  1. Karen, I would slow down if I were you. That way you can feel full when you are 1/2 way done. I really think eating 30 minutes is too long. I would say 15.
  2. I can't say that I drink 10 drinks a day but I would consider myself a heavy drinker. Often times, I can drink a few beers and take quite a few tequila shots. I don't get any more buzzed with my weight loss. The downside is slower weight loss. I lose 1 lb a week. I probably would be at goal if I didn't drink so much. I've lost 65 lbs in 16 months. Just be aware of the downsize. Drinking is fine in moderation. Maybe you could cut your drinking in 1/2. That would be good. Good luck with your decision.
  3. My fills and unfills are $200 each. No a nurse just can't do it unless they have special training.
  4. Lynn, I wouldn't be able to eat more than 2 chicken nuggets. You probably need a fill. Good luck.
  5. My funniest eating out experience is when I PBd right at the table back into my clam chowder! I was so happy no one in the restraunt saw me.
  6. Yes .1 or .2 can make a huge difference. I just went from 3.2 to 3 and I can totally feel the difference. You may just need .1 taken out.
  7. For me personally I can only eat about 1/3 of a sandwich. You may need a slight adjustment.
  8. Leena, use a numbing agent for sure moving forward.
  9. I can only share with you my experience. With good restriction I can only consum 1/4 cup of food. Yes, 1/4 cup. I spoke to my doctor about it yesterday and he agreed that was the right amount with good restriction. I have a protein shake in the a.m. so that helps a lot. I would reconsider you fill level until you have good restriction. However, if you are losing 1-2 lbs a week you may want to reconsider. I don't have any hunger at all. I have heard 7 ccs in a 10cc band before. Go until you feel satisfied. Good luck.
  10. Jen, it sounds like you are only able to eat junk. Is that correct? You shoul be able to eat lean protein. I can only eat a few bites as well with good restriction. I would mix your diet up a bit since you have such a hard time with solids. I would drink a protein shake for breakfast, followed but some more protein in a soft form like cottage cheese or yogurt. You should be able to get in 1-2 oz of solid protein at dinner. Keep your calories to 800-1000 no more than 1200 calories a day. You will lose.
  11. Hi, I live in Gilroy, CA. I've been banded 16 months and I'm down 65 lbs and 21 lbs to goal. Good luck.
  12. Run into the doctor after your 6 week check up and get a fill. That will help a little bit. In the meantime, you may want to make sure or bring vegies with Ranch dressing with you or something healthy. It may be difficult if you don't have restriction.
  13. I don't watch fats at all. I concentrate on protein. The only fat I have is in milk or my protein shakes as well as meats.
  14. I don't regret it at all. Its been the easiest weight loss to date. That being said, I wish I had committed more to not drinking alcohol and exercising more early on. I'm down 65 lbs in 16 months. I 'm sure I would be at goal already if I had done those things. Good luck.
  15. Dr. McKeen in San Jose, CA takes Mexico patients. He charges me $200 a fill. Not sure how much under fluoro. He is wonderful!
  16. It will help when you get your fill. Keep going back until you have good restriction. It took me 5 fills. Good luck.
  17. I got heartburn after my last fill. He had me on Prilosec, but after all that I had to have a .2 unfill. Good luck.
  18. Alfie, you will be surprised as to how much food you actually will eat while being banded. Sometimes I get full on just a few bites.
  19. Lauren, that was sure quick! Good for you girl. Way to go.
  20. Jamie, milk is really good for you. Try and stay on as many protein shakes as you can. You will get your protein in for sure if you do that.
  21. cup of food at a time. My doctor confirmed that today. As long as you get your protein in. How much can you consume at a sitting?
  22. I have only lost 65 lbs in 16 months so don't feel so bad. One thing that happened to me resently is I decided to get a major fill. To the point of barely able to eat solids. I just had to have a minor adjustment today but I lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks. I really think with good restriction you shouldn't be able to eat more than 1/4
  23. I have a size 10 band but mine only holds 4ccs so I don't think we have the same band. If you aren't feeling restriction this is quite common with the first fill. It took me 5 fills to reach my sweet spot so keep the faith and keep going back for more until you can only eat a little bit. My doctor says that even 1/4 cup of food is good if you are getting your 60 grams of protein. I always start my day with a 30 gram protein shake. Good luck.
  24. Jode, are you on any medications to help you with the vomitting? I would start there first. You may want to consider getting an unfill until the swelling goes down. You can always go back in 1 week to get refilled. Just a suggestion.
  25. That is terrible. My fills are $200 cash pay.
