  1. It may depend on your insurance. You may need to be referred to the bariatic surgeon by your regular doctor first.

  3. Finally, another person from SD!! I live 15 miles to your east in Humboldt. I am almost 5 months out. I had Dr Thaemert at the Surgical Institute in Sioux Falls do mine and he is absolutely great! I am going for my 3rd fill on the 20th. Let me know if you need anything or have any questions.
  4. I had my 1st appointment June 6th and had surgery Sept 30th, so 3 1/2 months. But I was denied by insurance and had to self pay.
  5. Your feelings are totally natural. I wasn't nervous at all until I got my actual surgery date, then all of a sudden doubts came flooding in. You have to be sure this is for you. It is a decision that you have to be totally commited to. I have not regreted it one second. Well ok, maybe a second the first couple days when I was in pain but that passed. Keep praying. HE will give you an answer! Take Care
  6. Your post just made me smile! Congrats & Good Work!
  7. Thank you for the words of encouragement Kimmy! Just to let you know, I packed my gym bag today and am going there over my lunch hour. Lets fire back up!! :cursing:
  8. I am in the exact same spot. I was banded a week after you on Sept 30th and am only down 32 pounds. I am so discouraged. I do have some restriction feeling. I have had 2 fills for a total of 4.5 cc's in my band. I just feel I should be down more than this and am feeling sorry for myself. My problem is getting in the routine of regular excercise. I find myself get in the groove for a couple weeks, then fall off the wagon for a couple weeks.Frustrated with myself!
  9. I know how you feel. I was banded 9-30-08 and have been stuck at 30 pounds for several weeks. It just won't budge!
  10. As the previous person said "you will know". For me, it isn't painful, just very very uncomfortable and I have to get up from the table and walk around. I don't know if the movement or getting up and stretching does something or what. It usually takes me a good 20 minutes to feel comfortable again.
  11. My dr. gave me something to numb it and told me that it was going to feel like a bee sting. It literally didn't even hurt that bad. Then when he did the fill, I did not feel a thing at all. It was a cinch.
  12. I just started using the NeilMed nasal rinse a few weeks ago, Katy, and I cannot believe what a difference it makes. I use it at least once a day.
  13. 25 Pounds in 7 weeks in awesome. I am 10 weeks out and am only down 22 pounds. I know we all want to be losing faster than we are, but at least it is coming off. Keep up the good work.
  14. I was banded on 9-30-08 and am down 22 pounds right now. Sure is going slower than I wanted but it is going. I had my 1st fill on 11-07 of 3cc's and had a little restriction for a few days, then nothing. Went back for my 2nd fill on 12-1-08 and he put in another 1.5cc's. I have good restriction now, but am going in on 12-16 for my 3rd fill. I just want a little bit more and I think I will be good.
  15. My 1st fill in my 10cc band was 3cc's, my 2nd was 1.5 cc's. I think I am almost there. I go back on Dec 16th and may have them put in just a little bit more.
  16. I am 39 away. Seems like I will never get there. I get so down in the dumps when the scale doesn't seem to move.
  17. I was turned down by insurance so I paid all out of pocket. $20,850. Was alot, but I know it will be worth it.
  18. My first fill was today as well. I can't believe I was even nervous, it went to good. The worst part was the sting of the numbing medicine. He put in 3cc's My next followup is Dec 16th.
  19. My doctor said that I can drink right up to the minute I start eating, but then quit because if you drink as you eat it helps push the food right through your band faster and you won't feel full as long. He told me to wait a while after eating to start drinking again also.
  20. I haven't tried this, but a friend brings the Crystal Lite to go packs in her purse and orders vodka & water and mixes in her packet. She is hooked on it.
  21. I know how you feel. I was banded on 9-30 and am only down 14 pounds. I haven't went in for my first fill yet, it will be on Nov 7th. Hopefully that will help me jumpstart the losing. Hang in there.
  22. My doctor told me to call him right away if I think I am getting the flu and he will get me anti nausea meds and if that didn't work, he would have to do an unfill.
  23. That is so inappropriate. I don't know how I would have reacted. I think my mouth would have dropped and I wouldn't have been able to speak. And she is in MANAGEMENT!!! I think I would file a complaint even if she is leaving.
  24. Yes I have had the same problem. I was banded on 9-30-08 and I don't get my fill until Nov 7th. I am anxiously and patiently (kind of) waiting.
  25. Marcie, I am so glad I am not alone. We were banded the same day and I am experiencing the same thing. I have to wait until Nov 7th for my first fill. I lost a nice amount the first week, but only 2 the second now none. Kind of disappointing. Hopefully things will pick up after our fills.
