  1. For anyone who has gone thru with an arm lift.. Do you HAVE to also do lipo? My arms have really thinned out and what's hanging is literally just skin. I also heard that if you dont do lipo the recovery is easier, less painful and no drains.. Is any of that true? I'd love to hear anyone's experiences they may have.
  2. I have a close friend who started with sleeve and developed horrible gerd. She had a revision to bypass and did wonderful. She says it cured all her problems and helped her lose more weight. More often people will post about their bad experience then a great one.
  3. Congratulations!!! I cried the day I hit ONE-derland it felt like such an accomplishment!!! Rooting for your day there too!!
  4. You can find a lot of seated workouts online using a kettlebell or dumbbells
  5. My latest WIN... I haven't flown since my weight loss. I used to hide the seatbelt under my sweatshirt to make it appear buckled because I needed an extender and was too embarrassed to ask for one. Last week I flew and had so much extra length on the seatbelt it felt really great.
  6. I made a reply with links to what I'm talking about and it would not post it. So you will have to just google the Unjury stuff. Post op I drank alot of the Unjury protein broths. They make large tubs but for me the game changer was the indiviual sticks of single serve powder soup. I would throw them in my purse and easily get a cup of hot water to stir it into at work or out and about. This was helpful especially when I was sick of "sweet" tasting protein shakes. Chicken soup, french onion and the beef all worked for me. Theres also a variety pack they sell. I did not really care for their other protein though. I tried alot of powders from different companies but for me ready to drink shakes just taste better. Over the last three years I went thru many flavors and brands but Fairlife protein is still my favorite and everyday go to. Its also easily found in most gas stations and grocery stores. Bonus if you have a local sams club or costco to find them in bulk. Early in my journey when I wanted something sweet at night I would just drink half a shake to curb it (I still do this sometimes) Today I drink a vanilla Fairlife protein shake in my cold coffee every morning. I've never been a breakfast eater but always have been a cold coffee in the morning girl. Each coffee is less then 100 calories and around 13g of protein.. I drink two a day usually. (This started after being cleared to drink caffeine again)
  7. Good luck! I hope it is what you need it to be!
  8. I was also so nervous. For me I found myself almost mourning food in a way. I was so hung up on "I'll never be able to eat a ribeye and baked potato and enjoy food again." Well I do enjoy food still and I still eat a portion of a ribeye and like a 1/3 of a baked potato when the mood strikes. I deprive myself of nothing I truly want (in moderation/ small portions) Before surgery I was on every diet/ plan out there. I never stuck to anything. Eventually one day I'd give up, return to old habits, stop exercising, stop eating the right things. The #1 best part of surgery is it FORCES YOU to stay on track (atleast the first few years)
  9. Try looking at Pinterest for high protein recipes. Sometimes I find really good ideas when I look up keto recipes too ( I dont follow keto but I like so shake it up and not always eat the same stuff)
  10. GLP1 medication is a life saver for me. It completely changes how I feel and think about food. It turns off so much food noise and constant thoughts about what I want to eat. I truly believe GLP1 medications should go hand in hand with bariatric surgery after a certain point if the patient needs it. I hear so many stories of people who slowly gain it all back and I truly believe in this medication. It helps with so many of my PCOS symptoms and even helps with things like shopping addiction for me.
  11. It is very normal. I promise it does grow back in! Just keep up with your vitamins but be prepared for it to happen throughout your weight loss journey.
  12. Food noise at night was a killer for me. I know a lot of people are against glp1 but the difference is amazing. I can go to a birthday party and say no to the cake.. and I'm ok with it. Food noise silenced. I stock my offices snacks.. that used to kill me because I would buy all the things I love and then torture myself. I can walk past them with no issue now. I used to be a "bored" eater too. That's a huge thing that I've been able to stop.
  13. I still eat them.. In moderation.. Sometimes I f**k up and eat a whole sleeve and end up sick and throwing up. Did I learn the lesson? yes until the next time I forget what I'm doing at 11pm watching big bang theory in bed a little stoned.
  14. Oo I might have to give this a try! I make my own "higher protein" sourdough at home. This sounds delish
  15. I so regret not taking measurements and many more before pictures. I used to HATE having anyone take a photo of me. I have very few pictures to look at when I forget how far I've come. Learn from my mistakes!!
  16. I know a few people who got their revision covered with no issue! I'm sure your surgeons office will get you there
  17. I have two things to add here. 1.-Couple weeks before surgery I remember eating a huge grilled ribeye, baked potato and a salad and thinking to myself I will probably never eat a steak this size in one sitting again. OMG was that accurate. Now I opt for the smallest filet. Once in awhile I miss that feeling of really enjoying a meal. Like getting to eat it all and just enjoy. 2.-I get anxiety about going out to eat with anyone other then my husband. I feel like others can be very critical sometimes that no I don't order fries or other "junk" foods. Sometimes its almost like making fun of me for eating small amounts or just something healthier. I think that mostly comes from woman who are a little envious of my weight loss. I had an almond mom growing up. Now the tables have turned. I'm no longer her morbidly obese daughter. I now weigh less then her and she's struggling with gaining.
  18. My PCP brought up to me about GLP-1 INSTEAD of surgery three years ago. I told him if I was only trying to lose 50 pounds then sure I'd try that. But I told him I need to lose over 150 pounds and I didn't think the shots could get me there and get me to stay there. I wanted something more permanent then the shots.
  19. I had the itching caused by the glue they closed the incisions with. Once they peeled off after about a week or so I was good. Glad you figured yours out too
  20. I can only speak on the hernia repair... I have NEVER had heartburn once since my surgery. Its amazing and there was no pain associated with the repair whatsoever.
  21. Find a protein shake you don't hate. Three years later and I still drink one every day to make sure I hit protein goals. This is one of the first things patients abandon because they hate how they taste.
  22. Id let everything heal up before engaging
  23. I'm a firm believer in seeking help from your surgery center. I do yearly post op check ups still. When I hit a very long (almost a year) plateau my nutritionist had lots of ideas and tools to help me break thru. I ultimately decided to incorporate a glp-1 and it was the 2nd best decision of my life next to my surgery. It took awhile to really get going but I stuck with it and have taken off another 90 pounds. My dr had lots of different suggestions other then glp-1 injections though! Don't be afraid to ask for help!
  24. THIS!!! You have to rewire your brain how to sit properly and OMG it was a life changer for me!!! Improved the tailbone pain greatly
  25. Hey there! I'm not a mom but I was close to 400 when I started my journey. Its been a lot of work but I truly believe I didn't gain it overnight. I knew this was a multiple year commitment for me. And it has been. I'm not the perfect patient. I break lots of rules. I eat anything I want in moderation. But I also have used every tool I can to get where I am. Surgery was my first BIG tool. But that will only get you so far for so long. Lots of people go backwards after a certain point. I had almost a solid year with no weight loss and I decided to add in a glp-1. Best decision I've ever made next to the surgery itself. Good Luck!!
