You should protein, protein, protein, and good carbs. My nutritionist gave me the best rule to follow. The 5% rule. Look at the nutrition contents on the box - the total fat should be 5% or less, total carbs 5% or less, and sugars less than 5%. It's hard to find great food that falls within that rule but they're there. If you go over a little that's okay.

You are so right, Its easy to find low fat OR low carb, but very hard to find both! Possible, but hard.

I thought the 5% rule from most nutritionists was acutally less than 5% fat and less than 5% sugar - not less than 5% carbs?? ... it's just not eating too many carbs that are from 'sugar' and instead encouraging more of the good carbs.

You'd be basically doing atkins with the orginal take on the 5% rule.

All the healthy carbs are less than 5% total carbs. Veggies, fruit and that kind of stuff. Atkins doesn't let you eat hardly any carbs. Atkins also lets you eat any proteins you want even if they are fatty. The 5% rule means only very lean meats. The 5% rule is in no way a limiting "diet" it makes sure you eat all the right foods in all food groups.

Special K meal bars (10 gm protein,140 calories) , Stoffers frozen meals ,bacon and eggs, yogurt, frozen 100 % fruit bars , small portion of whatever I fix for skinny hubbys evening meal

edie

Example of hubby dinner : orange roughy broiled brushed lightly with butter and for me 2 onion rings
