Question on Routine Follow Ups with surgeon
I would say every 6 months would be good. In my case, I pop in from time to time to weight on their scale too.

Two days post op (banded 3rd Oct)
Good for you. YOu will love being banded. Good luck.

Aaargh
Will, I don't blame you for being anxious. It took me a out 8-10 months to get good restriction. Thankfully I was still able to lose 1 lb per week. I woud bug them until they cave in. My doctor only makes you wait 1-2 weeks in between fills. Good luck.

Am I in denial?
That is fabulous. Enjoy not being hungry while you can. It may reappear later. Good luck.

Big Medicine Last Night
How sad is that. Poor thing.

Do we have to sip forever?
With good restriction you can definitley feel the liquids passing. Sometimes you even hear a gurgling sound.
-
how long to wait
My doctor allowed me another fill within a week. It depends on what your surgeon recommends. Some make you wait 2 weeks. Good luck.
-
Should I Have Another Fill?
if you can eat 2 cups of foods you definitely need a fill. Good restriction will only allow you 1/4 cup of food. Good luck.

fill again
Yes, this happened to me. I couldn't hold down solids. My surgeon said that sometimes the stomach wall thickens and give more pressure on the band, thus tightening it. My only remedy was a slight unfill. Good luck.

Question on frequency after one year
I had at least 5 fills my first year. If my surgeon gave me the choice of a year of fills or $250 out of pocket I would have chosen the one with a year follow up. It is really expensive. My fills were $200 each and $200 forever.
-
stopped losing
It is quite common to gain weight once you move to mushies or solids. I gained 7 lbs in between my fills but took it off fairly quickly once I got restriction. You are in the healing phase right now so don't worry too much about it. Good luck.

having a little doubt
Andrea, the weight loss will definitely be slower with the band. Given that, I do see people gain weight with the bypass. If you can be patient you can take all your weight off with the band. It may take you a couple years.. Good luck with your decision.

Do we have to sip forever?
PB stands for productive burp. It is just like vomitting. The water gets stuck in the stoma and there is one way out and that is through vomitting it up. It can happen. Usually it occurs when you are tight and can't gulp water. You'll know.
-
Do we have to sip forever?
When you don't have good restriction it is easy to gulp. Otherwise, heed caution. You can definitely PB.

I want to look like this again or smaller...
Totally atainable. You can do it.

Help! I think my band has slipped!
I agree with Wheetsin. YOu need a fill. YOu would be vomitting if your band slipped.

I have to break-up with my lover!
I actually mourned the loss of food. That is quite natural.

Where is your port?
Mine is on the left side right around the waist line. No problems here.

Slow Loser
I am considered a slow loser at 1-2 lbs per week. Basically that is average. I'm down about 60 lbs in 15 months. Just stay focused. It will take you longer but you will still get there!

Really embarassed to say this...
Be very careful. Crackers turn into mushy so you are probably okay. But my doctor chewed me out big time when I told him I had eaten after surgery. You can rip out your stitches. Stick to creamy soups that seems to do the trick for me.

Sipping through a straw
Caramel, I can sip through a straw very well. No problems here.

Nausea question
Yes, it has happend to me. I brought it back up to my doctor just last week. He suggested I buy some Prilosec. It worked. I would try that first. YOu can take it once a day and it stays with you 24 hours.
