just a few ways my life has changed since being banded
OK, so I was just reading the thread "Things I wont miss about being obese". I thought it would be a neat idea to jot down a few things about the things that have changed in my life since I have become a bandster. I hope others will join me as well in doing this. Things that have changed are: *After 14 pounds lost I can now put on my comfy blue jeans without having to lay on the bed and suck my gut in to zip and button them. *I can now walk to the bus stop with my kids and not get out of breath by the time I reach to middle of the road. *I haven't had the first Asthma attack (knock on wood) *I have quit smoking (haven't had one in 3 weeks and 4 days now) *The big thing that has changed is THE 14 POUNDS I HAVE LOST THAT WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK ON!!!! the list could go on and on and on, but I will stop there.

Things I won't/don't miss about being Obese
As for myself, these are some things I wont miss about being obese: Thighs rubbing 2-gether Getting tired just walking through walmart not being able to enjoy my kids (play with them and what not) be to afraid to try to get on a ride cause I am afraid i wont fit in the seat people looking at me in disgust including myself ugly looking cloths (why is it so hard to find nice clothes for big people) having to make sure my shirt goes down below my belly cause I dont want to show where I have dunlap syndrome (where you belly done lapped over you belt) most of all what I wont miss is: having all the lights turned out and making sure that it is as dark as possible when my husband and I make love.

I ate too fast help
You are probably much better by now, but I have had this happen to me a couple times although I have't had my first fill. Due to have it on Sept. 15. Anyways, the couple times it has happened to me, I have found that laying back as far as you can without laying down, relaxing yourself (I know it's hard to do but possible) and taking long deep breaths helps out alot. Hope that helps if you ever have a "next time"

This is about my husband
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery StoryI have mentioned several times that he needs to go for counselling and if he went I would even go with him. I've told him that whatever it takes I will help him with it. He doesn't see that he has a problem and doesnt see that it is starting to affect me. I would never in a million years cheat on him. If I was going to, I would have already. I have had the chance (several times) but my love for him is to strong and I know a good thing when I see it. Of course, I havent told him that I have had the chance. He would totally flip if he knew.

What changes after a fill?
how far between do you usually have to weight between fills. I'm due to have my first fill on 9/15. I'm really worried that I will end up gaining weight before I find my "sweet spot". I have no restriction right now, (not that I can tell anyways). I eat my 1 1/2 ounces 3 times a day like I was told and between these 3 meals. I feel like I am straving sometimes so I end up cheating, not really bad, just a few bites of something like chicken salad or a few bites of ham.

This is about my husband
I have been pondering for a couple weeks now whether or not to post a thread like this but I really need to vent to someone and to get some advice. I'm not exactly sure how to write this post so if it sounds stupid, I truely am sorry. My husband and I have been married for 6 months and 5 days now but been together for 2 years and 5 days. When we met, I was 32 pounds lighter than I am right now. I guess after we moved in together I quit trying to lose rest of my weight and didn't care. We have 4 children together. 2 from my previous marriage and 2 from his previous marriage. After alot of talking about it I decided to have the lapband done and was banded on Aug. 18 of this year. Since my surgery I have lost 14 pounds and am pretty happy with that. This is my problem. My husband (whom I love with every breath I take) is always saying that I am going to end up cheating on him. You have to understand I am 30 and he is 41. That is a 11 year age difference. He has been married twice before and both time, the women cheated on him. I have told him time and time again, that I love him, I am extremely happy with him, I want nobody else, and that he is everything that I have ever wanted in a man. He is a very hard worker (most days he works 18 hours out of 24, he is a truck driver). He is a very good provider, he is good with my children and his and treats my as his own, he takes care of me, makes me feel like a queen, and really good in the sack (I know TMI, TMI). I just had to through that last part there in.lol Can someone please help me to find a way to make him see that I never in a million years would leave him for someone younger or anyone else. He is driving me crazy and I want him to be like he was before I had the surgery. The man that knew I loved him and wanted nobody else.

Yeeeeee haaaawwww!!!!
OK, so today is the first day I have weighed since last week. I stepped on the scales after everyone was gone this morning. I was really scared that I had gained weight (I have cheated a few times with this mushie stage). I have no restriction at all yet and i get hungry and end up with hungar headaches so i take a few bites of chicken salad or something. Anyways, the scales have finally moved again. I have now lost 14 pounds which brings me to 250lbs even. I am really excited today about this. I started the night before last with my walking. I took it to the extreme and walked 2 miles. I ended up with inflamation in my right heal and wasn't able to walk without sharp pain all day yesterday. Today it is much better with just a little bit of pain that subsides after I have been up and on it for a while. I have decided that on the nights that my son has football practice and my daughter has cheerleading practice I am going to walk the track instead of just sitting there watching them. That will give me a total of 4 nights that I will be able to walk atleast a mile. I think this will help me with the weight loss. Also, I have been eating refried Beans and lowfat cheese alot lately and I believe that has hendered my weight loss. They told me that it would be fine yet with my next stage I am suppose to stay away from it. I don't understand that part but oh well. I'm off now to go eat my 3 tablespoons of my hamemade Chicken Salad and watch Charmed. Hope to hear from you ladies soon.

