  1. Welcome to the lapband forum. Just remember to follow your doctor recommended post op diet. Lots of soups. Good luck.
  2. Amy, best of luck to you with your impending surgery. Good luck.
  3. I think if you keep your meal down to 30 minutes you aren't eating too much . Anything over that I think you are trying to trick your band. Good luck.
  4. protein shakes, yogurt, meat, cheese sticks, cottage cheese with a baked potato. Alcohol is what kills me.
  5. I'm just sick of being obese. I was able to lose 40 lbs on my own from 320 to 282 before surgery. This has been so freeing. I've never been able to lose weight without hunger before. The lapband has set me free. I'm down 34 lbs since June. I'm considered a slow loser. Although my doctor says I am average at 1 lb a week. I still an thrilled to have my lapband. 6 more lbs and I'm 1/2 way to goal. Happy Holidays
  6. It depends on if your doctor is agressive filler or not. You may want to try over 2ccs at first. Mine started at 1 and I needed another fill within 2 weeks. So far I've had 4 fills at $200 each =$800 out of pocket.
  7. Best of luck with your insurance company. Mine took about 3 weeks. Good luck.
  8. Hiccups are completely normal. That is one sign of being full. So make sure you stop if you get hiccups. You will probably be sore and a little tired the next week. Make sure you are taking it easy. My port was sore that I remember for sure. Make sure you stay on the doctors diet. It is really important while you heal. Good luck.
  9. Hi Bret, I have the 10cc band. My first fill was somewhere at 1.0. I am on fill #4 and finally at 3.0. I think if you want good restriction I would start there. My doctor mentioned that sometimes when you lose weight you also lose it inside, thus he had to adjust me so much. I feel good at 3.0 but I'm sure soon I'll be looking for 3.2 or more. Good luck. You'll love your band.
  10. You look great. Its time for some new clothes!
  11. Sorry for your loss. That motivates me even more. Thank you.
  12. Hi welcome to the lapband forum. Congrats on your surgery. Just remember this is a time to heal. Make sure you follow the post op diet to a tee. Good luck.
  13. For those of you who are ex smokers, how did you quit?
  14. Hi Sherilynn, that is a great way to look at things. I have to remind myself of that every day. I'm down 34 lbs and 72 lbs since my high. It nicr to not be in a size 24 anymore. Good luck.
  15. Carlene, that is a sad story. What a jerk. I really hope this young woman can mature in the right direction. How can you mature when you are constantly treated like a child. That is really unfortunate. My Space isn't that bad. You can protect yourself on the web you just need to know how.
  16. I tolerate egg salad the best. I get really sick on tuna salad. Must be the consistency. Good luck.
  17. Kitty, I eat chinese food all the time. I try and stay on course with a chicken dish. I eat all the chicken first to make sure I get in my protein. I then move to the broccoli beef. So far I am surprised I am able to eat as much as I am. Probably a sign of needing a fill. Have fun and I say go for it. Enjoy. Just stop when you feel full.
  18. Happy Birthday, thanks for all your insight.
  19. Alyssa, don't be too hard on yourself. Getting the right fill level makes all the difference in the world. I would just try and cut your portions down until you can get another fill. Keep the faith and use the fills as a tool. I'm on #4 and I'm not sure if I need another one or not. Keep the faith. You can do this. Good luck.
  20. Hi Susan, each doctor is different. At my first appointment he introduced me to the lapband. He actually showed me what it looked like and how the surgery worked. We discussed my diet failure, my BMI and everything. I hope you have as good of luck with your surgeon as I did. Good luck.
  21. Angela, congrats on the NSV. That is wonderful. Keep up the good work.
  22. I wouldn't worry too much about the rapid weight loss. If you are getting in your protein that is all that matters. On the flip side, you may find that you will need plastic surgery. I've heard on these forums that when you lose faster the skins seems to weap more. Good luck on your continued success.
  23. Yogurt, mashed potatoes, jello, creamy soups, soups with noodles or rice (no chicken). I think you have it down.
  24. Hi Edie, I went through food withdrawal big time. I mourned the loss of my friend as surgery approached. It looks like your weight loss has been really steady. I would just take a good look in the mirror and get back on the horse. You can do this. Happy Holidays.
  25. Welcome to the lapband forum. I understand where you are coming from as far as the "failing" goes. I thought the same thing initially. Like, how did I get here? That is okay. Some of us need extra help. Good luck with your impending surgery. Keep us posted on your progress.
