto usually is "as long as I laugh", you know when you get the crickets cuz people don't know what to say cuz they are too shocked. So it would be nice to not have to be the shocking one. Thanks again.
  8. Don't sweat it! I was banded yesterday, I went shopping the day before for juice, Jello, popsycles, and pudding, I already had on hand the Soup and broth (which I don't like so I use the broth out of Soups and make my daughter eat the solid parts. I wore my pjs (sweats and a big shirt I use for pjs) to the hospital. I figure why bring extra clothes if it was day surgery and even if I had to spend the night who cares what you're wearing. I brought my pillows and cpap machine, and some books and crossword puzzles, all of which I didn't need but the pillow for the ride home. Travel light was the key to me. Don't panick. It's awesome they moved it up!!
  9. OMG you guys!!! I just had surgery so stop making me laugh!!! It hurts to laugh. I can not wait to do that to a few people.
  10. Hey Jill!! I thought of you yesterday as well. I almost called you last night but I was fading fast. For some reason I thought you had it the same day as me. Good luck!! It's really not that bad. I will call you tomorrow (sat).
  11. ME TOO! ME TOO! Finally in BANDLAND!!!! And yes the pain is NOTHING like I thought it would be, just the port area and the gas--not much but enuf to be uncomfortable. Oh yeah and my mouth is so dry and throat is like that last few days of a cold--alittle scratch and flemmy. Before surgery I felt fine until the anestigiologist (sp?) came in then had to sign the dreaded paper that if I DIED... Then he gave me some drugs saying it would relax me and take the edge off the anxiety, I didn't know it would knock me out!! Then I woke up in recovery and they let me sleep and wake up on my own. Which was very nice and weird cuz I could hear everything everyone was saying but couldn't wake up. I just stayed there praising God that I woke up and was not in any pain. I am still so surprised that it's not bad at all!!

  13. Well I got so close! I made it to 253 this morning! I can be happy with that. Surgery is at 1:45 this afternoon. It is amazing the flow is mixed emotions before surgery. That is all I'll say about that. Happy Band-day, Gizmo!! And may I never feed you after midnight!!! lol
  14. I had psoriasis years ago until I found a product that works for me. The main ingredient is Coal Tar. It is basically the sludge on the bottom the the Dead Sea. They have a psoriasis clinic at the Dead Sea. That is in Neutragina TGel, and at beauty supply stores like Sally's, they have 2 shampoos that have it in it. If you live in Texas TGF Good Hair has Coal Tar shampoo. That and a sister salon are the ONLY salons that I know of that sell coal tar. If you go to a salon they will steer you to Tea Tree--that does NOT work. I am a hairstylist and I am so sad the coal tar is not sold in salons. Now this was years ago that I got it so IDK if it is still sold there. Good Luck!!
  15. If anyone has to do the bowel prep the day before surgery just letting you know it is absolutely NASTY!!! I added Crystal Lite to it and I had to eat a cracker to get the taste out of my mouth. Now it is 2 liters of nastiness and you have to drink a cup every 10 min. It took my 3 1/2 hours!!!! cuz i just couldn't make myself drink it without wanting to puke! at those times I really contemplated the neccessity of this surgery! I think the pain tomorrow will be nothing!! Of course that is all my perspective at the present moment. :ihih:
  16. Ok, my surgery is in 2 days. I have been pondering why I'm not scared like everyone else, I'm excited and at peace about it. Then I realized a few minutes ago that thru the years in emergency/serious type situations God fills me with this strange strength to get thru it. i.e. car accidents, deaths, almost dying child, etc. But it seems to be after that I fall apart. The past week I have been trying to think of/anticipate any psychological or emotional issue that may arrise. And I think I might have just pin-pointed a big one. I struggle with depression so I am well aware of the post-surgery depression (add to that PMS!!), and I have pondered the let down after surgery of 'what now?', since I have worked several months to get the this point and it will be done (for the jumpin thru the hoops part) after surgery. But today I have been realizing that I have this unrealistic dream floating around that my whole life will change for the better after I am skinny. Where the heck did I get that thought?? Do skinny people get treated better? Will I? I do know skinny people get better tips, so will I when I lose the weight? Will I really be comfortable going outside without feeling everyone is staring at the fat girl? Or will I not mind to be stared at cuz I'll be one sexy Spud?? Will my husband be apart of this unrealistic fantacy of mine (too late! he already flunked the mariage fantacy)? Or will I find some other sexy stud to be with this sexy Spud?? LOL Just puttin my thoughts out there, I'm sure if I've thought of it someone else has to, so you're not alone. :cursing: Now I have to copy and paste this to my journal since I shoulda put it in there. But thanks for playin.