excited about the pain
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AJust got back from the Doctors office. Seems all that walking last night caused an inflamation in the tissues of my heal. I told him that since I have the lapband now I was advised to say "NO" to NSAIDS. So my doctor had to call my surgeon and finally got to talk to him. I was given 3 medications, celebrax which is an "NSAID" and 2 other stomach meds. to prevent me from getting an ulcer. Apparently that is why after having these kinds of surgries you aren't suppose to take NSAIDS. I drive all the way to the drug store wait for them to feel the 3 meds for me only to find out that 1 wasn't approved by the insurance, the other was gonna cost because the insurance only paid some of it and the only one they paid totally for, was the Celebrax (THE NSAIDS)...LOL imagine that. We are running really short on cash right now and I don't have the extra to pay spend out right now. So, now I am looking for some advice on what to do to comfort the pain. I know that I can get some insoles and I think I have a pair laying around here somewhere, but getting around right now is really painful so I am going to have to wait for my hubby to get home from work. I have some liquid pain medicine left over from the surgery so I think I will take half a dose of that in a few minutes and hope it dont put me to sleep cause all 4 of my kids will be home in about 3 hours.

excited about the pain
MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AWell, I thought I did. I bought some just the other day for the sole purpose of walking. I bought a pair of CHICKS. I think I am going to go this weekend and buy me a pair of Nike Shocks. They are about the only kind I have been able to wear that didn't mess with my feet.

excited about the pain
Yeah, I know, crazy title. My husband and I took our youngest son to Football practice last night. While my husband stayed on the field to watch him practice I decided to walk the track. So, I take off and about 20 or 30 minutes, I was back where I started from. I had walked a mile for the first time since I was a teenager. I walked over to where Mark (my husband) had sit up our chairs and sat down with sweat running down my entire face. Now, our sons practice lasts for 2 hours. I decided that after a short rest, I'd try to walk the track again. I did, I walked it again. So, I walked 2 miles last night. That is the exctied part. The pain part. Well, when we got home I noticed both my heals were hurting some. I didn't really think about of it cause I put it off on not walking for a while or it being my shoes. I got up with my husband this morning as he left for work. Sat up on the side of the bed, put my left foot on the floor, it didn't hurt one bit, put my right foot down on the floor and just about fell. The pain in my right heal is horrible. I'm not sure what it is all I know, is that it hurts. It usally takes me about 4 seconds to get to the bathroom from our bedroom. This morning I know it took atleast 1 1/2 minutes to get there. Anyone have any ideas as of what could be going on with my right heal? 2 points to this story, 1. My right heal is hurting me more than my port area did right after surgery. 2. Even with the pain I am feeling when I have to walk, I am so excited about what I did last night. I WALKED MY FIRST 2 MILES SINCE I HAD MY SURGERY AND SINCE BEFORE I GOT PREGNANT WITH MY FIRST CHILD!!!!!

Where is your port located?
my port is on the left side right under my boob. Finally too, my surgeon usually puts them between the chest bone down closer to the belly button. The nurse and I have decided he is messing with her and keeping her on her toes..lol

pros and cons of exercise
I was just banded on the 18 of aug. I havent joined a gym or anything yet. Part of me wants to but part of me dont. I use to go to curves a few years ago. I did a diet with it and went 3 times a week for about 2 months. My problem is, I never lost any weight but built muscle which made my number in pounds go up. I know it went up because of the muscle but I just cant stand the site of a scale that goes up no matter what. What am I to do?

please rescue me
OK I am starting my 2nd week of "mushies" today. Last week I had so much chicken i thought I was going to sprout wings. I had baked chicken and chicken salad almost every night. I had pork chops one night. I have been eating refried beans with cheese and taco sauce on it. I don't like any kind of fish, no tuna or anything like that. I hate the taste of yogurt and tofu and soy food makes me want to throw up. Good new is, I only have until the 15 until I can add to my diet. Bad news is, I am about tired of chicken and beans. I am in dire need of something different before I scream to the top of my lungs. Can someone please help me

