  1. OK, so the other night I was watching the news, they did a very brief section on when you have the bypass and your pouch stretches, the surgeons can now go in a and staple off some of the stomach to make the pouch smaller again. So, if you stretch your pouch with the lapband, what happens? Does anyone know if you have to go back under to have it done again or what?
  2. My hubby has been after me to have a 3some for quite some time now. I can't lie, there is a BIG part of me that wants to but a part that dosen't want to. I mean, he is wanting to bring in another guy cause he says that he thinks I would love it (cause I in general LOVE SEX). I agree with him, i probably would like it, but, I haven't lost all of my weight yet and still am not comfortable with my body (I am just now getting to where I will let him see me without any clothes on) plus, I just feel like even though he will be part of it that it is cheating
  3. ok, so i have had the "little swimmers" in my eyes and up my nose. Am I still considered a quitter?
  4. Well, as we all know, flu season is now upon us. My mom was looking on the internet for my son, daughter, and myself for cold remedies. Both my children have walking Pneumonia and I was just diagnosed with Bronchitis. Neither of my kids responded to the cough meds that were prescribed for them and I was coughing so much my stomach was actually hurting. So, that's when she decided to look on the net to see what kind of home remedies were out there. Luckly she found something that not only worked, but is healthy for you and tastes good. Here it is, put some HOT Water in a small bowl. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon with 1 teaspoon of honey (I use a medicine cap that come with a Nyquil bottle). Put whatever you mix the cinnamon and honey in into the water making sure the water doesnt get into the mixture. Leave it in the water long enough to make the honey and cinnamon paste become liquidy, then take. Only bad thing about this is, you can't drink for a little while, due to the liquids washing the mixture down. Does it work? YES IT WORKS. After trying OTC cough meds and prescribed meds and nothing working for any of us, we tried this and now not only do I sleep alot longer during the night, but my kids haven't woken up once coughing since they have been taking this. I give it to them about 45 minutes before they go to bed and they sleep all night long. Also, this mixture can be used for a number of things other than for coughs. It can be used for acne, weight management, balding, looking younger older, and several other things. Well, atleast that is what they say. I'm not sure if it works for all the other stuff, but I do know it works on the coughing. If anyone reading this wants the website it is as follows: www.stakieh.com/hfolder/honeyinmedicine.htm If you google this, it should be the first like on the page. Hope everyone enjoys
  5. OK, I recently (finally) joined a gym. I have been going for about a month and I am 4 months post op now. I go 3 nights a week. I start out 10 minutes of walking on the treadmill and another 10 on the exercising bike. Then I do 3 sets of 10 working on my inner, outter thighs, 3 sets of ten with my leg crunches, 3 sets of ten on my calfs, and 3 sets of 5 on my arms. I think I pretty much have it all covered except for one part. I need to start working with my belly. The gym I go to only has one piece of equipment to work on for the belly and you have to lay down (almost upside down). To me, (someone that still has a big belly) its very intemadating. My question is, does anyone out there have any tips they can send my way on how to do these crunches (whether in a gym or at home) without hurting myself? If so, can you please send them my way?
  6. I had the same problem. Had a pretty bad cold and a horrible cough. You know those kinds of coughs that seem to come from deep within. I had that kind of cough for over 2 weeks. I started hurting in my stomach right around where the band is. I called my surgeon and spoke with one of his Nurses and she said that it more than likely was just a pulled muscle. She told me and I am going to tell you, unless you start having severe pain constantly, don't worry. If you start having constant severe pain, then, call and get an appointment set up. Hope you get to feeling better!
  7. For about a week now, there are days that I just feel like I can't get enough to eat. I have been eating fruit between my meals (which my Doctor perfers I not do). I had my last fill on October 7 and am wondering if maybe it is time for me to have another fill? What do you guys and gals think? Should I an appointment for another fill? Also, I am having a small problem with Stomach pain. It seems that most of the time when I eat, my stomcah starts hurting. It's not a sharp pain or dull pain, just pain that lets me know that its there. It lasts for about 2 minutes, then I am fine? Anyone maybe know what this could be?
  8. I joined a gym a few weeks ago. I go 3 days a week. I walk on the treadmill at a 3.5 incline at about 2.7 to 3.0 speed for 15 minutes and then I get on the exercising bike for 15. That gets me my 30 minutes of cardio. After this, I to my inner and outter thighs, leg presses (laying down on a machine and pushing up 70 pounds as fast as I can, then I do the back on my calfs and front leg lifts, 10 times 3 times around on each machine. Then, followed by 20 minutes in the tanning bed. I have found that a workout followed by a tanning visit really cuts down on the soreness afterwards.
  9. 4 months post op as of today, I have had 3 carbonated drinks since I had the band put in. I have heard that it stretches the pouch but I think it will stretch it only if you drink it constantly. I like a few other people, tend to let my carbonated drinks go flat. It takes around around a day and a half to drink a 20 ounce bottle of coke now.
  10. HUM: My doctor said just the opposite of yours. He said only 3 meals a day no snacking between meals and only 4-5 ounces when I eat. Guess every Doctor is different huh?
