  1. Do what is right for you and if he follows thats fine. I really think his stats are way off . And agree that the stats for obesity are dismal.. It would be nice to have a buddy but you will be an inspiration to him . So don't let anyone discourage you just go for it and good luck.
  2. Guess my question is how big is your band 10 or 14 ??? I can not even imagine 8 in a 10cc for myself ....It's about stopping when you are not hungry. I would expect a bigger loss then yours in 6 months. Wondering what you are eating protien or sliders.?? I would think you should talk to surgeon . But if you are at 8cc and have a 10 I would be like whoa with the NP.
  3. If you have to weigh everyday like addicted to it and it makes you crazy... take each number everyday and write it down then at the end of the week add it all together and divide by 7 that is your weight learned it from a Dr. But I do not recomend weighing yourself everyday.
  4. Maybe I am being dumb today but.......... why would you care if someone who you know knows you were fat. .....I was fat.. now I am not... I think that I am a role model and people who know me from before never feel intimidated asking me questions about WLS. My kids and family are really proud of me since it is not an easy gig. I think my weight loss story and history makes me more compassionate to the struggling people I come into contact with who feel trapped and hopeless. The operative words here is USED TO BE FAT.. I wish I was not so jigglely and I wish I would have been banded sooner but I am so glad I am not Fat anymore and I think if anyone sees me that way that is their problem not ,mine..
  5. It's a mind game but if I have something hot like tea, hot chocolate or my go to chicken broth my tummy thinks I have had a meal. Cold stuff just doesn't fill the bill for me
  6. Heard of the 5 dy [pouch diet by Kay Baily . I think and my Dr says always always eat protien first you will not lose weight on carbs. And he is right for me. I try really hard to stay below 50 carbs a day, which make drinking protein shakes difficult so I eat my protein real slow and well chewed.. I am going to do the 5 day pouch to get on track, you know being fat and gaining is a lot worse then being hungry and I have learned if I don't give in to my cravings I get over the hungrys .
  7. Allergic to Latex they used glue allergic to that too. Itched and burned , this too shall pass.
  8. My husband is my best friend and he supports me 100% ..... BUT ... he has always been able to eat anything and he just dosen't get it... He has watched me Pb ing and he feels really bad. Being a woman I prepare the food and I make what he eats and I eat what I need . I eat off his plate many times when we eat out. He has never complained when I order something and eat 3 fork fulls. One time I promptly vomited a $40.00 meal in the resturaunt bathroom, We live and learn sometimes it is the hard way. Listen encourage don't bring crap in the house eat it somewhe else and go with him when he excercise but remember it is his journey and much as you love him it is up to him to do it...
  9. I love wine but I only have it when someones over or I go out wine is pretty pricey out so I only have 1 or 2 Beer not so much a a mixed drink with juice is okay but sometimes nothing goes down and I say Okay not tonight and pass. I live in a community where Happy Hour is a regular event and I have needed to say NO .
  10. I am Jan 21 2009 . I have lost 75 lbs gained 4 back would like to lose 15 more. I am happy with my band. Am contemplating having a smidgeon fill. But dreading the pb ing that comes with every fill until I get the new restriction requirements down. Off all meds. but struggling with vitamin B12 needs, I have had ups and downs with fills and unfills. I am one of those folks that has a 10 and can NEVER go above 6ccs. right now at 5. love my life love my band love my Doc. Hope we hear from some more folks
  11. Hey it was surgery, your body is saying what have you done to me now and you feel pretty crappy.. We all felt some discomfort ... It is all about attitude and for some folks it is buyers remorse and for others I haven't woken up skinny darn guess I have to follow a routine (diet). Others wake up and say okay I am on my way. I was so totally unprepared for the gas shoulder pains it was like holy moly my incisions hurt but what the H ----did they do to my shoulder they said you might have some discomfort... discomfort?????????????? it hurt, my stomach was swollen and bruised and oh yeah they used glue to close me since I have a latex allergy found out I have a glue allergy too. I felt pretty rotten for about 5 days but better each day. Stayed in my jamesy. The day I had surgery was probably the only time in my life I did something for just me , and it was the best day of my life.... I love my lap band and my only regret is that I didn't have it sooner... Because my life is so much better ... Because now I like me and the new me eats to live not lives to eat, I move around especially the mall where I can shop anywhere.. I go to the drugstore for cosmetics not a new medication. You will feel better , now it is up to you how you handle the journey. People on this site will help you each step of the way... because those of us who have changed our lifes want everyone to feel the way we feel and while the Band is a tool your biggest tool is in your head. Fact is surgery hurts they open up your body, it has to heal , It will. So Good Luck ........