26 and facing a hysterectomy..please help
I am 30 yrs old and had mine when I was only 22 years old. I like you had serve PMS. When it was my time of the month, I was in the bed with a heating pad the whole time. I had skipped periods, endometrisos (had 5 surgeries for this and none of them worked), I had cysts on both my ovaries, I had alot wrong with my womanly insides. I was rushed for an emergency hystro. due to my uteris not shrinking back to its normal size after giving birth to my 2nd child. Since I have had mine done, I have never regreted it. I don't have to deal with the monthly pains of periods and any of the crazy stuff that come along with it. It was one of the best things that I had ever had done.

first fill coming up
I am scheduled to have my first fill on the 15 of this month. I have only lost 12 pounds since my surgery on Aug. 18. I was wondering a few things. What happens while being filled, will this crazy hunger go away after I have my fill, and will the weight stop coming off faster after my first feel. Right now, I am only moving the scales every couple days and I so badly want to move it daily.

This is my story
Hey there all you fellow banders. My name is Stacy and I'm from Tennessee. My surgeon was Dr. Stephen Boyce out of Knoxville, Tn. I had a wonderful surgeon and all of his staff is amazing. I had my surgery on August 18, 2008. To date I have only lost 13 pounds, but I plan on losing 100 more pounds to get to my first goal of 150 pounds. After I reach that goal, I am hoping to reach my second goal of another 20 pounds to be at 130. :tongue2: I have not always been overweight. As a matter of fact I was under weight until I was 20 yrs. old and had my first child. My OBGYN never once told me I was gaining to much weight and by the time I had her, I had gained 100 pounds. I lost a little bit of weight and become pregnant with my 2nd child. With him, I only gained 40 pounds. I was at my highest weight in 2005 at 300 pounds, my lowest weight since I have become overweight was in 2006 at 218 pounds. I met my 2nd husband in March of 06, got a little to comfy and gained to what my weight on my surgery day was which was 264. I am hoping that with the procedure not only to lose all this additional weight. But to get rid of my back pain and hip pain. To be able to be more active in my kids lives and to have a better marriage and not be so ashamed of my body. Date of Surgery: August 18, 2008 First Fill: September 15, 2008

sweets.....
Hey peps..just to start out with, today was my 2 week post op follow up with my surgeon. Everything is going good. I have offically lost 12 pounds and in good condition. The Nurse felt around for a few minutes before she finally felt my port. I have a realize 9cc. She said it is just a little bit harder to find my kind of port because they are alot slimmer than the others. I am going back on the 15 of this month to have my first fill. Can anyone please tell me what to expect with my first fill? Also, I am having these big time cravings for something sweet. I have tried to munch on a sugar free popsicle put that just isn't doing it for me. Is there anything sweet that I can have. I was thinking earlier about the Weight Watchers sweet stuff. I wonder if that would be ok to try. All of the sweet stuff is very small but still really nice and helps alot with the cravings. I ate them with my last diet before I had the band placed. If anyone has any suggestions, please please please, tell me.

MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&AI love the Atkins shakes, they are so yummy. I have tried several different Protein Shakes and the atkins is the only one that actually has a good flavor to them. I like the strawberry smoothie the best

the drinking game
OK, I can understand not drinking 1 hour after you have ate, but why are you not suppose to drink 30 minutes before you eat?

between meals hunger
OK, I started my "mushies" stage yesterday. I did good, I'll hand that part to myself. I noticed yesterday and today, I'm getting hungry inbetween my meals. I am only suppose to eat 3 times a day and only 1 to 1 1/2 oz. per meal. My papers say DO NOT SNACK BETWEEN MEALS. Any suggestions as of what I can do between meals to ease the hunger pain. Also, I have noticed that I am not getting that feeling of being full after I have eaten. I'm not sure if this is due to no restriction or very little restriction as of right now. I'm not even sure if the Dr. put anything in my band yet and I wont know until Wednesday morning. My scales aren't moving hardly anymore. I am (as of today) 2 weeks post op and have lost only 12 points. I thought 12 pounds in 2 weeks, wow that pretty good. Then I see people on here that have lost 18 to 20 pounds by now and I am starting to become depressed and wonder if I am doing something wrong. Am I, am I doing something wrong? Or maybe just maybe they are counting what they lost on their preop diet. I wasn't required to do a preop diet. I went in weighing 264 and as of today I weight 252.

So Is The Chicken, Fish, etc. Going To B Wet
If I'm not mistaken, "being wet" means that it has to be creamy. That way when it goes down, it wont get stuck (if you eat slow and small amounts). I had grilled chicken with lemon pepper seasoning last night, used some chicken broth to puree it with. It was really good. I think that with it being pureed, it actually brought the taste of the chicken out more. I'm wanting to try a pork chop 2morrow, not sure what liquid to puree it with though.