  11. I know my response will most likely cause a few (not so nice) comments but, I have found that taking 1 green Tea tablet in the mid morning and 1 around 2 or 3 helps with the inbetween meals hungry. Remember: Everyone may have their own opinion as of what mid morning is to them, my mid morning is at 9:00. The green tea helps to curb your appetite and also helps stimulate metabolism. I'm not telling you in the least to go out and by these, but I'm not telling you not to either. I know they work and I don't get hungry between meals now that I am taking them. If you decide to give it it try, make sure you drink plenty of liquids during the day. Best of luck
  12. Well, I just got news this morning my wonderful mother inlaw is sending me some money for Christmas since I have lost enough weight to change pants and shirt sizes. So, While doing laundry today, I decided to go through my pants draw so see what all I needed. Little did I know, I was going to be making a trip to goodwill today. I had about 10 pairs of pants in my draw. They ranged from sizes 22 to 28. I knew right off the 28s would be to big but wasn't sure about the 24s. So, I try them on and they were too big, but they were my comfy pants last winter. Then I saw some 22s in the VERY bottom. I went ahead and tried them on, thought, well they wont fit but I will be able to fit into them (hopefully) by the end of this winter. Over the thighs, no problem, over the hips, easy, around the stomach, just like I had butter on my belly, buttoning them, didn't have to suck my belly in one little bit. OH YEAH, THEY FIT. I am so excited and proud of myself. So, anyone out there that is having problems not losing (what they consider enough). Don't worry, I started off slowly and now I am steady with my weight loss and have dropped a total of 2 pant sizes. It WILL come off, you just gotta give it time. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!
  13. I do what I am suppose to, I stick to the diet but there are days when I just stay hungry. I thought maybe taking something would help with that.
  14. Was just wondering. if you take diet pills after having the band placed, would it cause problems with the band?
  15. I have noticed for the past few weeks that while I am eating (it usually happens when I begin to clump and lasts until the pain goes away) I have been having gurgling sounds. I don't mean barely noticable, I mean people in the living room can hear them. What is this noise and why am I making it now? I have a theory, maybe it's the food that got stuck trying to spread out or make its way through, or maybe air trapped. What do ya'll think?
  16. OMG!!! That Doctor should be reported. You said it yourself, sending you home while complaining of chest pain and not even checking you, sounds like he is in it for just the money. The first thing my surgeon did the next morning after surgery was an ultra sound of both of my legs, from my hip all the way to my ankels to make sure there were no blood clots. I am so sorry that you have had such a bad experience with this procedure. I hope you are able to find another surgeon to help with the lapband, but your first goal should be to get better then start the weight loss again. My prayers are with you!
  17. My doctor told me that not only acid reflux would be an issue, but also the nicitine (however you spell it, its late and my eyes are heavy) can cause an ulcer. I myself smoked the morning of my surgery and didn't pick one up again again about 2 months after my surgery. Thankfully, I haven't had any problems with acid reflux even though I had it horribly before surgery. Funny thing is, now that I have started smoking again, I have started losing weight alot faster than when I had stopped smoking. Anyone wanna help me out with that one?
  18. Showers are fine even baths are fine. My husband gave me a shower about 8 hours after I got my band
  19. Hey guys and gals. I had my band put in in August of this year. Have lost 30lbs. Not as much as I had hoped for by this time, but still a good bit of weight. I started off 2 weeks after having my surgery walking and was up to 4 miles a day. I had to stop walking for a while because a few years ago I got hit in the back and the impact was so bad that it fractured one of my vertabrae and it has now sit up with good ole uncle author. I am needed some advice on what I can do to help take the weight off a little faster in the exercise department. Anyone care to help me out some?
  20. The key to not over eating, put just a tablespoon of food on your plate. In time, you will begin to know the signs of when you are getting full. For me, I can tell when I am getting full because I start to have problems breathing, but, everyone has different signs. Also, remember, don't spend over 20 minutes while eating, don't eat infront of the TV, and try to talk a less as possible, this above things, can get you into trouble. Remember, you are only hungry for 30 minutes.
  21. Your body is going through so many changes right now and getting use to not overeating anymore. Thoughts of did I make a mistake having this done or not will pop into your head quite a few times. But just remember, you did this for many different reasons. To be healthier, to feel better about youself, a whatever reasons you may have decided to have it done. It does get better, I promise. In the end, you will look back at your first few weeks after having surgery, and think to yourself, I can't believe that I 2nd guessed myself about having this done. Good luck!!
  22. Each visit is 300.00 dollars, fill, unfill whatever. I am self pay. This is getting expensive. $300.00 a fills? Luckly, my insurance paid for my surgery and pays for the fills and unfills. But still, 300 is alot of money. I ask at my Dr. office just to see how much it was and they only charge $100.00 per fill/ or unfill. where do you live?
  23. I recieved my band on August 18 of this year. I have finally started losing weight like I should, just for the past 3 weeks, I dropped a total of 10 pounds. Wish I could have lost like this in the beginning then I'd be alot closer to my goal weight, but I'm losing now, so I am happy. Anyways, I am having severe gas pains about 3 days a week. I have tried things over the counter but nothing seems to be working. When I say severe, I mean, I can't walk upright cause it is so bad and I find myself in the fetal position while having them. I have never had this problem before, just since I got my band placed. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you find to help relieve it?
  24. This also will be my first Thanksgiving since I got band I had mine done in August of this year. My husband, and our 4 kids are travling up North (West Virginia) for the Holidays. I am a little scared of this big Holiday, but I know not only I will get through it, but, all of us will make it. My primary goal is not to overstuff myself. I plan on having a small piece of turkey, a few tablespoons of stuffing, a little bit of cranberry sauce, and whatever I may think I want. I have pretty much learned when I begin to get full and when to stop. So, if I end up putting to much on my plate, I will just save some for later. I have had the thought of not eating anything until time for Thanksgiving dinner that day, but I'm not to sure how that will work out.
  25. You may need to make an appointment with your surgeon, also ask if maybe the band wan't placed high enough on your stomach. Everyone loses at a differnt weight but if you were band in 07 you should have lost alot more than that. I was band in august of this year and have only lost 25 pounds, but due to my back problems, I'm not able to exercise like I should so I figure that is the reason I am not losing as fast as most people do. I know from experience that you can't compare your weight loss to others cause you will only depress yourself. Eight right, exercise as much as you can and get yourself to the Doctor ASAP.
