  1. Hello, my doctor said I can only take small size pills. Large pilss must be cut in half. However, my doctor gave me liquid Loritab. Plus, I bought liquid Tylenol ahead of time just in case. It sounds as though you are doing well with the pill. If you believe it is a mistake, call your doctor's office. I know it's Thanksgiving Day, but they will have either an emergency number you can call or a message service. Doctors work 24/7. If they are not available they have someone else available for when they are not. Good luck.
  2. Hello everyone: It is Thanksgiving Day, so what are you thankful for?? I will start by saying: My health, having health insurance, and being banded My family, they are always there for me My friends, give me strength and encouragement Being employed, when so many people are being layed off Having a home to live in, when so many are facing foreclosure
  3. Wow! They send you home that quick. Amazing. Congrats and good luck.
  4. Did you ask your doctor if it is normal to have a fill 8 weeks out from surgery? My doctor does them 6-weeks out. I had surgery 11/11/08 and if I need a fill it will happen the week of Christmas. It doesn't hurt to ask if you think you might need a little fill before January.
  5. 1. How many people have you banded? 2. How many slippages have you had? 3. What training have you had? 4. What do you recommend for me? Band or by-pass? 5. What other tests do I need to complete? 6. Is there an over night stay in the hospital? 7. Do you have a preference of bands? 8. What is your fill policy? 9. How often will I see you for aftercare? 10. Do you personally do the fills or does a nurse/PA do this? There are so many other questions, but these will help begin the process. Good luck!
  6. I had nonfat sf plain yogurt this morning and it gave me that feeling like I have a steak stuck in my chest. Crazy. I feel more restricted in the morning when I wake up, so I try not to eat first thing, but this morning I didn't follow my rule and I had the yogurt first thing. I am on the mushie stage and it is weird how I react to different foods with the band.
  7. Congrats! I don't know how you went back to work so quickly. More power to you. As far as the graphics, this link might help. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f18/new-site-57468/
  8. I would talk to my doctor about this. He/she will tell you when you can start solids.
  9. Well I am way to new to be at this point, but I prefer talking to my doctor about what she thinks is the best healthy weight I should achieve. I just feel better when I talk to the bariatric team, rather than co-workers. Good luck. And Congrats on all the weight loss. You are an inspiration to me.
  10. Hi, I was banded on 11/11/08 was on clear liquids week one and week two full liquids. Today was my first post-op doctor appointment and my doctor said to start mushies. I believe the mushie stage is either one or two weeks in length depending how I tolerate the stage.
  11. It is an individual thing. My doctor told me two weeks off. I had planned to take two weeks off anyway, because I take longer to recover. I am 44 and I don't bounce very quickly from surgery. This was my 11th surgery procedure. I actually felt better after 7-days, but I am so glad I took two weeks off.
  12. I love to shop at GNC and I take advantage of their gold card. I have a very low tolerance for anything that is milk based, so I like the New Whey bullets and the Isopure drinks. My tummy tolerates both.
  13. I agree! I noticed I feel more confident and I that is with a 25 pound weight loss so far. I suspect once all me excess weight is off, my confidence is going to soar.
  14. Hello. I had surgery 11/11/08 and it took me about 7 days to really feel better. The first 3-4 days were the pits, but it really did get better. Wait and see, in no time you will feel so much better.
  15. I was banded 11/11/08 and this is my first week back to work. I recommend that you get all your grocery shopping doing ahead of time. Have your doctor pre-fill your post op meds for you. If you have a family, buy easy to cook frozen meals or cook meals ahead of time and freeze them. Clean the house before surgery. Buy all your liquid post op fluids ahead of time. Plan on getting lots of rest. Good luck.
  16. I would call your doctor's office for food variation tips. They should have provided this to you before surgery.
  17. I agree good choice. You need time to recover. It took me over a week before I felt better. I took two weeks off from work to ensure I good recovery and I am back at work with no regrets.
  18. I still have gas pains two weeks out. I mean really bad bloating pain. I take gas x but it doesn't really help. I am back at work and I have to run to the bathroom because the gas pain is bad.
  19. Yes, move forward with the surgery. Your health is in jeapordy and your health care providers believe this is a tool you can beneift from. I applaud your husband's ability to lose his weight in the manner that he did. Great job for him! But we are all individuals and what works for one person might not necessarily work for someone else. Do what is best for your health.
  20. I am newly banded and since my surgery day, I have lost 16 pounds. Add that to the 10 pounds I lost during the pre-op and it is a total of 26 pounds. My doctor pre-filled me with 3cc during the surgery, so right now I feel fine.
  21. I acted as though I was already approved and started the pre-op diet.
  22. My doctor says no caffine or soda pop.
  23. Give it a couple of weeks and you will feel so much better. Your not even a week out, so you need time to recover. I had my surgery on 11/11/08 and today is my first day back to work and I feel great! Give it time, your body is healing and you will get better. :-)
  24. I was banded on 11/11/08 and while on the liquid post op diet, I was HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt light headed, dizzy, growling stomache pains. These symptons occured a couple of days post op. Once, I was able to tolerate cream Soups and yogurt, I was better able to control my hunger. Good luck!