  17. Hello, my only comment is that you need to research just a bit more about the band. I'm not sure that you were fully informed before you got it as to what to expect after getting your band and how to deal with difficult situations like.....FOOD! (Which we all have a difficult time with or we would not be here.) Good Luck. Learn what you can and work WITH your band, it wont do all the work for you.
  18. Hello!! I did not know we had another June 2009 Surgery thread. I always go to the one in the June forum. Glad to see some new names. My Gizmo (my band's name) will arrive on June 11th. I am finally getting excited and am trying hard to stop having my last supperssss. lol I do think I am done. Pancakes and eggs this morning but that's IT!! I only have 2 days pre-op diet, one mushies and one liquid. I am having more anxiety about my pre-op drs appt the day before then the surgery. For some reason they are gonna check out my headlights and my exhaust pipe (lol). Don't have a clue what both those places have to do with this surgery, but not too happy thay someone other than my husband and PCP are checking them out!! Toolman, I am wondering how you are doing??
  19. Bandlandia!! YEA!!! Congrats!! I hear the swollen stomach is normal, it's just the gas they filled you up with.
  20. YEA! Your in Bandland! :w00t: lol Hope they get you stable soon. Remember to breathe! In, 2, 3, 4, out, 2, 3, 4...lol  And that SUCKS that you started your period! That is my fear. I'm suppose to start the day of surgery. Hopefully I'll just spot a bit that I won't have to worry about it while in surgery. Soon you wont even remember all this cuz you'll be reaping the rewards of the band!
  21. Holy Cow!! Good Job Breanna!!
  22. So my original goal was to be at 250 on surgery day (even if butt naked!). So if I have basically 4 1/2 days until surgery I could loose 10 lbs?! My problem is that I don't HAVE to do the pre-op but for 2 days--mushies on Tuesday and liquids on Wednesday. I have good intentions of doing the liquid diet, I try to start it then get hungry and tell myselt that I don't have to do it right now. But I would LOVE to meet my goal for Thursday. I am starting a colon cleanse today, that helped me get to the 255 for my last doc appt. (we wont tell anyone that I gained back 5 from my many 'last suppers'. ) I'll let you know if I make it to goal for surgery day. :blushing:
  23. OMG! I am there with you all!! My 19 yr old is perfect! (he's at Boston College so he's never here.) My 14 yr old daughter?? OMG she is driving me CRAZY!! I am mostly a single mom (married but single--better married seperately! lol) Some times she is the best in the world and very helpfull with my 3 and 4 yr olds, but then I wonder what the heck happened?!! I made the mistake of being her friend and it's hard to get the mom respect back. And since I'm complaining I can't leave out the little ones. They are boys--is that all I need to say? Very active, LOUD, play fighting all the time so they get in trouble at daycare for being too rough, and in less than a minute they can trash the house!! Of which I have given up cleaning and attempt to use it as punishment for my daughter but I can argue with her point of "why clean it, they are just going to make another mess when I'm done if not while I'm cleaning up". Phew!! I feel better now, thanks!
  24. I, too, am VERY open about it. I feel (and have noticed) that people need to be educated. Most everyone I talk to I have to explain the difference between LB and RNY. When I explain that I still have to do all the work that it just helps me not eat too much then they seem to understand. Yesterday I talked to a 72 yr old woman who is now looking into having it done at my surgeons (wish I got free fills or sumthin for that. lol). I do, however, tend to tell large people more that thin people, so I guess I choose who I want to educate. AND I have not told anyone in my family cuz I do know how judgmental they are and feel may sister may be more willing to look into it if she sees my success first.
  25. Find an inexpensive fill Dr quick!! Google it. Ask around. U have enuf life issues to cause depression, this is just one more you don't need and can control a bit with a fill. Think of it as for your emotional health as much as physical health. The amount of a fill will be a pin prick in the grand scheme of things. Good Luck!
