Concerns about Flu illness
My doctor said if I even think that I have been exposed to the flu or have it, to call him immediatly and he would prescribe an anti nausea medicine. He said vomiting would be really bad for the band and may cause a slippage.

5 year supervised diet!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had called the insurance company before I even went for my first consult to see what was required. I had to be at least 80 pounds overweight, a certain BMI, have at least one problem caused by my weight (I had high blood pressure) and I needed to have a dr aggree with me that I needed the surgery. I thought "great", all these were true. Sent my packet & 10 days later came my denial "no record of 5 yr DOCTOR supervised diet plan". My surgeons nurse called the company and explained this was never stated to me, but they wouldn't budge. I had tried other diets for years but never under the direction of a doctor, which meant I would have to wait 5 additional years until they would pay for it. I just couldn't wait until I was 36 to start a new healthy life. So, decided to pay. Since you are both wanting this surgery, I would definitly try to fight it. Best of Luck!!

5 year supervised diet!!!!!!!!!!!!
My insurance company didn't mention the 5 yr diet until after we submitted. Then they came back with a denial stated that a 5 year supervised diet was necessary. I decided that I wanted to do this for myself and was able to self pay. I figure it was a 20,000 investment to myself.

If it ever happens to me
I agree with Elcee. Is your doctor supportive to reassure you that everything is working correctly? I think that maybe you should talk to someone to go over your concerns. I know that it has only been a short time since surgery for you, so to think that you wanting it removed already may be a bit premature. I will be thinking of you.

Who To Tell?
You are by no means being selfish. I have a "strained" relationship with my dad as well and was so nervous to tell him. I knew my mom would be supportive no matter what, but just didn't know how dad would react. He took it ok, did have a few questions for me before hand. But since surgery, hasn't really mentioned it or even asked how I am doing or gee, you look great (I'm down 60 pounds). Anyway, I hope things go well for you and you find peace with your decision.

Hit a plateau for months now.... arggg
I am now 11 months out and I have to say, I TOTALLY stalled in months 7,8 & 9 for some reason. Not a pound lost in those months. I bumped up my protein intake and now I am on a roll again.

Can you gulp the water down?
Several months ago, I told my surgeon that it hurt to drink water. That it felt like it was swirling around in a funnel before it finally made it through the hole. I asked him if he thought I was too tight, and he said no, that I shouldn't try gulping water.

Why do women have anal sex?
Ok, besides the "tighter feeling" my guy likes it because he knows there is no way I can get knocked up.

Hello from South Dakota
Hello South Dakota ~ I am so glad I found someone else from SD, you are only the 2nd one I have found. I was banded Sept 30th 2008, so coming up on a year and am down 57 pounds. Have my checkup on the 17th of Sept, so hoping maybe to be down 65 by then. I was banded in SF by Dr Brad Thaemert from the Surgical Institute of SD. He and his staff are so supportive.

Calling All September Samurai
Hello all ~ I cannot believe we are coming up on our 1 year anniversay. I am barely a Samuri, banded on Sept 30th, 2008. I am down 55 pounds now, wish it was more but it is something. I go for my year check in with my surgeon on Sept 17th and may ask for a small fill. His goal when I started this was 50 pounds down in a year. I am there, but would like to maybe go down 10 more pounds before I go in. Guess we will see. Take Care~ Julie

Has anyone tried Slim in 6?
I was wondering the same thing. I watch the infomercial and was thinking of ordering it, but would like some feedback from someone who uses it.

Any Regrets After Lap Band?
Thank you for your honest response. The question was asked and you answered it. If people don't want you to answer, don't ask the question! I am sorry it didn't work for you. Everyone has different experiences.

Popcorn is my downfall. I can munch on it with no problems at all.

Pysch Eval- what kind of questions do they ask?
It wasn't bad at all. First they sent me a questionaire to fill out and bring with me to my appointment and we went over the around 100 questions. She asked me about who I would have for support, If I thought I would change as a person afterwards, how I handle stress, my depression etc. I was really just a sitting and visiting with the lady but the whole conversation was about me. You will do fine.