  12. I have out and out vomited a couple of times and band is still okay I have the same problem everytime I get filled . I know they say we do not want you to throw up so I always get nervous but in three and half years everything is okay. Every fill for me is a learning curve...
  13. You look great ... BUT I bet you feel even better.. see folks it can be done It's work but it is worth it ....
  14. What kind of a Dr can't you call on the weekend. Call him and ask , I have never had this but I can tell you it would concern me. Thank goodness for this group and their experiences I have passed sutures before but not through my belly button. Call and find out from the Doc and then you will feel better.
  15. Go back to the Dr . could be a band problem..... better to know...... this reflux business is nothing to mess with.......................Try the post op diet and see if that works while waiting for Dr appt. about 5 days on that should help.
  16. I am wondering about the sodium in those eat out soups my PA told me they are loaded with salt. Also my body is different it wiol hold on to weight and then I will drop 5 lbs almost overnight. Your body does go into shock and thinks you are starving it. Good Luck I think you are doing very well...
  17. Your Dr. should give you a referral. Not easy to find one on your own start now..
  18. I am sorry your fills are costing you ,,, mine were 60.00 after the first 6 months. But when I think of the money I spent on crap every month. Like those giant diet cokes, Hardees Sausage biscuit, McD Fish sand with large fries and a blizzard from DQ almost everyday .. Well now my husband says I am a Cheap date. I order soup or a baked potato or a piece of fish when we are out and eat some of his huge portions of protein and lots of times I just drink Ice tea and lots of water which I a carry everywhere . Many times when I am not home I just wait until I get home to eat the little bit I eat. So while I don't know your circumstances if you have come this far GO TO YOUR DR.....no matter what it cost..
  19. I can never eat bread, steak, chicken are tough, salads take a lot of chewing. If I really need to eat something I puree it in the magic bullet , looks bad but I get the taste and i can swallow it. But y ou know I am fine with that. I dream of a Rare Cheeseburger with tomato and mayo but IT JUST WILL NOT GO DOWN. Never again will I darken the door of a Subway. But I can shop in any store I want and it fits. So I"ll take that trade off..
  20. I am 5cc in a 10 and anytime I go more I am sliming or pb ing . I am wondering if anyone gets an itch in the middle of their back when they are to full. I do everytime. I can go 5.5 but at 6 I am refluxing like crazy. I have lost 75 lbs of my 90 and I am just being to laid back right now. BUT I have a son getting married in Oct. and I want to look my best unlike the fat lady who went to my last sons wedding 5 years ago.
  21. Me too especially when I lay on my side at night before I go to sleep.....And I am 3 years out..
  22. Okay just like any other diet when you put your body into starvation mode 4oz of Tuna once a day. it is saying what the He!! and it is holding onto every little fat cell it has...The weight will come off just follow the program. I remember when I was new at this I wanted to lose everything week one. Remember huge weight loss over a short time leads to hangy skin, hair loss , bad breath and crazy head games stay off the scale eat when you're hungry stop when your full and take small bites. Good Luck
  23. My Dr always says remember 1 day liquids 2 days soft after every fill. Chicken is impossible and bread is not going to happen I get stuck every time.. I use my Magic Bullet on steak, roast or pork, when I get really hungry for those things. I eat lots of fish. I am at half restriction, and I find that I can eat about 1/2 of anything I put on my plate and Believe me I am no longer a member of the clean plate club. Thats what led to the Band in the first place.
  24. Could be pain meds, I can't imagine you have had a band slip with no food intake they are pretty much sewed in.Drink some hot tea add a little peppermint. still worried call the Dr.
  25. You know this is surgery, it is a life style change ........... Why don't you just start the change by being really nice to yourself and STAY HOME and take care of your needs. No one can say how you will feel ,physically and mentally. 10 days wow that is just a long time to have to resist food temptations and not overdue exertion. How long did you wait to have the surgery?? if you have to go then postpone surgery it's your call. But I personally think you are opening a can of worms that I would never want to deal with Good Luck to you and Please Take of yourself first....
