  1. I've been stuck at 197 for two months now!! What is the longest plateau you ever experienced?? I have pretty good restriction but am debating to go a little tighter to shake things up a bit?? What do you advise,anyone??Thanks:tongue_smilie:
  2. Thanks Lisa!! it helps to know we dont struggle alone!! You've given me something to look forward too....sucess!!
  3. Thanks for the encouragement!! Your right I know we did make the right choice and I just need to focus on my journey not anyone else's!! And your right about the skin mine does look better than her's!! LOL
  4. I'm doing the exact same thing!! It is soooo frustrating!! I finally had to make myself quit weighing cause I was getting soo discouraged!!:scared2:I'm really trying to learn patience and concentrate on making good choice's & exercising and quit worry about the scale sooo much!! It's really hard too cause one of my good friends did gastric bypass around the same time as my lapband surgery and she has lost almost 90 lbs and rubbing it in every chance she gets!! Very hard!!
  5. SLim2be,Congrats!!!:thumbup:That is sooo awesome & great to hear!! I'm almost 8 months out and 60 lbs down but have hit a real stall in my weightloss & am getting kinda discouraged,so this post is exactly what I needed to read!!If I can lose 80 lbs in the first year I would feel so great too!! Way to go!! Take Care!!

  7. I think I lost close to 40lbs within the pre-op to the first two months...but then it slowed way down and the last couple of months it's only been like 4lbs a month or so....I also have not gotten serious about exercising either so I think the time has come for that....
  8. Luluc,I like that!! We did pay for it huh?? and if we want it all we should be able to have it if necessary?? There is always going to be "text-book" and then their is the real world where the rest of us live!! lol
  9. This is so funny.....I just told my husband yesterday that my "love affair" with bread was finally over!! I'm 7 months out from surgery and since my last fill bread & I are not a good combo...I would still try to eat it and get stuck almost every time!! I got stuck so bad on a burrito(i know..bad,bad choice)and not only slimed but threw up chunks(sorry gross)that I was like that is it I'm done, but carb & bread addiction is a hard habit to break!!At least were not alone!!
  10. For my health,I totally hear you.Where I work alot of people have done bypass and I'm the ONLY one who has done lapband and I constantly feel like I'm compared & have to explain why my weightloss is less.It is SOOOO frustrating!!:tongue_smilie:!! And why does sucess have to be measured in lbs & sizes anyway?? what about feeling so much better, being able to walk w/o getting out of breath, not constantly sweating, being off blood pressure meds & my cpap machine.tThat is how I'm measuring sucess when people make me feel bad!! Hang in there...it's not a race!!
  11. I like everything you have said.It all makes alot of sense! The band is definitely more work than I anticipated but as I've seen on here with you & many others the rewards of weightloss can still be very great!! It's all about personel choice's!!
  12. Cathy, thanks for the response that was very helpful.I think my problem is I'm not yet to my sweet spot because I get hungry way sooner than 4 to 6 hrs,I'm looking for Snacks and my sweet tooth is bad! Thanks for all th info!! What is your fill level if you dont mind me asking??
  13. Just a question for those of you at a good restriction level feel like you have to actively "diet" to lose weight?? For example are you fighting off hunger, having to stop yourself from eating too much, fighting cravings for sweets?? or is it much easier than that for you?? I'm just curious......
  14. Amen on the discipline part!! I'm really starting to realize how much work this band does require!! Great job btw Jodi on almost being to goal!!!!!!
  15. I dont know if this is personal preference from my surgeon?? I need to ask more questions??
  16. I guess I need to ask what the reasoning behind this is huh??
  17. My band is a 10 cc but they told me it can hold up to 9 cc's but my surgeon does not like to fill beyond 6cc's?? I was curious as to why also?? I know being too tight can cause serious problems........
  18. Has anyone heard of this?? I have a lapband that holds 10 cc's.But was told yesterday at my surgeon's office that they dont like to fill much past 6 cc's?? I'm at 5.5 cc's and still haven't reached my sweet spot yet and I'm a little concerned.Any advice would be helpful & appreciated!!
  19. I'm confused! I just got my 5th fill today for a total of 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. The nurse was kinda of lecturing me because I had only lost a couple of pounds since my last visit 1 1/2 month ago.She said they really dont like to fill people much beyond 6 cc's?? and I should really try to maximize my weightloss at a lower fill level?? It seems like other's here have much more than 6cc's?? Any advice???
  20. smitten4u,Hey there I went to the surgeon with an open mind but was leaning more toward bypass or sleeve and HE recommended lapband 4 me! I had severe IBS prior to wls and he was afraid gastric would/could make that worse that was a chance I was not willing to take.Plus ultimately I was scared to death to do bypass.I've lost 60 lbs in 6 months and am doing great!! I wouldn't change anything in the world.I will tell u it will not be as quick of a weightloss as bypass but I feel in the long run it will be healthier 4 me.Good luck I know it's scary but do what feels right 4 u!! Take care!!
  21. I thought the inability to drink water or pain doing so was a tell-tale sign that something is wrong?? I'd definitely call your Doc and insist to be seen! It's your body dont live in pain!! Good Luck & keep posted so we know your ok!!
  22. Hey Nessa, I'm 6 1/2 months out and am experiencing the same thing..I have 5.25 cc's in a 10cc band.I'm due for a fill in like a week but man do I need it.I'm hungry & wanting to snack all the time.I do feel I can eat way too much food too...So I dont really know the answer but just wanted you to know your not alone!! Hang in there!!
  23. I'm 6 months out and have alot of gas too........I agree it is embarassing especially in public!! I thought of buying some Beano or whatever those other gas products are........any advise would be great...I do use alot of splenda so maybe that is the problem too??Keep "tooting" along!! lol
  24. I'm 6 months out and have been losing alot of hair. But my hair was thinning to begin with.It looks like maybe it's slowing down and I see little baby hairs starting to pop back up.So maybe I'm on the upward swing now!! I would LOVE to have thicker, prettier hair than before like some of you talk about that would be great!! But I'm ok because all the thick pretty hair in the world didn't cover my fat body!! lol :lol:Take care everyone!!
  25. Mechbandster,Thanks so much for your post!! Congratulations on all your hardwork. That is SOOOO awesome!!Your post is exactly what I needed tonight.I'm 6 months out and kinda starting to struggle a little...this definitely inspires me I need to remember it's a marathon I get soo frustrated when the process is slow!!And I definitely feel better now than before. Thanks for your words of wisdom and I cant wait to get to my goal too!!:scared2:
