I need help with this problem of getting stuck in front of other people
If I am out with co-workers for lunch, I get one of two things; either soup or an appetizer, but never an entree. I save money this way I am eating less And I don't have to worry about what other people think

Restricted in morning and Port pain
What does your doctor say? I have tight restriction in the morning, so I have a warm beverage, which helps. I also have tight restriction after I work out, so I usally will eat a couple after the work out in the evening. I am not sure about your port pain, but I am sure your doctor might have some insight. As far as weight loss, how is your after care going? Are you exercising, getting fills when you need them, and watching slider foods?

Favorite "post-band" chain restaurant?
My favorite is any Chinese Restaurant. It is not often we go out to eat or bring home take out, but when we do it usually is Chinese food. I never go wrong with the soup and pot stickers.

Liquid diet time
Do you mean what people ate before the liquid pre-opdiet or after? Before I started the liquid pre-op diet, I wanted to get use to it, so I skipped lunch and had broth. It was very hard and when I was still hungry, I had more broth. I had huge portion issues and would pile to food on my plate. Rather than just go cold turkey with all liquids and I wanted to gradually retrain myself to eat less. Thus, skipping lunch and having broths and Protein drinks. This made my transition to the liquid pre-op diet stage a little easier. Good luck!

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
I hope the medical board steps in quickly. Jeopardizing a woman's health is just wrong.

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
Okay Pattygreen, now your just being ridiculous to the point of sheer stupidity. Placing a woman's health in jeopardy by placing so many embryos in her is unconscionable.

February 2009 Exercise Challenge
Yesterday: Unexpected road trip out of town, so no exercise. Today: 4 miles, 1% incline, for 60 minutes. I was able to go 1 extra mile, by decreasing the incline. My goal now is to do 5 miles in 60 minutes by March 15.:frown: Georgia Girl sorry to hear you were sick. Lulu, let me know how golfing is with the Wii.

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
Finally, something we can all agree on. Nothing is more crazier than being single while living off government assistance, staying with your parents for reduced rent and bringing 8 more children into the world, while you cannot financially provide for the 6 kids you already have. If that doesn't say crazy, I don't know what does???:frown:

I feel dumb asking this
I cannot feel the band around my stomach. But I do feel restriction when I eat. I have lost around 37 pounds since November and have not had any major problems. Sorry to hear about your boss in her troubles. Good luck with the surgery!

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
Hey Hey Hey, be nice to us who live in California, we are not all self-centered breeding machines. Plus, I did post on this thread the cost of a licensed day care center in California for one child going full time. The data reflects 2006, which was around $650.00 a month, but it is now around $800 a month in California. How on earth do you pay for that with so many kids???

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
Okay someone is threatening Octo-mommy. More tax payers dollars at work to investigate. LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles police say they will investigate death threats against octuplet mom Nadya Suleman. Police Lt. John Romero says Thursday that officers are meeting with Suleman's publicist Mike Furtney about the flood of angry phone calls and e-mail messages. Word that the 33-year-old single, unemployed mother is receiving public assistance to care for the 14 children she conceived through in vitro fertilization has stoked furor among many people. Furtney says 500 new e-mails were received early Thursday. Fortney says Suleman is currently living in an undisclosed location and spends time with all of her kids every day. He says not all of the calls are angry. One family from the Midwest has invited Suleman and her brood to live on their farm. Even before the 33-year-old single, unemployed mother gave birth to octuplets last month, she had been caring for her six other children with the help of $490 a month in food stamps, plus Social Security disability payments for three of the youngsters. The public aid will almost certainly be increased with the new additions to her family. In her only media interview, Suleman told NBC's "Today" she doesn't consider the public assistance she receives to be welfare and doesn't intend to remain on it for long.

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
Actually Pattygreen, your threads on this topic espouse God. God this God that. It makes me wonder how far to the right do you stand and can you see past the wrongness of Octo-mamma's actions without saying God in the same sentence. I'm telling you, someone is drinking the wholly water! And again, Patty, with all do respect, your ten kids did not all come at once. Come talk to us when you have 8 preemies with health care issues. Come tell us how you and your husband raised 8 preemie babies with your 6 other kids.

To loose or not to loose.
This actually happened to me, although my primary care doctor and nutritionist did not give me the questioning look. My insurance company assigned me a RN case manager who had WLS herself. She was a great resource and was knowledgeable about the process. However, when I provided her updates about my weight loss during the 6-month supervised diet, she told me that the insurance company would not cover me if I went below 40BMI. I was around 42BMI when I started the process and losing weight brought me to 40.8 or something odd like that. It was really nerve racking, because I would read on this forum that your weight and BMI for insurance approval was based on your first consult with your PC. Then I read it is based on your first weigh in with your bariatric surgeon. Then the surgeon's office told me something entirely different. I just followed the case manager's advice and did not go below a BMI of 40.

Exercise and Health Issues
Actually, I am training for a marathon. And I am really just at the begining stages. I am following a training plan from the marathon that I am hoping I can run in on Thanksgiving Day! Run to Feed The Hungry in Sacramento. Come join us Jachut, it will be a lot cooler in Cali. I know I am no where near the level I need to be at, but I am taking small steps towards my goal. And I don't feel comfortable decreasing my training. Daily calories range from 1,200 to 1,500 now, where I use to have 1,000 to 1,200 a day. Jachut and Lulu, this hair loss is freaking me out!

No more favorite foods?
Well I have not given up eating a variety of different foods. I love my veggies, not sure why, because I did not love them as a kid. And I eat bread, fruits, meats, and carbs. Shocking but true! I just eat so much less of everything. If I am having a treat, I eat a small portion of it and I don't eat it every day, but I do have treats. I have found with my band, I have great restriction right now, and I am able to consume any type of food. But I eat small portions. However, there are people who cannot eat certain food types because they get stuck. You really will not know what you can and cannot eat until after surgery when you are on solids. You doctor might have specific instructions for you too! Good luck!

New and trying to figure it all out!!
Hello Krista and welcome to LBT! Research is a great first start. I would also contact my insurance to find out their requirements and what bariatric doctors are in the network. As far as giving up certain foods forever. I was never told that by my doctor. I was always told I can all foods types, but just in modification. Now I know there are some people who are not able to eat certain foods because it does not agree with their band. I am not one of those people and I am able to eat small portions of all food types. Good luck with your research!
